Chapter 13

Yu Xinyan grabbed the pearl chain and squeezed the little bear’s ears.

Yu Zhiyi subconsciously hid the bag behind her back, saying, “Yanyan, this is not a teddy bear, so you can’t play with it.”

“No… I like this little bear!” Yu Xinyan went around, grabbed the pearl chain again, refusing to let go, and said confidently, “I’m younger than you, sister; you should give it to your younger sister.”

Yu Xinyan was the family’s youngest child, and unlike Yu Zhiyi, she received special treatment from their parents. So naturally, she behaved this way.

But this time, Yu Zhiyi didn’t want to give her bag to Yu Xinyan. It was a gift from her brother Yi, so how could she give it to another person, even if that person was her sister? “This is my bear bag.” She tried to separate Yu Xinyan’s fingers from the pearl chain.

Yu Xinyan refused to let go, no matter what. “Sister, just let me play with it.”

“No…” Yu Zhiyi  really didn’t want to compromise!

When the two sisters were arguing, their aunt passed by the door and saw the scene there. Realising the situation, she just said, “Zhiyi, you are the older one, so don’t argue with your sister. Yanyan likes it, so let her play for a while.”

Yu Zhiyi felt that this aunt’s words were ridiculous. “This is mine!” she said firmly.

“Hey, girl, I just said one word; why are you being so hostile?” the aunt said while frowning.

Yu Zhiyi didn’t listen to the aunt anymore and increased the strength of her hand to remove Yu Xinyan’s fingers from the pearl chain. “Yanyan, I’ll say it again; let go!” she said with gritted teeth.

“No, I want it!”

Finally, Yu Zhiyi couldn’t bear it anymore and forcibly removed Yu Xinyan’s fingers from the chain of the bag.

Their fingernails scratched both of their hands as they struggled.

The aunt couldn’t bear it anymore and finally called Ruan Qing back.

As soon as Ruan Qing walked into the room, she noticed that her younger daughter was hunched over crying and her older daughter was standing by the door with her head bowed.

Yu Xinyan jumped up as soon as she heard the voice of her mother and cried out in Ruan Qing’s arms. “Mom, sister, hit me!” She purposefully extended her hand, which had turned red, to Ruan Qing, crying as she said, “Mom, my hand hurts so much.”

Ruan Qing looked at her eldest daughter with doubt. She was aware of the calm nature of the eldest daughter and didn’t think that she would just argue with her sibling. She wanted to know the reason before punishing her. “Yiyi, why did you have a fight with your sister?”

“She insisted on taking my bear bag and didn’t listen to me when I told her that she couldn’t play with it,” Yu Zhiyi said, clasping the bear bag at her side.

Ruan Qing hadn’t seen Yu Zhiyi carry that bear bag before, and it was only then that she also saw that her skirt was brand new. “Where did you get your clothes and your bag?”

“I got it from my brother,” After hearing this title, Ruan Qing realised that the “brother” her daughter was referring to was Shi Yi. “Why did he give you these things?” The last time she went shopping, she saw this skirt, and she knew that the skirt was not very cheap. Even if the two kids got along well, it was unbelievable that he just bought this for her daughter.

“Brother has a coupon…” The little girl confessed honestly. She believed in Shi Yi’s words, but Ruan Qing didn’t.

“Yanyan, you can’t take your sister’s things just like this. You can’t be willful.” Ruan Qing educated the younger daughter first, then walked over to the eldest daughter and said, “Yiyi, you change your clothes; let’s return them to Shi Yi.”

Yu Zhiyi was surprised by her mother’s remarks. She just wanted to share her joy of getting a new dress with her family before, but now…

“Mother…why?”

“You child, do you think he has money to buy these things? And if you want a new dress, you can tell your mother. How can you tell others?”

“I didn’t ask. My brother bought them for me,” she retorted.

“Okay, Yiyi, go and change your clothes first. Let’s return them.” Ruan Qing thought that it was her daughter who spoke about wanting new clothes in front of the Shi family. So the Shi family bought her a skirt out of kindness, but they couldn’t take advantage of others.

Yu Zhiyi couldn’t understand her mother’s way of thinking. She had clearly explained the process of buying the dress, but her mother refused to believe it. So she went to her room, changed back into her old baggy clothes, and put her new skirt into a bag.

Ruan Qing settled Yu Xinyan down and took Yu Zhiyi directly to Shi’s house.

It was Ning Suya who opened the door, and she warmly welcomed them.

“I’m very sorry to bother you at this time,” Ruan Qing said with an apologetic smile.

Ning Suya served fruit and tea, and the two adults chatted politely.

Yu Zhiyi was in a bad mood and kept silent.

Ning Suya noticed that Yu Zhiyi was in a bad mood. “Yiyi, your brother is in the room; aren’t you going to play with him?”

Yu Zhiyi stood up to go to Shi Yi’s room, but her mother stopped her.

“A skirt? No, we didn’t buy a skirt for Yiyi.” Ning Suya shook her head.

“Then… Shi Yi?” Ruan Qing was also a little puzzled.

Confused, Ning Suya hurriedly knocked on Shi Yi’s door and called him, “Xiao Yi, come out!”

The boy, who was addicted to the game, just removed his headphones and went to the living room. His gaze fell on Yu Zhiyi, who was keeping her head down. He greeted Ruan Qing first and walked directly to Yu Zhiyi, where he saw that there was an obvious red mark on the back of the little girl’s clasped hands.

“What’s going on?” Shi Yi asked, pointing at her hands.

“Accidentally scratched,” she muttered.

‘Do I look like a fool?’ Shi Yi wanted to ask, but because Ruan Qing also presented, he just said, “Be careful in the future.”

Then Ruan Qing explained the reason for her sudden arrival.

“I bought the skirt for Yiyi,” Shi Yi said without any fear.

“Xiao Yi, your sister is not sensible, and she made you spend money. You tell Auntie how much these things cost, and Auntie will return the money to you.”

When Shi Yi heard this coaxing tone, he really wanted to laugh. “Auntie, she is not ignorant; I want to give her the skirt myself.” He also said again, “Yiyi didn’t know about it at first. I just heard that little girls like to wear beautiful skirts, so I wanted to give her a gift.”

“That…ok, then. But how can I let you spend your money? It’s not easy for your parents to earn money.” Ruan Qing still thought that he had spent his parents’ money.

Shi Yi: “Auntie, I use my own money, and it has nothing to do with my parents. I have the right to make my own decisions, and you don’t have to worry about that.”

After hearing her son’s words, Ning Suya understood the situation well, and she hurriedly explained it to Ruan Qing. “Ah Qing, Xiao Yi’s affairs in our family are basically up to him. Since he wants to give Yiyi a gift, let her keep it. The two children have a good relationship. So it’s not a big problem for him to buy a skirt for his sister.”

“Even if I go to the universe, I will drag you along,” he replied.

Shi Yi:”Mmm… I don’t know, maybe you just count the stars.”

Yu Zhiyi: “There are so many stars, it’s impossible to count them.”

“Oh, then I’ll count the stars. If you are too stupid, you can count the moons.” Shi Yi smiled.

Yu Zhi froze for a moment and said angrily, “Brother, you are going too far!” ‘There is only one moon; do we still need to count?’
