Chapter 19.2

Ning Suya and Shi Yi took Yu Zhiyi to the hospital to remove stitches from her face.

Yu Zhiyi was very nervous during the whole process of removing stitches; she dared not look at anything that could reflect her appearance from the beginning to the end.

When they walked out of the hospital, although Yu Zhiyi wore a cap given to her by Shi Yi, she couldn’t stop covering her face with her hands. The wounds were healed, but the scars remained.

She went back to her room immediately after getting home.

When Shi Yi went to Yu Zhiyi’s room, she was sitting on the bed, still wearing the cap, with her hands resting on her knees and her body shaking uncontrollably.

Shi Yi felt he was struck by lightning, seeing the miserable appearance of the little girl. “Yiyi,” he whispered as he knelt down on the floor in front of her.

Yu Zhiyi quickly turned her head away and covered her face with her hands. ‘Don’t look at me. I’m ugly… I look worse without the gauze on!’

“Don’t let me watch you now, so don’t you want to see your brother in the future?”

‘Of course not, but… Yu Zhi refuted it in her heart but belittled herself: “It’s ugly.”

“How could it be?” There was a gentle smile in his eyes. “Yiyi, it’s just an injury, and when the wound heals, your face will still be as beautiful as before.”

She briefly froze before carefully lowering the arm that was over her face.

“You like your brother’s cap that much? Ok, then I’ll give it to you.” Shi Yi teased the little girl while tapping on the cap.

The young girl, who was being teased so much that her cheeks slightly blushed, pulled off her cap and placed it into his arms, saying, “I’ll just give it back to you! Cheapskate!” For the first time in a while, she was displaying happy feelings. But her happiness only remained for a few seconds as she said, “I will not be cute anymore.”

Shi Yi got to his feet, covered her head with the black cap in his hand, grasped her hand tightly, and said, “Yiyi, you are cute and worthy of being loved.”

Only Yu Zhiyi and Shi Yi remained at home while Ning Suya left for work.”

“Remember to take out the meat from the refrigerator in the afternoon. Your father wants to eat porridge recently, so I should cook it in advance.” These were the things that Ning Suya told Shi Yi before going to work.

Yu Zhiyi’s condition had improved a lot, so the Shi family felt relieved. In particular, Shi Yi felt relaxed. He read books and played games with Yu Zhiyi. When he got sleepy in the afternoon, he set the alarm and fell asleep.

After some time passed, the young girl who was sitting on a chair slowly turned her head, looked at Shi Yi to make sure he was sleeping, and turned off the alarm clock.

When he gets sleepy in the afternoon, he sets the alarm clock with his mobile phone and falls asleep on the bed. Then she opened the door and walked around the house, doing all the things Ning Suya said to Shi Yi.

The scars on her face really stunned her when she walked by the washbasin and caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. She quickly turned her head away and dared not look back.

Ning Suya left work early, and she sensed something strange about her home as soon as she opened the door.

She felt that the floor was cleaner and the things in the house were tidy. Looking carefully, even the shoes that she left outside the shoe cabinet yesterday were washed and placed on the balcony to dry out. Ning Suya walked into the kitchen and saw the cooked porridge, some washed and cut vegetables, and a plate filled with chopped small ingredients.

Something was wrong. Her son was talented in other areas, but he struggled in the kitchen. This type of thorough work was not comparable to his masterwork.

Yu Zhiyi just stepped on the bench and stood up, carefully cleaning the upper part of the glass window.

Suddenly, someone hugged her by the waist and put her on the floor. As soon as Yu Zhiyi turned her head, she saw Shi Yi with a black face.

“What are you doing climbing so high?”

“Just…help you clean the room.”

“Who asked you to clean my room?”

After being surprised, she instantly apologised and said, “But don’t worry, I didn’t touch your things, and the places I wiped are all restored.”

Shi Yi sighed and put his hand to his brow, saying, “That’s not what I meant.”

Ning Suya entered the room by knocking on the door as he was about to finish his explanation. Seeing two people standing by the window, she asked suspiciously, “Did you clean the room today? Are those dishes in the kitchen?” In the middle of speaking, she noticed the towel in Yu Zhiyi’s hand and the water basin at her feet and suddenly understood something.

Hearing his mother’s words, Shi Yi understood what had happened. With a slight smile, he asked, “Yiyi, so you secretly turned off my alarm clock, washed vegetables and cooked rice at home, and swept and mopped the floor? Did I bring you home to make you do this?”

Yu Zhiyi couldn’t figure out his attitude and didn’t know how to answer.

“What exactly are you talking about? Yu Zhiyi, what we mean is that you don’t need to do these things at home,” Ning Suya said as she pushed her son away in disgust. “You see, if your brother doesn’t do any work at home, he will be disabled in the future, so let him do housework, ok?” pointing at her son, Ning Suya said.

Shi Yi curled his lips in disdain at his mother and grabbed the young girl, saying, “Mom, I’ll talk to her.”

“All right, I’ll leave first.” Ning Suya carefully closed the door.

The young girl’s only exit was blocked by Shi Yi, who then put his back against the door and asked, “Can you tell me what’s on your mind?”

“Brother, I’m afraid…” She took a deep breath, lowered her head, and said in a low voice, “I’m afraid that I will become a burden to you, and you will regret taking me home in the end.”

She knew that she couldn’t take others for granted; if she didn’t pay anything, she would really be disgusting.

In the end, she realised that her problems were caused by her inferiority complex. She grew anxious as she faced the outstanding Shi Yi. “I can try a lot of things one at a time, and if I fail, I can learn. I don’t want to disappoint you.”

The corner of Shi Yi’s mouth curled up. “You still don’t seem to have listened to what I said. Then let me say it again: listen carefully. If that person is Yu Zhiyi, that person doesn’t need to try to curry favour with me. I will blatantly favour her, understand?”
