Chapter 23.1

Monday.

Most of the students in the class had arrived earlier than on other days to complete their homework.

Li Shaozhou turned his head and looked at the back of the class, sighing regretfully. “Why hasn’t the class leader yet come?”

If the class leader hadn’t come earlier, they wouldn’t have had enough time to copy homework before the school bell rang. 

Li Shaozhou turned to look around and asked, “Which one of you did the physics homework?”

A male student raised his empty book and replied, “I also want to ask this question too.”

At that time, Qiao Lezhi walked into the classroom. Li Shaozhou reached out and stopped her and asked, “Qiao Lezi, did you do your physics homework?”

Qiao Lezhi gave him a funny look and asked, “Are you sure you dare to copy mine?”

“…” really dare not.

Li Shaozhou, who couldn’t get what he wanted, was ready to catch the next target. 

As soon as Jiang Mier entered the classroom, she was caught by Li Shaozhou.

Li Shaozhou: “Jiang Mier, did you do your physics homework?”

Jiang Mier put the books on the table and replied, “Don’t ask; this physics is simply an anti-human subject.”

Li Shaozhou grinned. “Is it… so difficult?”

“Isn’t it difficult? You can see how difficult physics is.” Jiang Mier opened the physics problem exercise book, and there was still a mess of drafts in it.

Li Shaozhou scratched his head in despair. He at least didn’t try to do physics homework, so how can he know how difficult physics homework was? He then started to look at his next prey.

When he unexpectedly noticed an unfamiliar female student walking into the class, bypassing him. He was surprised, stopped her, and asked, “Classmate, did you go to the wrong classroom?”

Yu Zhiyi, who just entered the classroom: “? ? ?”

She cast a suspicious glance in the direction of the classroom, checked that she hadn’t made any mistakes, and felt relieved. “No, I’m in the correct classroom,” she replied. 

“This voice is familiar.” Li Shaozhou looked at the young girl in front of him incredulously.

The girl had a standard oval face; her fair skin was tinged with faint pink, and her facial features were exquisite in proportion. This charming girl gave him a familiar feeling. Li Shaozhou slapped his head as if he suddenly realised. “Are you Yu Zhiyi?”

“Yes, good morning.” She admitted her identity calmly and greeted him.

Li Shaozhou was stunned. “You look so beautiful!”

His loud voice drew all the classmates’ attention to Yu Zhiyi. 

Yu Zhiyi wore a mask when she first arrived. Everyone looked for the opportunity to see her face but couldn’t get a glimpse of the new classmate’s true face. When they chatted privately, they also discussed her, saying she might be too good-looking or too ugly.

Because she had a relationship with Shi Yi, everyone still had expectations for her appearance.

Unexpectedly, she looked very cute. 

“You really are Yu Zhiyi?” Some students still couldn’t believe their eyes. 

Yu Zhiyi clasped her fingers nervously. “Yes…”

People came around one after another. “Wow, you look so good; why did you wear a mask before?”

“Is it only because of her good-looking appearance that she deliberately covered up?” Someone even asked another student.

Yu Zhiyi was stunned to hear that question. 

She did not deliberately cover her face, but just after the operation, her skin was very sensitive, and she couldn’t expose her face.

Later, she recovered slowly, and she had to return to school. But she was afraid that her skin would be fragile and could not withstand wind and sun, so she put on a mask to protect her face.

She didn’t expect everyone to be so curious about her.

She felt very uneasy about being stared at like this, but she couldn’t drive everyone away, so she subconsciously took a step back, turned around, walked out of the classroom, and ran into Shi Yi who was coming into the class.

Seeing everyone in the classroom looking over, Shi Yi realised that something was wrong. “What’s wrong?”

“They… seem to be very curious about me.” 

Shi Yi understood Yu Zhiyi’s mood, and then he suddenly said, “Students hand the assignments for each subject to subject representatives and go to the playground to prepare for the flag raising.” He spoke sonorously and powerfully, as if a teacher were present.

Shi Yi, the monitor of the class, had always been prestigious in the class, and everyone respected him.

Hearing what he said, students rushed to complete their homework as if their heads were caught on fire. 

Seeing everyone immersed in their own business, Yu Zhiyi was greatly relieved. Then she subconsciously looked up at Shi Yi.

Shi Yi raised his hand, touched the back of her head with his palm, and gently stroked it twice. “Don’t be nervous; they are not malicious towards you.”

“It is good…”

Shi Yi escorted Yu Zhiyi to her seat before he went to his. 

Shi Yi and Yu Zhiyi came to the school together, and the reason he came to the class later than Yu Zhiyi was that the headteacher called him to the office on the way.

Slowly, everyone discovered that their monitor had changed!

The class leader, who never wandered off in class and always had completed notes in his books, suddenly became lazy.

For instance, a classmate who wanted to borrow a notebook from him got an unexpected reply.

“Monitor, can I borrow the notes from the last class?”

“Not written.”

“Oh?”

The fellow student didn’t believe it, so he opened Shi Yi’s book in disbelief to discover that the pages were blank.

Teachers also noticed that Shi Yi, a good student who used to work hard, started to loosen up. He didn’t complete his notebooks, and even he didn’t ask questions like before.

Due to this, the headteacher also requested a meeting with him in the office. However, he proved to the headteacher that, despite not taking notes in class, he was still able to place first in the school.

“Teacher, everyone has their own way of learning. I think the current way suits me well, which will make me feel relaxed and happy while learning.”

Knowing Shi Yi’s ability, the headteacher didn’t force the matter anymore.

In the classroom

“The class leader is like this. Do you really think he depends on the notes given by our teachers? You don’t know when he was in junior high, he had already finished reading high school books,” Qiao Lezhi said.

“Is he as amazing as you said? Then why didn’t the class leader skip the grade and take the college entrance examination by now?” one student asked. 

“No, the class leader will not skip a grade.” Qiao Lezhi replied.

“Why?” All the students present at that time looked at Qiao Lezhi curiously.

Qiao Lezhi: “Unless Yiyi is still there, the class leader will definitely finish each grade step by step.”

Shi Yi’s abilities had been outstanding since childhood, and there were many people who supported him in skipping grades, but he himself was not happy to do that.

Everyone thought that Shi Yi simply didn’t want to skip a level until Qiao Lezhi  overheard Shi Yi’s words. “I won’t skip a level unless you are with me. But you are so stupid that you can’t skip a level in this life .”
