Chapter 3

She was able to move quickly, but the snow was slick, and her steps were not as stable as Shi Yi’s.

After walking and waiting, Shi Yi eventually knelt down by the side of the road and waved at Yu Zhiyi.

Shaking her small head, she sped up and hurried there, but surprisingly, she suddenly fell into the snow.

Shi Yi grinned as he knelt down and asked, “Yiyi, what are you going to do when you grow up?”

Yu Zhiyi thought for a while, blushing, and hesitantly replied, “Long, grow up!” Go, go, go beg for food…”

In the blink of an eye, the kindergarten graduation ceremony came. Teachers gave each child a handmade gift, and most of the children’s parents were present on time to celebrate their children’s graduation.

“I don’t know.” The children shook their heads frankly.

Shi Yi: “Because father and mother are married, they are a family.”

“Oh~” the children said in unison.

“Shi Yi, you are so smart!”

“Then you and Yiyi are in the same family, are you married too?”

“Pfft…” The precocious Shi Yi shook his head helplessly, too lazy to explain to these ignorant children.

Then a small head popped behind Shi Yi, asking, “Brother, are we married?”

Shi Yi replied seriously: “One by one, children are not allowed to get married.”

“Then what? When can we get married?”

“Of course, when we grow up.”

Although Yu Zhiyi didn’t understand Shi Yi’s words, she just nodded her head.

 On the summer vacation, Shi Yi went to visit his grandparents with his mother and hadn’t come back yet.

Sitting in the yard boredly, Yu Zhiyi heard other children playing outside. She opened her short legs and walked out slowly.

It was rare for children from different courtyards to play together. They were of different ages and had different personalities.

Wang Siyuan, a second-grade elementary school student, was a girl who came here during the summer vacation. Her beautiful dresses had become the envy of the children in the courtyard. Both boys and girls liked to play with her. So Wang Siyuan stood proudly on the low bench, like a proud peacock.

Wang Siyuan looked left and right, stretched out her hand, pointed at Yu Zhiyi, who was standing by the courtyard door, and asked loudly, “Hey, why are you hiding there?”

Yu  Zhiyi bravely took two steps forward towards Wang Siyuan and asked in a low voice, “I, can I play with you?”

As soon as she asked, the fat little boy in the middle stood up, screaming, “Don’t take Yu Zhiyi to play, she is the most stupid at playing games.”

Wang Siyuan didn’t believe it, so she insisted on pulling Yu Zhiyi over.

They discussed playing a house, and Wang Siyuan wanted to be an adult and play the role of a mother because she felt that children must obey their mothers.

All the boys wanted to become fathers, so they began to fight. Because of that, the children decided to draw lots.

Everyone took one, leaving the last paper ball for Yu Zhiyi.

Everyone received their own role identities, and they were all curious about who got the roles of mother and father.

Wang Siyuan wasn’t very happy when she didn’t get the role she wanted. “All of you turn over the note, I’ll take a look!”

Yu Zhiyi moved slowly and was the last one to show it.

Everyone saw that this person who was least able to play games actually got such a good role.

Xiaopang laughed loudly. “Yu Zhiyi actually wants to be a mother, she is so stupid, she can’t do anything!”

The little boy who got the child role burst into tears immediately. “Yu Zhiyi is so stupid, she can’t do anything! I don’t want to be her silly child.”

Wang Siyuan, who coveted this role, stepped forward and snatched the note from Yu Zhiyi’s hand. “No one will play with you, you should go to the side.”

Sure enough… the little friends still didn’t want to take her to play.

The little girl who was rejected could only stand there helplessly, watching the other people happily start preparing for the game.

Yu Zhiyii squatted on the ground, and picked up the green grass with her white and tender hands, speaking to herself. “Why hasn’t my brother come back yet?” As soon as she finished speaking, a black shadow fell before her eyes.

Those children didn’t dare to provoke Shi Yi. As Shi Yi was able to do elementary school questions in kindergarten, everyone in the community loved him. If other parents got to know this, they would be scolded for making Shi Yi unhappy. 

Another child pointed at Xiaopang and confessed first. “He said he didn’t want to be Yu Zhiyi’s stupid kid.”

From the few words of the other children, Shi Yi sorted out what had happened. “Apologise to her!” he said angrily, pointing at Yu Zhiyi.

“I’m sorry.”

“I’m sorry.”

Although the friends apologised to her, Yu Zhiyi was still very sad. On the way home with Shi Yi, she asked foolishly, “Brother, am I really stupid?”

“No…”

“Then… will someone marry me if I am foolish?”

Shi Yi: “For the sake of our neighbours, I allow you to become Mrs. Shi when you grow up!”
