Chapter 35.4

In the second half of climbing the mountain, Yu Zhiyi, who was exhausted, had to rely on Shi Yi.

She would take a break at the corner of the stone staircase to catch her breath, and Shi Yi said that if she couldn’t, they wouldn’t climb anymore.

The little girl’s face was red, and she was still breathing hard, but she shook her head and said, “It’s just that I’m a little tired; I want to keep going for a little while longer.”

“Sure, let’s go; take your time.” He agreed with Yu Zhiyi’s choice.

A group of people went to the peak of the mountain. The aunties rested and then started taking pictures in the typical tourist pose.

Tall railings had been put up to prevent accidents, but people who were scared of heights just wouldn’t go near them.

Shi Yi stood next to the fence and asked her, “Are you afraid?”

Yu Zhiyi kept moving backwards, saying, “I don’t want to go. I don’t want to go.”

As she kept walking, she felt scared of the mountain’s height, even though she stayed away from the edge.

So, she was too afraid to go there.

Shi Yi stepped forward and calmly reached out his hand to her, saying, “Come here and hold it.”

“Then you can’t take me there, okay?” The little girl looked surprised and alert.

He laughed a little and gestured for her to come to him. “If you don’t come here, you’ll go down the mountain in a while, and I won’t care about you anymore.”

“Brother, you are threatening me!”

Then the girl gave up easily and hesitantly held his longest finger, saying, “Brother… go a little further in.”

Shi Yi didn’t move. “Are you scared?”

“Many people are scared of heights; it’s just natural.”

“Do you not trust your brother?” The young man looked confused.

She kept shaking her head and said, “It doesn’t matter if I believe in you or not.”

Shi Yi quickly grabbed Yu Zhiyi’s wrist and pulled her over using force. The little girl hugged him tightly without thinking, “Shi Yi!”

“Okay, okay… I won’t make fun of you anymore,” said the boy. He hugged her, blocking her view of the mountains. “I won’t let you fall, even if I fall myself,” he whispered in her ear.

Ning Suya had just come back from taking pictures of the sights when she saw something she didn’t want to see. She quickly looked away, then turned around and acted like she didn’t notice anything. ‘This child can’t control himself.’

Aunt A: “Hey, your son and that little girl seem to really like each other. Look at them together.”

Ning Suya felt embarrassed and said, “They will take care of those youngsters’ problems on their own, so I won’t get involved with them.”

The group stayed at the top of the mountain for about half an hour and then headed down together. The walk downhill was as leisurely as a walk, with people talking and laughing along the way.

Shi Yi and Yu Zhiyi walked behind, staying ten metres away from the adults.

Yu Zhiyi sighed and said, “Today, I think I walked the longest I have in the past two years.” She asked her brother again, “Why are you so strong?” Aren’t you even tired?”

“A man can be very strong.”

“What? You’re just an underage boy.”

When she said that, the young man stopped walking and stood in front of her. He repeated her words, “Underage boy?”

‘It seems like he is upset and frustrated.’ The young girl looked innocent and blinked her eyes.

Seeing that, Shi Yi squeezed his lips, put his hands on his hips, and turned his head, as if suppressing his anger.

Finally, he looked at Yu Zhiyi again and said, “Yu Zhiyi, I hope you can remember these words today.”

“Did I make a mistake by saying something?” She still didn’t know what it meant.

The young man’s mouth turned up slightly on one side. He was smiling, but he seemed a little scary. He said, “Do you know I can hold a grudge? It’s never too late for a gentleman to take revenge.”
