Absolutely Spoiled - Chapter 36.4

Chapter 36.4
Jiang Mier and Li Shaozhou started to play with a fighting spirit, but the other two teammates who were randomly assigned were both not good. One even said something on the mic, and his voice sounded like an elementary school student.
‘Elementary school students also play games…’Li Shaozhou thought while cursing in his heart.
Jiang Mier played a few games and quit immediately. “I don’t want to play any more. The teammates in this platoon are too screwed up.”
She was so excited after playing this game.
Jiang Mier cleared her throat and said, “Do you want a drink? I want to get a milk tea.”
Li Shaozhou stopped playing, took his phone, and replied, “Come on, let’s leave.”
“Wait a second; I need to ask Yiyi what she wants,” Jiang Mier said as she hurried over. “Yiyi, we’re going to get some milk tea. I’ll bring you whatever drink you want.”
“No, I don’t want to drink it right now.”
“Alright.”
They had been friends for three years, and they were familiar with each other. Jiang Mier knew that her friend didn’t want a drink because she really didn’t want to; therefore, Jiang Mier didn’t push it and walked away from the bakery.
Jiang Mier thought that Li Shaozhou might know about the nearby business area, so she went back to him and asked, “Do you know where there is a milk tea shop close by?”
Li Shaozhou looked around and studied the area. Then he remembered, “We need to keep going and cross the road at the intersection ahead.”
Both of them walked together, and when they were about to reach the crosswalk, Jiang Mier happily pointed to the other side and said, “I saw it.”
She quickly saw that the people on the crosswalk were almost done crossing. “There’s only 6 seconds left for the green light; let’s hurry.” Jiang Mier said as she looked at the changing green light. Without thinking, she grabbed Li Shaozhou, and they ran across the crosswalk together.
When they got to the other side of the road, Jiang Mier looked up to see the name of the store and didn’t realise that she was still holding someone’s hand.
Li Shaozhou looked at their hands, and he glanced guiltily at the girl next to him who was paying attention to the milk tea shop. His fingers were too stiff to move because he was afraid she would find out.

The cake was almost finished, and the baker started to put on decorations and final touches.
As soon as Yu Zhiyi got to the big hall, she sat down and waited until Jiang Mier and Li Shaozhou came back.
At that moment, an old man who was hunched over walked into the cake shop. He looked at all the cakes in the glass display case and then pointed to a round cake. He asked the boss, “How much does this cake cost?”
“39.”
The old man felt sad when he heard the price, so he lowered his head and sighed. He didn’t want to give up, so he looked for a cheaper one. But when he asked how much it cost, it was 29 yuan.
Although it was ten yuan less than the previous one, for some elderly people, it was really hard to bear to spend twenty or thirty yuan on a cake as small as the size of a palm.
“Boss, can you make it less expensive?”
“No, we have set the price clearly.”
“My granddaughter is having her birthday today, and she always wanted a cake.” When the old man said this, he felt sad about life.
The clerk had to say no because of the rules. “I’m sorry, but this is the price. I can’t change it. You think I’m the boss, but I’m just a worker for the boss.
The old man stopped searching for the cake, hunched over it, and walked slowly out of the shop with the cake.
When Yu Zhiyi saw the sad and helpless look on the old man’s face, he decided to buy a 39-yuan strawberry yoghurt cake from the boss and give it to the old man.
“This cannot be done. Impossible, the old man rejected her offer.
“Grandpa, the boss said that he should do good deeds every day, so he decided to give this cake to you.”
“Young girl, don’t trick me.”
“Grandpa, please accept it.”
The old man did not worry about people tricking him, but he was worried about taking something free.
Yu Zhiyi did her best to give her the cake, and the old man was grateful and thanked her a lot.
Yu Zhiyi hurriedly helped the old man stand up and told him, “It’s alright. I hope your granddaughter has a great birthday.”
She just thought of herself when she was a child.
She wondered: had her grandma ever walked into a cake shop and wanted to buy her a birthday cake, but in the end, because life was not easy, she chose another way to celebrate her birthday?
However, she was fortunate that Shi Yi, a young and strong boy, healed her from her childhood sickness.
Have a wonderful day!
