Chapter 37.2

Wen Tingyu, who was Yu Zhiyi’s deskmate, discovered that Yu Zhiyi was in a low mood as soon as she returned to the classroom.

She knew that her friend had a meeting with her mother, and Wen Tingyu realised Yu Zhiyi’s low mood had something to do with her mother.

Wen Tingyu recalled what Yu Zhiyi had written about her parents in her novel, and she could probably guess that Yu Zhiyi’s relationship with her parents was not a happy one.

So Wen Tingyu pulled out a paper from the drawer, placed it on Yu Zhiyi’s table, and pointed to the wrong question with a red.

As soon as Yu Zhiyi took the test paper and read the question, her thoughts returned to studying.

Ruan Qing did not go home right away; instead, she went to the classroom and found Shi Yi.
They talked a bit at the stairs.

When Shi Yi met Ruan Qing, he showed respect for his elders by calling her respectfully. “Auntie”.

Ruan Qing was happy to see the tall and impressive teenager in front of her because he had always been kind to her daughter since they were kids, and she apologised for coming to the classroom at that time.

Shi Yi was not pretending to be nice and asked calmly, “Aunty, how can I help you?”

Ruan Qing said, “I just went to visit Yiyi.”

Shi Yi looked a little worried, then calmed down and waited for Ruan Qing to speak.

“She still doesn’t want to acknowledge or appreciate my kindness towards her. I know that she was very upset by what happened in the beginning, so I won’t ask her to forgive me now.”

“Then what does Auntie want me to do?”

“Shi Yi, I know you love her a lot—maybe even more than me. I just want to say thank you.”

“That’s not needed. I am nice to her because I want to be, not because I want to be praised for it.”

Ruan Qing didn’t say anything; she could see that Shi Yi didn’t like her very much, and she also understood the reasons.

Now she finally understands why Yu Zhiyi said those words.

Before Ruan Qing left, she kept her self-esteem low and bent down to thank the young man. “Thank you and your family. Being able to meet you is the happiest thing in her life.”

Since Yu Zhiyi was born, Ning Suya’s breast milk has kept her alive. Afterwards, Shi Yi helped Yu Zhiyi feel better.
Ruan Qing, a mother, felt embarrassed; she went away while quietly cleaning the tears from her eyes.

Before the exam, Ruan Qing sent Yu Zhiyi some money and told her to spend it on whatever she wanted to eat or buy and to be good to herself.

As soon as Yu Zhiyi found an extra five hundred yuan in her card, she didn’t spend it and deposited it in the account in which she was saving money.

She had already decided to give back all the high school fees to Ruan Qing and the Shi family.
Even though it would take a while, she wouldn’t forget to get it done.

On June 7, the important and nerve-wracking college entrance exam finally began.

Ning Suya booked a room for the two children in a hotel close to the school where they were taking the exam, and she stayed with them the whole time.

During the exam, the two kids went into the schoolyard at the same time. After the exam, they went back to the hotel and sat together at a table, revising the questions for tomorrow’s exam.

Yu Zhiyi felt a bit nervous, but Shi Yi was there with her, so she cheered up.

Shi Yi told her not to worry because she had done well in two subjects.

“I want to have another look. What if I don’t do well on the exam tomorrow?” Yu Zhiyi reassured herself and felt calm in her mind. Actually, she did well during the day, but she wanted to be more careful.
