Chapter 39.1

She whispered in the dark, “Can I kiss you?”

She didn’t get a response.

From the little light coming through the windows, she couldn’t see everything clearly, but she could still see the outlines of his eyebrows, nose, and lips.

Yu Zhiyi pressed her hands on the soft bed, making the mattress sink a little.

She gathered her courage to lean over to gently touch Shi Yi’s lips, and the gentle touch only lasted for a short time, like a dragonfly touching the water.

As soon as she rolled over to her side and covered herself with the blanket, she felt like she was a sneaky thief. 

She felt like she couldn’t breathe with her heart ramming against her ribcage.

‘Wow, a hidden kiss is very thrilling!’

She was gripping the edges of the blanket with sweaty hands. 

After some time, she didn’t hear any movements, so she assumed the person beside her was still sleeping.

Yu Zhiyi carefully poked her head out, and she looked at him with her big black eyes.

Then she slowly moved towards Shi Yi, placed a feather-like kiss on the boy’s lips again, and hid under the blanket with a loudly beating heart.

She hid under the blanket and listened carefully to the sounds outside. It was very silent; however, she couldn’t calm down because she felt guilty.

With a blushing face, she slowly lifted the quilt and leaned over again.

Although it was a light touch, she enjoyed it very much.

“One, two… can I kiss you one more time?” The little girl moved her lips as she muttered to herself.

With the experience of the first and second times, it was necessary to be proficient in the preparation movements for the third time.

As she was about to touch him, the sleeping boy quickly reached out and stopped her.

Yu Zhiyi felt very stiff.

“Are you having trouble sleeping?” The young boy’s voice sounded rough and attractive.

“Yes…yes…” Yu Zhiyi was feeling very anxious, and her teeth were shaking.

She wanted to kiss someone without his permission but got caught in the act. ‘I’m wondering if Shi Yi noticed what I just did?’ She thought. ‘But if he knew, he wouldn’t have asked me if I couldn’t sleep, right?’

Shi Yi really thought that Yu Zhiyi couldn’t sleep; therefore, he gently patted her back to help her sleep. “Close your eyes and stay still.”

Yu Zhiyi listened to what Shi Yi said and obediently lay down. However, Shi Yi’s arm did not move further and was still holding up her head.

This time was different from before.

They were far apart just a few minutes ago, but now they were acting more like a couple, being close and affectionate, which was hard to understand.

The first time she slept on someone else’s arm, she wasn’t used to it, but she didn’t want to say anything. She just wanted to stay by his side.

She breathed quietly and spoke softly so the person next to her could hear. “Big brother…”

“Um…” 

“Good night,” said Yu Zhiyi.

“Good night.” When he responded, his nasal voice was slightly thicker.

Shi Yi’s arms tightened a little, and he moved closer.

If she were braver, she would learn from him and just hug him.
