Chapter 40.2

In the afternoon, Jiang Mier bubbled up in the sisters’ group they had created, crying out about boredom. “I’m so bored lately. It’s hot, and I don’t want to go out, and I have nothing to do at home.” 

Qiao Lezhi asked, “Don’t you need to report to the university early?”

Sports students were required to report to the university because their college training started early.

Jiang Mier replied, “There are still two days left.”

Yu Zhiyi and Wen Tingyu were still outside when they saw messages in their group. They join the conversation by saying, “We are at the city centre square. If you like, you can join us to eat together.”

Jiang Mier joined her best friends happily. 

The three of them met up at a milk tea shop, ordered fruit drinks, and chatted about good times in high school and their future lives in university.

Jiang Mier’s phone vibrated, indicating she had received a message while they were chatting.

She opened the message and saw that it was from Li Shaozhou. [Do you have a crush on someone?]

When Jiang Mier saw the question, she was confused. ‘Why is he so weird?’

She was a bit confused, but she still replied. [No.]

Without waiting for a reply, she sent another message with the same question Li Shaozhou asked her. [Do you have a crush on someone?]

After a few seconds, Li Shaozhou’s reply came. [I am chatting with the person I like.]

“Hahahaha.” As soon as Li Shaozhou’s message came, Jiang Mier was startled and laughed. “Oh no, Li Shaozhou likes someone.”

“Ahem—” Yu Zhiyi almost coughed on the passion pineapple she just sipped.

Both Yu Zhiyi and Wen Tingyu looked at Jiang Mier with curious eyes. 

But Jiang Mier didn’t notice her friends’ curious eyes, and she just replied. [Okay. Then you talk with the one you like; I have to talk to my sisters.

Wen Tingyu, sitting beside Jiang Mier, saw what she had typed. 

She didn’t pee into Jiang Mier’s phone purposely; she just saw it. Suddenly, she didn’t know what to say.

‘It seems Jiang Mier is happy being single. She didn’t seem upset or sad when she thought Li Shaozhou liked a girl, and “that girl would be her.’

But Wen Tingyu didn’t want to say anything to create a rift between Jiang Mier’s and Li Shaozhou‘s friendship.

‘Let’s forget it for now; there will be opportunities in the future.’

Li Shaozhou was dumbfounded when he read Jiang Mier’s last reply. 

After pondering for a while, he surfed online to find an answer. 

If the other person also likes you, you will be a couple.

If someone doesn’t like you, he or she will just act like he or she doesn’t know what you mean. This way, he or she can still look good.

‘Jiang Mier reacted that way…’Li Shaozhou felt very sad because he couldn’t be with the person he liked.

“Hey, Yi, do you want to go for a drink?” He called Shi Yi.

Shi Yi asked, “What type of alcohol do kids drink?”

“I am grown up. I’m already eighteen years old.”

“Oh,” said Shi Yi calmly, “I’m not an adult yet.”

Li Shaozhou said, “…”

But to keep up with their friendship, Shi Yi still went out.

Li Shaozhou said that when his parents were not at home, he would buy a box of beer. So he was familiar with drinking. “Brother Yi, I feel sad,” Li Shaozhou muttered. “Have you ever felt love?”

Shi Yi was non-committal.

“I felt like crying, but I didn’t want to give up.” Li Shaozhou said it again.

Shi Yi lifted his eyebrows and said, “Okay, it seems you’re in love.”

After hearing that, Li Shaozhou felt like crying even more.

He used the bottle opener to open ten bottles all at once and then drank straight from the bottles.

Shi Yi didn’t want Li Shaozhou to get drunk, but Li Shaozhou didn’t listen. He wanted to dwell on alcohol to numb his pain. 

Li Shaozhou didn’t feel relief after consuming six bottles. His face had become red and he had blurred vision; he threw the beer bottle and walked wobbly to the bathroom.

He came back with a damp face.

Seeing his friend’s appearance, Shi Yi decided to make him stop drinking more.

All of a sudden, Li Shaozhou leaned over and hugged Shi Yi. He said with a crying face, “Brother Yi, love… has made me very unhappy. I feel…very…unhappy.”

With a red face, Shi Yi pushed Li Shaozhou away and said, “Stop saying nonsense.”

Shi Yi’s words touched Li Shaozhou’s sore bottom, and he was more heartbroken.

Shi Yi was cautious of him. “Li Shaozhou. If you come near me again, I will tell Jiang Mier.”

Li Shaozhou hugged the wine bottle and said, “How did you know it was… her?”

“Everyone can see it except for a blind person.”

“Yes, but she cannot see.” Li Shaozhou started to cry without tears. “No, she did it intentionally. She doesn’t like me, so she acts like she can’t understand on purpose.”

Shi Yi: “She might not understand.”

The confused Li Shaozhou seemed to understand and began to mumble, “It makes sense. That makes sense…”In the end, he cheered himself up again. “I can’t give up!”

Li Shaozhou figured it out, and as soon as he closed his eyes, he lay down next to Shi Yi and fell asleep.

There were three bottles of beer left.

Shi Yi slowly touched the beer bottle on the coffee table with his finger, tapped twice on the side, and finally took the bottle over and drank it down.

Beer was not easily intoxicating. After drinking three bottles, he was still sober.

Seeing the sleeping man on the sofa, Shi Yi put away all the empty bottles and cleaned up the surrounding area.

Before leaving, he left a note for Li Shaozhou.
