Chapter 41.1

A soft hand touched the back of her neck, and Yu Zhiyi subconsciously accepted the boy’s warm touch while her little hands tightly grasped the corners of her clothes.

When Shi Yi came closer, she couldn’t think what to do.

She didn’t feel any alcohol smell on Shi Yi, and the aura of a young man lingers around her.

“Shi Yi…” Shi Yi heard the girl whispering something.

“You also like me, right?”

While Yu Zhiyi was in shock hearing Shi Yi’s question, suddenly they heard a loud noise from the living room.

Yu Zhiyi became frightened, quickly moved backwards, and accidentally bumped her head on the computer desk. “Hiss…” She frowned in pain.

Shi Yi smiled a little, helped her stand up, and gently rubbed the back of Yu Zhiyi’s head.

“Xiaoyi, Yiyi,” Ning Suya called from the living room. “Come out and eat.”

Ning Suya and her husband went shopping and got some tasty fresh fruits on the way back. As soon as she got home, she thought of sharing them with two.

Yu Zhiyi felt guilty, and she was too afraid to open the door. So she just stood inside the room, shaking lightly. 

Ning Suya thought the two children didn’t hear her, so she tapped on the door. 

Yu Zhiyi took a deep breath and found the courage to open the door. Then she saw Ning Suya looking at her with a smile.

Ning Suya didn’t realise anything was wrong and happily took Yu Zhiyi to the living room. “Yiyi is also here. Come and see what fruits you like to eat,” she said.

There were many plastic bags on the table, and each bag contained different kinds of fruits: watermelon, peach, grape, and apple.

Yu Zhiyi didn’t know what to pick up first, so she looked at the bags in a confused mind.

“The watermelon is sliced. Let’s have some of this first to quench your thirst,” Mr. Shi said as he bought a small tray with slices of watermelon on it.

Watermelon was very tasty and full of juice; therefore, it was the best fruit to eat in the summer. Yu Zhiyi grabbed a watermelon slice and ate it bit by bit. 

“Is it good?” Mr. Shi asked, looking at the young girl.

Yu Zhiyi: “It tastes really good.”

Mr. Shi smiled and told his wife, “See, I was right to buy this.”

Ning Suya cleaned the grapes put them in the fruit basket and said, “Yes, you got lucky and chose the right one.”

“Hey, just admit that I can choose better than you.”

“The watermelon you bought last time didn’t look like this.”

“It was the last time; now I can understand how to choose them.”

While the couple’s friendly argument was ongoing, Yu Zhiyi glanced at the door of Shi Yi’s room without realizing it several times.

‘He… is still in the room. Is it because of what happened just now? Maybe he kissed me while he was drunk, and now he is sober and he is avoiding me.’

Yu Zhiyi, who was engaged in writing romance books, quickly came up with many ideas.

As she was thinking, Shi Yi came out of the bedroom and walked towards her.

As he got closer to the girl, Shi Yi noticed Yu Zhiyi’s shiny red lips with a hint of water on them. They looked like a tasty berry, and he wanted to have a taste.

“Xiaoyi, come quickly; there’s watermelon; let’s eat it together.” 

When Ning Suya said, Shi Yi couldn’t stop glancing at the girl’s red lips next to him.

He tried it, and it was tasty and tempting.

Shi Yi’s throat became dry, and he thought Yu Zhiyi’s lips would taste better than watermelon.

When Yu Zhiyi realised Shi Yi was looking at her, she felt her face get hot. She quickly finished eating and said, “I’m done eating. I’m going back to the room now.”

After she went away, Shi Yi walked slowly back to where Yu Zhiyi was before and sat down.

“Xiaoyi, school begins in two weeks. Would you like your dad to take you there?”

“No, I will look after Yiyi.”

“Hey,” Mr. Shi ate the last piece of watermelon and looked at his son with a different expression. “Why do I think you are treating Yiyi like your own daughter?”

“Ahem,” Ning Suya coughed so hard that she almost drank the watermelon juice by accident.

She doubtfully looked at her son and replied to her husband, “Isn’t it great? I got a daughter without having to raise her.”

Dad Shi agreed. “Yes, it is very good. Yiyi works hard and cooks delicious food, doesn’t she? I don’t know which boy will be lucky in the future.”

Shi Yi: “…”

Ning Suya: ‘Probably it will be your son if nothing happens in the middle.’

The next day.

The two adults went to work on time.

When Yu Zhiyi got up, she prepared breakfast for two people and stood in front of Shi Yi’s room. After hesitating for a while, she still couldn’t make up her mind to knock on the door. 

Just as she was hesitating, the door was opened from inside, and their eyes collided.

Yu Zhiyi lowered her head reflexively. “Um, I’ve prepared breakfast.”

Shi Yi raised his hand habitually and gently touched her head. “Thank you for your hard work.”

Shi Yi had just woken up, so his voice still had a hit of roughness. 

Yu Zhiyi froze there as if her acupuncture points had been tapped, and she didn’t dare to move.

Until Shi Yi passed her by.

Shi Yi went to wash up first.

Yu Zhiti leaned against the wall, gritted her teeth, and couldn’t help but mutter in her heart. ‘How could he forget it again?’

Last time he held her to sleep, and this time he kissed her, the result was still so open; she was the only one struggling with it.

Was she too embarrassed to ask directly?

Oh, it was so uncomfortable…

But the person who started it all had other ideas.

Shi Yi noticed that Yu Zhiyi seemed to be avoiding him. Maybe it happened too suddenly, and she couldn’t accept it yet.

Therefore, he had to wait patiently and not scare her anymore.
