Chapter 45.2

While Yu Zhiyi was examining her feet, a shadow covered her head, but she didn’t notice it.

“Is your foot injured?”

“Ah?” Hearing an unfamiliar voice, Yu Zhiyi was startled, and when she raised her head, she saw a boy squatting at her feet. 

The boy was the vice president of their university’s Arts and Literature Department, who also gave them etiquette team lessons regularly.

“Are the high heels you are wearing not fitting well?” The vice president looked worried and even tried to lift Yu Zhiyi’s feet.

The poor girl panicked and subconsciously retracted her legs and put her little feet back into her shoes. “It’s…okay. Nothing is wrong.”

She was not used to sharing her own affairs with people she was not familiar with.

“I’m sorry. I just saw that your foot was injured, so that’s why. I’m really sorry if I scared you,” the vice president realised his abruptness and quickly apologised to Yu Zhiyi. 

Yu Zhiyi just nodded her head. 

“We are not training just for this show. You are a member of the university etiquette team, so there will be more opportunities to present in the future. Why don’t you buy a pair of high heels that is suitable for you? It’s very important to have one,” the vice president patiently asked. 

Yu Zhiyi also thought that it was a good idea and thanked the boy. “Thank you, Vice President.”

She noted in her heart to buy a new pair of heels as soon as possible.

However, something unexpected happened before Yu Zhiyi could buy new heels: the vice president gave her a pair the next day. 

“This pair of heels should be perfect for you. I’ve seen your shoe size, so how about you try this pair of shoes?”

Yu Zhiyi was caught off guard. After realising what was happening, she rejected the vice president’s offer. “Excuse me, Vice President, what do you mean by this?”

“Ah…” The boy smiled shyly and said, “You haven’t figured it out yet? I want to pursue you.”

The boy, who was a senior, was not from the Chinese Department like Yu Zhiyi. Therefore, he didn’t know Yu Zhiyi well. Seeing Yu Zhiyi come to practise without a boy’s presence for the whole time, he thought she was single. 

Additionally, he was very confident about his looks because several girls in his department wanted to be his girlfriend. Seeing how lovely and cute Yu Zhiyi looked, he thought a simple yet beautiful girl like Yu Zhiyi suited him a lot.

He even thought of pursuing Yu Zhiyi even if she has a boyfriend.

Boys at this age normally would have a lot of energy, and most of them believed that nothing was impossible. 

“What?” This wasn’t the response Yu Zhiyi was expecting. “Sorry, we don’t know each other very well.” This was regarded as a courteous rejection. Yu Zhiyi felt that since they had hardly exchanged words, it would be inappropriate for him to declare his feelings for her just like that.

The vice president thought Yu Zhiyi was rejecting him because she was embarrassed by the unexpected confession. “Don’t be so quick to reject me. Everyone has their own way of getting to know each other. We can get to know each other slowly,” the vice president gave the shoebox to Yu Zhiyi and said. “It’s just a little gift from a friend.”

He thought Yu Zhiyi was playing hard to get, but he chose the wrong target!

When Yu Zhiyi heard this, she scolded him in her heart and politely declined, saying, “Sorry, we might not be good friends. I’m in a relationship already.”

Since she has a boyfriend, she thought to keep a distance from other boys. Otherwise, it would cause some trouble. 

After a brief period of shock, the vice president asked, “I haven’t heard you have a boyfriend.” Are you stating this deliberately to turn me down?”

“…” Yu Zhiyi was unable to speak. She had no idea what this person’s thoughts were. Would she pretend to be in a relationship in order to reject someone? “That is true. I didn’t intentionally mislead you. Senior, let’s put an end to this right now.” After saying that, she strode away.

Yu Zhiyi felt that this must stop from here. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to participate in etiquette team activities at ease. 

Realising that Yu Zhiyi rejected him, the vice president chased after her, saying, “Okay, okay, I believe you have a boyfriend. But you see, the old pair of high heels hurt your feet. Now you need a pair of suitable new shoes.”

He raised the shoe box high and said again, “I already bought it. Anyway, this is a woman’s shoe. What can I do with this? If you don’t take this, I don’t know what to do with it.” He gave her a soft smile and said like a well-behaved person. “Just think of an elder brother looking after a younger sister.”

Yu Zhiyi was very annoyed, but she didn’t want to argue either. So she just said, “Thank you for your kindness. But if you don’t know how to deal with it, just throw it away.”

The girl’s reply surprised the vice president because no girl had ever rejected him before.

‘This junior girl who usually looks sweet, cute, and well-behaved actually has a fierce temper.’ The more he watched Yu Zhiyi, the more he liked her.

Yu Zhiyi walked away without uttering another word. 

The vice president tried to stop her, but suddenly someone held his wrist tightly. “Hey, junior sister, you, ah, ah…who…ah…”

Hearing the boy’s scream, Yu Zhiyi turned back. Seeing what was happening in front of her eyes, she was stunned for a few seconds. 

After coming to her senses, she called happily, “Hey, brother!”

Shi Yi pushed the senior boy away and walked towards Yu Zhiyi with his long legs. He hugged her tightly as if he were claiming the person. “Senior, when it comes to love, there are also rules of propriety, righteousness, and shame!” he said while looking at the older boy.

He didn’t say anything mean, but just one saying made the vice president feel embarrassed.

The words “propriety, righteousness, shame” felt like arrows that went through the heart. 

Shi Yi took his girl away. 

Without any extra people buzzing in her ears, Yu Zhiyi felt that the whole world had become quiet.
