Shi Yi’s arrival interrupted Liao Zhewen’s words, and Yu Zhiyi’s attention shifted to her boyfriend. 

Yu Zhiyi noticed that Shi Yi had dressed up more than his usual self. ‘Wow! He is very handsome today. The British-style light brown coat has emphasised his handsomeness.’

“Yiyi, come here,” Shi Yi said without giving Liao Zhewen a look.

“Brother, you are here.” The girl bloomed like a flower as she walked towards Shi Yi.

“I came to take you inside,” he replied.

“Yes, you can take me now.” The girl, who was amazed by her boyfriend’s look, almost forgot there was another person there. “Mmm… Brother, our high school class monitor has come,” she whispered. 

“Um well… I think it’s best to ask him to wait outside for a little bit,” the boy replied.

“Hey, isn’t this rude? I told him that I would treat him to a meal, but if I just left him outside, wouldn’t it be rude?” the girl asked with a serious expression. 

Shi Yi looked at the boy nearby and said confidently, “Sure, you can come with us.”

Liao Zhewen felt that although Shi Yi looked polite on the surface, he might have a hidden plan.

As soon as they entered the door of the restaurant, Wen Tingyu greeted Liao Zhewen at the door, separating him from the young couple. “Hey class monitor, long time no see.”

Wen Tingyu’s appearance was totally different from her look in high school; therefore, Liao Zhewen couldn’t recognise her right away. 

Seeing this, Yu Zhiyi was puzzled. ‘Wen Tingyu is not the kind of person who likes to make friends easily. What happened to her today?’

Liao Zhewen felt a bit annoyed by Wen Tingyu’s action. “I’m not sick, so why do you want to keep me away from them?” he asked, looking at Yu Zhiyi, who was going further away.

“Class monitor, please try to understand,” Wen Tingyu said without explaining anything to him.

Yu Zhiyi realised her friends were up to something and she suspected Shi Yi had a surprise plan for her 18th birthday.

Once Shi Yi opened the beautifully decorated door, Yu Zhiyi was amazed. 

Inside the room was decorated nicely with a pink and white colour theme. It looked really girlish. 

Another thing that surprised Yu Zhiyi was that her and Shi Yi’s photos from childhood to adulthood were hanging everywhere. 

Yu Zhiyi was really touched by this, and she grabbed a photo at random. In the picture, a small girl was lying on the boy’s back, and their faces were close together.

The box full of memories from childhood opened instantly, and she felt an overwhelming feeling in her heart.

Walking through a hallway filled with photos that bring back memories, she saw heart-shaped balloons that were glowing with cosy lights.

“This…” She thought this place didn’t look like a birthday party, but she really enjoyed it.

Seeing the blooming face of his girl, Shi Yi leaned towards her and asked, “Do you remember I wrote a song when I turned 18?”

Yu Zhiyi commented, “I remembered.”

“Okay, then I’ll sing that song for you, and this time, you need to listen closely.” He didn’t need any music to play along. Instead, he stayed calm, looked into her eyes, and started to sing.

My dear, my precious, I really don’t want to go

I will always be with you and I’m waiting for you

Upon listening to the song carefully, Yu Zhiyi’s eyes filled with tears, and soon they began to run down her cheeks.

As soon as the boy hugged the girl, he opened the transparent umbrella, and beautiful red rose petals fell on them. At the same time, heart-shaped balloons floated all over the room. The scene was extremely spectacular.

“I just want to make you happy; why are you crying?” He gently wiped the tears on the girl’s face. “Seeing your tears—it’s hurt me a lot,” he wished softly. 

“I feel really happy,” she said while tears of joy ran down her face.

Shi Yi held up the transparent umbrella to hide herself and asked, “Do you know what I want to do?”

Yu Zhiy pondered for a few seconds but couldn’t come up with anything.

Seeing her shaking her head, the young man said with a serious voice, “I have already made up my mind to ask you to marry me when you turn 18.”

“Marry…propose?” Yu Zhiyi was stunned!

“Yes.”

He set the umbrella down, got a ring from her pocket, and went on his knees in front of the stunned girl. 

“Yiyi, I want to show the whole world that you are my lover for my entire life,” he looked at her with eyes filled with love and said. 

Yu Zhiyi was so surprised that she felt dumb.

When she felt like everyone had left her because she was so awful, there was someone who never stopped caring about her.

She didn’t accept or reject the proposal; instead, she squatted down and asked with red eyes, “Are you sure you won’t regret it?”

‘Is it really necessary for such an outstanding person to be bound up with me so early?’

“Yiyi, why do you want to ask unnecessary questions?” He sighed and continued his words, “I did my best to keep my baby safe for 18 years, so why would I regret it?”

Yu Zhiyi held onto the ring tightly and cried. It felt like she was back to the summer after her accident when she decided to go home with her brother.
