Chapter 49.1 – After Marriage 1

All of Yu Zhiyi and Shi Yi’s close relatives and acquaintances knew that they had gotten their marriage license. Nobody thought that was nonsense, even though they were still young.

‘How many people in the world have 22 years’ worth of stored emotions to reach this point?’

The Shi family brought Yu Zhiyi’s grandmother to the city the day the young couple tied the knot legally.

So the two youngsters received blessings from close relatives in person.

In private, Yu Zhiyi’s grandmother said to her granddaughter, “I always felt that you were still an innocent and lovely little girl, but in the blink of an eye, you are already married.”

“Grandma, I have grown up now.”

“Yes, you’ve grown up to be a lovely girl. Grandma is very happy!” She was thrilled to see her happy granddaughter, who had suffered so much back then.

“In our time, people got married early, but it was mostly through matchmakers. Now you young people are all into free love, but you still get married early.”

“Grandma, my brother and I are serious.”

“I know, I know.” Grandma patted the back of her beloved granddaughter’s hand. “A few months ago he came to get your household registration book, so I knew it.”

Yu Zhiyi’s house registration book was her grandmother, so when Shi Yi visited the old lady in October of last year, he confessed his thoughts about Yu Zhiyi to the old lady and asked permission to marry Yu Zhiyi.

“I am willing to marry off my darling granddaughter because of him. I never would have been willing to do that if it had been someone else.” Grandma was clear-sighted and clear-minded despite her advanced age. To her, Shi Yi was the most worthy person in this world that she could hand over her precious granddaughter. 

Hearing her grandmother speak highly about Shi Yi, Yu Zhiyi felt very happy. Holding the elderly woman’s hand, she said slyly, “Grandma is so nice.”

This was Yu Zhiyi’s significant moment of her life, and her grandmother thought about her daughter, and she suddenly asked, “Have you told your mother about this?”

Yu Zhiyi’s face froze slightly, and she muttered, “Not yet.”

She had called Ruan Qing, but coincidentally, the other party’s phone was turned off. Therefore, Yu Zhiyi didn’t call her mother again. So until now, Ruan Qing still didn’t know that her eldest daughter had gotten married.

Grandma sighed and said, “Let’s find a suitable time to tell her.”

The old lady was caught between her daughter and granddaughter, and it was very difficult for her.

Yu Zhiyi gave a small nod.

Considering Shi Yi’s busy work and Yu Zhiyi’s studies, they decided not to hold a wedding ceremony for the time being, and everyone understood it and supported the young couple’s decision. 

With a big smile on her face, Ning Suya gave her daughter-in-law a big red envelope and said, “Good girl, you will really be my daughter from now on.”

Although Yu Zhiyi lived with the Shi family for so many years, she was not their relative, but it had changed. And Ning Suya was over the moon.

The red envelope was a good omen, so Yu Zhiyi accepted it calmly and thanked her with a smile. “Thank you, Aunt Ning.”

After a brief period of shock, Ning Suya teased her. “You still call me Auntie Ning?”

With a hot face, Yu Zhiyi pursed her lips and exclaimed, “Mom!”

“Hey!” When Ning Suya responded, it was quite evident in her voice how thrilled she was.

Yu Zhiyi grinned. 

Yu Zhiyi was much calmer than before when Shi Yi’s father gave her the red envelope, and she whispered, “Thank you, Dad,” in a quiet voice.

“At first I was wondering which boy would marry such a good girl, but I didn’t expect that she would belong to my boy,” Father Shi said with a big laugh.

Ning Suya patted her husband on the shoulder and said, “Isn’t it obvious back then? You’re the only one who didn’t see it.”

Father Shi waved his hands quickly and said, “I found out later, didn’t I?”

Shi Yi came over, held his wife’s hand, and whispered, “See, everyone knew it, but you are the stupid one.”

Yu Zhiyi turned her head and glared at him. That little expression didn’t look fierce at all, but it was extremely cute.

Shi Yi rubbed her head and said, “Okay, I won’t tease you anymore.”

Since Yu Zhiyi’s grandmother stayed in Yu Zhiy’s room, Yu Zhiyi had to sleep in Shi Yi’s room. 

Although she had not thought about a passionate wedding night, what caught Yu Zhiyi off guard was the arrival of her period. “My stomach feels a little uncomfortable; it seems like it’s coming...”

So Shi Yi rubbed her belly all night.

Grandma was not used to living in the city, so Yu Zhiyi and Shi Yi reluctantly sent her back to the town and returned to City C in a rush.

At their age, it was a good time to work hard; whether it was studying or working, they must seize the opportunity. So the elders understood and did not keep them, but their parents still personally sent them to the high-speed rail station.

After checking the seat numbers, they found their seats. 

Yu Zhiyi felt pain in her stomach as she sat for a while.

She rarely experienced stomach pains when she was menstruating before. But this time it was a different story.

She had been travelling between two places for the last two days, so maybe it was the difference in weather that caused her to feel uncomfortable.

Seeing the sickly look on his wife’s face, Shi Yi touched Yu Zhiyi’s face, which was also a little cold. He pulled her over to lean against him and put his warm palm on her abdomen. “I’ll make brown sugar water when we go back.”

Yu Zhiyi was quite comfortable resting on Shi Yi. She drifted off to sleep without noticing after some time.

Sitting next to them was a stranger who witnessed this touching scenario firsthand. After some time, a bystander enquired, “Is this your girlfriend?” with a smile.

Shi Yi averted his gaze from the stranger, casting an especially tender glance at the girl. “No, she is my wife.”

Years later, the dimwitted little fool officially became Mrs. Shi.
