Chapter 49.2

After getting into the taxi, Shi Yi informed the driver of their destination.

Hearing that, Yu Zhiyi was surprised. ‘It seems we are not going home?’

Seeing his young wife looking at him with doubt, Shi Yi said, “I want to give you a gift.”

“I seem to have received a lot of gifts recently,” Yu Zhiyi said. ‘What could it be? Hmm… He gave the illustrated book first, then the ring and the marriage certificate. And now this mystery gift?’

Each one was more valuable than the other, and they were all things she couldn’t refuse.

Shi Yi seemed to know the way around the community and even had the gate card. After they entered, he turned right and led her directly to the second floor using the elevator. 

When he took a key from his pocket, Yu Zhiyi thought of something but was unsure. 

It wasn’t until the door opened that she saw the style and layout inside; her mind became clear. 

Some time ago, Shi Yi showed her some decoration styles and tricked her into expressing her ideas. It seemed now they were turned into reality. 

“This is a gift to you. A home that truly belongs to us.”

“I have no idea…” She was pleased, but she was also a little bit guilty. “I think I could have done better. You always take care of things first.” Her nose reddened as she sniffed. “I don’t know how I can repay you for being worthy of your kindness.”

“As a man, I should give you more than just affection. I should also take responsibility for providing you with a quality life.” Shi Yi held her in his arms and said, “I will never let Mrs. Shi suffer any grievances.”

He knew that marriage was not a child’s play, and he needed to be responsible. So since he had decided to marry her, he started preparing things. 

Upon hearing Shi Yi’s words, Yu Zhiyi started laughing.

It was a two-story house. 

The living room, kitchen, and bathroom were on the first floor, and there were three bedrooms on the second floor. 

The largest room that Shi Yi showed her was the master bedroom, and it wasn’t set out like a single person’s room. It even included items such as a dressing table. 

She liked this new home very much. ‘But… isn’t this a little far away from Shi Yi’s workplace.’Yu Zhiyi pondered for a while and asked, “Are we two going to live here from now on?”

“What else? Yiyi, do you still want me to stay alone in the empty room?” He asked with a raised eyebrow. 

Yu Zhiyi: “!!!”

‘Hey, we are not talking about the same thing!’

Not only had Shi Yi teased her, but he had remembered that she was not feeling well. “Are you feeling better now?”

“Much better,” Yu Zhiyi muttered. 

“We don’t have brown sugar here. Later, I’ll head outside and get some.”

“Don’t bother, it will be fine after today.”

“Anyway, it’s better to buy it. We’ll need it later.”

After Shi Yi went to buy things, Yu Zhiyi went to the kitchen.

The kitchen was filled with appliances. Even the fridge was filled with food. 

It was just a matter of two more owners moving in. 

Yu Zhiyi took some food from the refrigerator and started to prepare dinner for the day. She couldn’t help Shi Yi with work, so she could only take care of him in this way.

Yu Zhiyi’s ability to make food was the only thing she could suppress in Shi Yi, and she was proud of it.

At least she could satisfy Shi Yi’s stomach!

After putting the washed rice into the rice cooker and pressing the cook switch, Yu Zhiyi suddenly remembered something.

She stood at the stairs and called Ruan Qing. 

This time, the other party answered the phone. 

“Yiyi?” Ruan Qing was a little taken aback as she had not spoken to her daughter in a long time.

Yu Zhiyi held the phone to his ear while her other hand moved back and forth on the railing. “I have something to tell you.”

“What’s the matter?” Ruan Qing asked curiously.

Yu Zhiyi lowered her head and casually said, “I’m married.”

The other party was stunned for ten seconds before absorbing the information. “Got married?” Ruan Qing was initially shocked. “How old are you? Who are you married to?” Then she remembered someone and asked hurriedly, “Is it Shi Yi?”

“Hmm… Yes.”

“How old are you? Why didn’t you discuss it with me before you married him?” You are such a naive child.” As a mother, Ruan Qing was anxious.

In Ruan Qing’s mind, Yu Zhiy was just a girl who stepped into society. So how could she marry young? It was not a joke, but as the mother, she didn’t know it. 

Although Ruan Qing was triggered, Yu Zhiyi seemed particularly calm. After hearing Ruan Qing’s words, she was actually calmer than before she got the marriage certificate yesterday.

She explained. “I called you yesterday, but you didn’t answer.”

Ruan Qing: “Mom’s phone ran out of battery yesterday.”

She had no idea that her elder daughter had contacted her because there was no call record once she turned on the phone.

“Well, it doesn’t matter.” 

For Yu Zhiyi, whether Ruan Qing received that call or not, she would not change her decision. 

“Yiyi, Mom’s mind is a little confused now. Tell me, when did you get the marriage certificate? Why was it so sudden? Is it…”

Ruan Qing’s suggestion was a lousy one. ‘Yu Zhiyi was still enrolled at school, after all. Why is she so eager to receive the certificate if there isn’t a strange reason?’

Ruan Qing said something that Yu Zhiyi didn’t understand and didn’t know what the second half of the sentence meant.

“You forgot that yesterday was my 22nd birthday.”

‘My god! If I remembered her birthday, then I would have called her. Then she will tell me…’ Yu Zhiyi’s words were like a thorn stuck in Ruan Qing’s throat. “Yiyi, Mom is not…”

It wasn’t intentional.

Yu Zhiyi went up the stairs while talking to her mother. “It’s okay; I’m used to it anyway. I’m calling just to tell you, not to ask for your consent, nor do I need your advice.”

“Okay, now that things have come to this, I will not let you separate, but there are some things I still need to clarify. How much did their family give as a betrothal gift? And when are you planning on holding your wedding?” Ruan Qing started to enquire about the specifics of the wedding, sounding like a concerned mother.

But Yu Zhiyi found these words to be extremely cruel. Anyway, her relationship with Shi Yi was not something that others could handle. 

Yu Zhiyi was going to hang up the phone when she heard a child sobbing loudly on Ruan Qing’s end.
