Absolutely Spoiled - Chapter 5

Chapter 5
One day, when they were going to school, Yu Zhiyi counted her fingers with her head down. Seeing that she was going to bump into an electric pole in front, Shi Yi took a quick step forward, covering her forehead with his palm, and yelled, “Look at the road!”
Although Shi Yi scolded Yu Zhiyi, she was not afraid at all. She raised her face and replied, “Brother, my birthday is coming soon.”
Shi Yi hummed, and said, “There are still five days.”
The little girl opened her eyes wide and expressed her admiration. “Brother is amazing!”
Shi Yi: “Stupid.” He even prepared the presents in advance, and there was no need to calculate the time.
Before going home, Shi Yi reached out and grabbed Yu Zhiyi’s ponytail. “The homework assigned by the math teacher today is a bit difficult, if you can’t understand it, come to me and I will teach you.”
Hearing Shi Yi’s words, Yu Zhiyi tilted her head and asked, “Today’s math question is difficult?”
“Hmm…”
“Then I’ll come directly to your home to do my homework!” She happily made a decision, “Brother, wait a minute, I’ll go back and tell grandma.”
Yu Zhiyi opened the door, went inside, and saw there were new household appliances in the house. Puzzled, she called out, “Grandma?”
But no one answered her, so she went to her uncle’s house next door, where she heard lively conversations.
Yu Zhiyi poked her head in quietly and saw a few unfamiliar yet familiar people.
Suddenly, a five- or six-year-old girl ran out chasing a toy car, making Yu Zhiyi frightened. Then everyone inside noticed her.
“One by one?” Ruan Qing stood up and hurriedly walked towards her daughter outside the door.
Yu Zhiyi opened her mouth and called out in an unfamiliar voice, “Mom.”
Yu Zhiyi’s father, Yu Kai, and her mother, Ruan Qing, went out to work more than ten years ago, and they only came twice in this time period. So Yu Zhiyi was not very familiar with them. However, those two were her blood relatives who brought her into the world. Even though they had rarely seen each other for so many years, she still longed for the love of her parents.
Shi Yi waited at the door for a while, then walked in. He saw the scene of mother and daughter embracing from a distance, so he stood there quietly without stepping forward to disturb them.
“Yiyi, come and take a look at the present that mother bought for you.” Ruan Qing joyfully took her eldest daughter home to unwrap the present, but Yu Zhiyi withdrew her hand, saying, “Brother is waiting for me outside, I have to go and talk to him first.”
“Brother?” Ruan Qing couldn’t understand who that brother was.
Yu Zhiyi hurriedly ran outside and crashed into someone’s arms. She looked up and saw that it was Shi Yi. “Brother! My parents are back!” Her excited tone and joyful eyes were undisguised.
Shi Yi touched her head. “I see, you go back to accompany your mom and dad first, come here when you are free. If not, I will teach you at school tomorrow.”
“Yeah!” She nodded happily.
Shi Yi could fully understand her mood at the moment, after all, all children hope to be cared for by their parents.
……………………….
The Yu family husband and wife had earned some money by working outside those years, and this time they came back to buy a few new sets of furniture for the house, adding a refrigerator and a washing machine.
Ruan Qing held her five-year-old daughter with one hand, and it was only then that Yu Zhiyi realised that the little girl with a mushroom head and short hair with bangs just now was her younger sister—Yu Xinyan.
The last time she saw her sister was three years ago, she was very different from her current appearance, so Yu Zhiyi didn’t recognise her at first.
Ruan Qing happily took out all the presents: a winter padded jacket, a spring coat, a summer skirt—everything—and said to her eldest daughter, “Yiyi, these were bought for you, do you like them?”
“I like them.” As long as they were gifts from her mother, she liked them.
Yu Zhiyi’s sister, Yu Xinyan, took out a box of fruit candies from the bag and asked her mother to tear it up for her to eat. Ruan Qing put away the whole box without giving it to her and said, “This is candy for your sister, you can’t eat it.”
Yu Xinyan, who couldn’t eat the candy, was very unhappy and jumped up to grab it.
Ruan Qing didn’t give it to her youngest daughter but handed the fruit candy to Yu Zhiyi. “Yiyi, this is imported fruit candy. Mom specially picked it for you. There are many flavours.”
Yu Zhiyi accepted the candy and smiled. “Thank you, mother.”
Seeing that the candy was in her sister’s hands, Yu Xinyan immediately changed her target. “Sister, give me candy.”
Yu Zhiyi’s heart softened when she saw her sister’s pitiful appearance, and she was about to take it from the box, but Ruan Qing stopped her. “It’s okay, there are a lot of candies here, which can be shared with my sister.” Yu Zhiyi said.
Ruan Qing replied, “Yanyan is going to change her teeth, she can’t eat candy.”
Yu Xinyan liked to eat candy when she was a child, Ruan Qing had been controlling it, and now she started to replace her teeth when she was less than six years old.
“Keep it safe, don’t let your sister steal it.” Ruan Qing carefully reminded her.
Mom and Dad brought Yu Zhiyi clothes, snacks, and some study stationery. She took all the clothes back to the room, arranged them and hung them on the shelves, and arranged the stationery.
She convinced herself again, “Mom and Dad have given me so many gifts, I should be grateful to them!”
The adults arranged a reunion dinner at the uncle’s house, and they all went to the uncle’s house. Yu Zhiyi finished the homework and went to her uncles’ house.
Although her uncle’s house was next door, she seldom went there and basically ate alone with her grandma, or at Shi Yi’s house.
Because the uncle’s family received gifts, they were very polite to Yu Zhiyi’s parents.
The five-year-old sister still didn’t like to eat, she kept holding the toy in her hand, and she would only take two bites if Ruan Qing fed her. Yu Zhiyi raised her head occasionally to see her mother chasing her sister to feed her, then silently lowered her head and ate slowly.
Father Yu was drinking with Yu Zhiyi’s uncle. Occasionally, he caught a glimpse of the eldest daughter, who only ate a little food, so he directly put a large piece of meat into her bowl and said, “Yi Yi, eat more meat, seeing how thin you are.”
Seeing the extra pieces of meat in the bowl, Yu Zhiyi froze for a moment. It was stir-fried with chilli peppers, and she remembered what happened when she ate the spicy chicken Shi Yi brought to school.
Fortunately, her grandmother, who was sitting behind her, saved her by taking the piece of meat, saying, “Yiyi has been suffering from stomach burn recently, so she doesn’t eat spicy food.”
Father Yu nodded. “Then you eat more vegetables.”
Yu Zhiyi whispered in response, “Okay.” In the end, she only ate half a bowl of white rice and drank some soup. The adults drank and chatted slowly, she couldn’t wait, so she went back alone first.
……………………….
Back in her room, Yu Zhiyi put two new, beautiful signature pens into her school bag, grabbed a handful of fruit candies, and stuffed them into her pocket before she went to Shi’s house.
By that time, Shi Yi had already finished his homework and started playing a video game.
Today, Ning Suya was late due to something, so she had just started cooking.
When Yu Zhyii knocked on the door, Shi Yi didn’t hear it at all, it was Ning Suya who opened the door.
“One by one is here. Come in.”
Yu Zhiyi: “I have some maths problems I want to ask my brother.”
Ning Suya: “Your brother is in the room, you can go in and find him.”
Yu Zhiyi was very familiar with Shi’s house, and entering Shi Yi’s room was like entering her own room. When she opened the door and entered, Shi Yi was still fighting fiercely in the game.
Yu Zhiyi stood in the back silently, and waited for Shi Yi to finish the game before calling out, “Brother.”
Shi Yi turned his head suddenly and looked at her in surprise. “Why are you here?”
Yu Zhiyi put down the schoolbag and took out the maths book from it.
There were two chairs in front of the desk, and they sat on their familiar chairs and opened the book.
Shi Yi: “Your parents are back, don’t you need to stay with them at home?”
Yu Zhiyi: “They’re at my uncle’s house, drinking.”
Shi Yi: “Oh.” He understood that it was a long process for parents to drink and chat. “What about your little sister? You don’t play with her either?”
Yu Zhiyi: “Sister… I don’t know how to play with her.”
“Oh~” When Shi Yi heard this, his clever eyes rolled. “So, there is no common topic for different age groups, you see, the two of us can play together!” This was Shi Yi’s professional brainwashing.
But the innocent little girl thought that it made sense, and nodded in agreement. “I like to play with my brother.”
Shi Yi patted the little girl’s head, feeling very relieved.
Yu Zhiyi suddenly remembered something, took out two new pens from her school bag, and put them on the table. “Mom bought me a box of pens, I chose two colours you like and give them to you.” Then, she grabbed a handful of candies from her pocket and handed them to him, mumming, “There are candies.”
These two things were the only ones she could give as gifts because she couldn’t give the clothes she got from her mother to Shi Yi.
Before Shi Yi had time to be happy with the gift of the two pens, he was attracted by the candy in her hand, but not because he liked to eat it. “Yu Zhiyi! Did I tell you that you can’t eat candies now?” He took all the candies away and didn’t give them to her. Holding her chin with his fingers, Shi Yi ordered: “Open your mouth.”
She opened her mouth obediently.
Shi Yi carefully inspected her teeth.
He said solemnly, “You are not allowed to eat candy until your teeth are replaced, do you know that?”
Before Yu Zhiyi could make a statement, Ning Suya suddenly knocked on the door and came in. “Have you eaten one by one? Auntie will give you an extra meal.”
Shi Yi rushed to answer. “Mom, remember not to add spicy food to the dishes for a while, one by one, she hasn’t recovered from the stomach burn.”
Ning Suya smiled and waved the spatula in her hand. “Okay, just because you worry too much. You have been talking about this for so many days. Can’t I know?” Saying that Ning Suya turned and went to the kitchen.
Shi Yi withdrew his gaze and was about to continue telling her, but he found that the little girl’s tears were falling down like golden beans.
Shi Yi suddenly panicked and was coaxed. “Yiyi, I didn’t scold you, so don’t cry.”
Yu Zhiyi shook her head, she was not crying because Shi Yi forbade her to eat candy.
The smart Shi Yi only panicked when Yu Zhiyi was crying, and awkwardly wiped away her tears, coaxing. “Don’t cry, when your teeth grow back, your brother will buy you candy.”
