Absolutely Spoiled - Chapter 53.2
Chapter 53.2 – Little Bun
When Xiao Shiyu turned three years old, his parents enrolled him in kindergarten.
Because of his father’s busy work schedule, his mother picked him up and sent him off to kindergarten every day. However, Xiaoyu did not claim to like one parent over the other—rather, he loved them both equally.
Every night, Xiao Shiyu would go home and read to his parents what he had learnt that day so that they could understand his learning progress.
****
One morning, Shi Yi woke up his son.
With a confused look on his face, Xiao Shiyu opened his sleepy eyes and muttered, “Dad.”
Shi Yi hugged his son and said with a smile, “Dad will take you to school today.”
“Where’s Mom?”
“Mom didn’t sleep well last night and needs to rest.”
“I understand.”
Shi Yi helped his son to wash and get dressed. Then he set the table for breakfast.
Xiao Shiyu got up on the chair and took the fork to begin eating.
The sound of heavy rain outside was growing louder when Shi Yi unlocked the balcony’s floor to ceiling window.
“Dad, I’m done eating.”
Shi Yi picked up the trash on the table and tossed it in the trash can after Xiao Shiyu finished his breakfast.
Xiao Shiyu sat at the doorway, putting on his shoes while wearing his bag on his back.
The kindergarten was near their house, and it would only take ten minutes by foot.
There were puddles on the ground since it rained today. When they saw puddles, adults would either step over them or take an alternate route. However, our Xiao Shiyu was a little boy after all, so he just wanted to have fun on the way.
Seeing that, Shi Yi recalled his childhood. He remembered that most of the children in his class would purposefully step on puddles, resulting in little water splashes all around. They thought of it as a game and thought it was fascinating.
“Dad, can I play in the water?” Xiao Shiyu asked as he hung on his feet above the water while waiting for the traffic light to change.
Shi Yi didn’t scold his son but warned him sternly, “You can’t do that now; it’s school time.”
The little boy retracted his foot and continued to ask, “Then when can it be okay?”
Shi Yi paused for a moment and said to him, “When Dad picks you up in the afternoon, if you still want to play, Dad can take you to experience it once.”
Children’s constant curiosity about things they had never experienced was not unreasonable.
*****
Xiao Shiyu was eager for school to end in the afternoon because of what Shi Yi had stated earlier in the day.
Shi Yi picked up the child from the kindergarten immediately after school ended.
Xiao Shiyu was still thinking about what had occurred this morning. Bending over Shi Yi, he asked, “Dad, can I play in the water now?” pulling at his sleeve.
Shi Yi took the bag in his hand and opened it to reveal children’s rain boots and coats that had been purchased specifically for little boy’s amusement.
“Dad, should we call Mom and tell?”
“Don’t worry, I told Mom before I left.”
To ensure that Xiao Shiyu had joy playing in the water, Shi Yi put on his son a raincoat and rain boots and led him to a quiet area.
Even though he might not understand children’s entertainment as an adult, he could still allow the kids to try it out as long as it didn’t go against the rules.
After playing for a while, Xiao Shiyu’s curiosity was fully satiated, but he thought this way of having fun was inappropriate for him, so he told Shi Yi, “Dad, this is not fun.” In a little voice, the little boy pointed to his transparent raincoat and said, “My raincoat is all dirty.”
“Then you should avoid puddles when you see them next time, do you understand?” Shi Yi gave him a lesson.
“Yeah!” Xiao Shiyu gave a quick nod in response.
On the way home, Shi Yi saw a young girl putting up a stand with flower baskets. The baskets contained vibrant flowers.
Shi Yi instantly realised that Mother’s Day was approaching, but the child next to him could not be aware of the occasion.
In addition to looking left and right, Xiao Shiyu focused on the lovely flowers. “The flowers are beautiful,” he added, pointing at the bunch of pink carnations.
Upon hearing his son’s words, Shi Yi halted and looked at the boy.
Feeling his father’s gaze, Xiao Shiyu just looked up and said, “Send it to mom.”
Shi Yi chuckled and asked, “Who will buy it?”
Although Xiao Shiyu did not understand the hidden meaning of his father’s words, he just replied, “Dad, give it to me; I give it to Mom.”
Holding the child’s hand, Shi Yi guided him to the flower shop.
Seeing the cuteness of the little boy, the flower vendor gave some extra free flowers.
When the flowers were given to Xiao Shiyu, he hurried to embrace them.
After Shi Yi paid money, the little boy asked,
Xiao Shiyu asked him expectantly after Shi Yi had paid, “Dad, can you help me to carry the flowers?”
“I can help you, but what if Mom only praises you when she receives the gift?” Shi Yi asked, bending down.
“I will help Dad get praise!” Xiao Shiyu exclaimed with excitement.
Shi Yi curled his lips and smiled. “Very good.”
So the father and son went home with a bouquet of flowers.
*****
Yu Zhiyi finished the cooking and waited for the father and son.
The father and son returned just as she was placing the final bowl of soup on the table. “Both of you have done a pretty good job at timing. Wash your hands to eat.”
Yu Zhiyi didn’t notice that Shi Yi was hiding something behind his back.
After cleaning his hands, Xiao Shiyu hurried over to Yu Zhiyi, clasped her hand, and said, “Mom, we have a gift for you.”
“What gift?”
“Hmm…” Xiao Shiyu lifted his head and held out his hand to his father.
Since the two had already discussed this, Shi Yi pulled out the carnations behind his back and gave them to his son when he extended his hands.
The child’s face was entirely hidden by the bouquet of flowers he was holding in his hands.
Nevertheless, Xiao Shiyu persisted and gave the gift to his mother, saying, “Mom, this is for you. Happy Mother’s Day.”
“What? How did you know Mother’s Day is approaching, baby?”
The fact that the child reached out to wish her a “happy Mother’s Day” astonished her.
Xiao Shiyu clarified, saying, “Our teacher said that Mother’s Day is a holiday for mothers, and we should thank our mothers.”
“I’m grateful, sweetie. Mom is so pleased with your present.” Yu Zhiyi knelt down and gave the little boy a big kiss on the face.
In addition to being overjoyed to be recognised, Xiao Shiyu politely requested rewards from his father, saying, “Mom also wants to thank Dad.”
“Why?”
“Because my father bought the flowers.”
“Oh~” With a sweet voice, she spoke as her loving eyes fell on Shi Yi. “Thank you, husband.”
“Yiyi, you can’t be so partial to me in front of the child, right?” Shi Yi exclaimed, laughing.
Yu Zhiyi: ‘What? Partiality? How did she act?’
Shi Yi stepped forward and gestured to his cheek.
Yu Zhiyi grasped his meaning.
Shi Yi had become a lot more confident and less bashful in recent years.
Yu Zhiyi was going to plant a kiss on the side of her husband’s cheek as she stood on tiptoe, but Shi Yi turned his head and precisely touched her lips with his.
It happened in front of their son, so Yu Zhiyi’s face became bright red.
****
Shiyu went to Yunyang City when he was five years old in order to spend some time with his grandparents.
Over fifty-year-old, Ning Suya had retired early. She visited City C frequently as she missed her grandson.
Yu Zhiyi’s recent novel had reached a bottleneck, so she planned to travel to relax her mind and absorb new inspiration.
Although parents would give their kids their undivided attention and love, that didn’t mean that their lives would centre around children.
Shi Yi proposed that Xiao Shiyu could go back to Yunyang City to attend the kindergarten for a semester.
It would help the grandparents to bond with their grandson as well as the parents to have some spare time.
Naturally, the husband and wife did not feel pressured to make this choice. They also directly sought the child’s thoughts prior to the plan’s implementation.
“Mom and Dad frequently have to travel long distances for work these days. Do you want to spend some time living with your grandparents?”
“How much longer are Mom and Dad going to work?”
“One or two months, or maybe longer.” She couldn’t fully ignore the child even if she stepped outside to unwind because they couldn’t be certain of the child’s understanding of time. She also considered taking the child on the vacation with her if he chose not to.
But Shi Yu hadn’t wasted any time in making up their son’s mind. “Your grandparents called me last time and said they missed you very much, and you miss them too.”
*****
Yu Zhiyi returned to Yunyang City with her son in hand in April. She would stay with the youngster for a few days to get him used to this place before leaving.
In order to get Shiyu a few new outfits, Yu Zhiyi took him to the mall.
A mother carrying a little girl approached while they were waiting for the lift.
They had quite different outfits on. Someone pointed accusing fingers at the mother and daughter.
The little girl and her mother were wearing Lolita attire.
Some people now view the gorgeous and elegant outfit as an abnormality. An old woman even whispered, “Young people nowadays dress up like this with their children. This society now lacks morality.”
Even though the old woman said it quietly, everyone heard it.
Yu Zhiyi frowned slightly and subconsciously covered his son’s ears, not wanting him to hear the dirty words.
Shiyu raised his head and smiled brightly. His childish voice was particularly clear in the crowd: “Mom, look! It’s a princess!”
