Absolutely Spoiled - Chapter 59.4

Chapter 59.4 –Tingyu x Luobai 5
After everything was over, Wen Tingyu didn’t leave like last time; she quietly lay beside the man.
After today, her determination became stronger.
Although the man rejected the woman many times in the past years, he knew how he felt about Wen Tingyu.
Whenever he wanted to confess his feelings for her, those people in the outside world would always give him a wake-up call, just like three years ago.
The transcribed notes, his favourite books, the drinks and food that occasionally appeared on the desk… During those years in high school, Wen Tingyu’s shadow was always by his side.
But if she didn’t say it, he wouldn’t mention it.
Later she told him, but he didn’t dare to respond.
In high school, he got to know Wen Tingyu’s grandparents, who treated him well. They even reached out to him during the college entrance exams and invited him to stay at their place for a couple of days.
He initially turned them down.
But somehow, Wen Tingyu found out and came to see him in person.
“Shen Luobai, just stay at my house. The college entrance exam is super important.”
“And we can keep an eye on each other to avoid any surprises.”
What really got to him wasn’t the first part, but that last bit.
The college entrance exam was crucial, and he wanted to look out for her, so he agreed to move in with the Wens.
Those few days were when he felt closest to her.
The night after the exams, Wen Tingyu, who had a few drinks with her friends, playfully bit him.
She might not even remember it.
She bit him, and he couldn’t help but kiss her back.
Because he knew deep down that no one else had held him in their heart for three whole years as she had.
Obsession could lead to some serious delusions. Honestly, he had never really been the one in control of this relationship.
It was just the day after that whole incident when Wen Bin found him. There was no need for threats or warnings; just a few simple words were enough.
“Sure, there’s an old saying that a hero doesn’t care about their origins, but you’ve got to be standing tall first.”
“Honestly, if you’re with Tingyu, what do you really have to offer her?”
“Money? Time? Or something that doesn’t even matter?”
Hearing Wen Bin’s words, he was speechless. He couldn’t provide money, and he definitely couldn’t give her his time. He was too busy chasing after cash, and some things just weren’t worth being greedy over. So, he walked away.
Later on, when Wen Tingyu’s grandfather had an accident, they crossed paths again at the hospital. This time, he steeled himself and pushed her away.
Wen Tingyu went to Heng City while he remained here, burdened by his responsibilities. Even now, he still felt small and unworthy, so he left all the choices up to her, always making sure she had an escape route.

When Wen Tingyu awoke, the aroma of food filled the air. She lay on the bed with her hands covering her face, yawning, reluctant to rise but unable to drift back to sleep. During this time of evening, a sense of emptiness often enveloped her. Fortunately, upon turning, she noticed another person present in the room.
Shen Luobai placed the food before her and remarked, “I was concerned you might be hungry.” He had taken the initiative to make the meal in advance.
Wen Tingyu was not hungry, but after seeing the effort of the man, she replied, “Indeed, I have exerted quite a bit of energy.”
Shen Luobai responded with a silent acknowledgment. ‘This woman possesses a remarkable ability to communicate; her words, though filled with harshness, were always to the point.’
He helped her in opening the lunch box. “Do you mind if I smoke?” he inquired.
“You smoke as well?” she asked in surprise.
“Only occasionally,” he admitted, explaining that when his mind was burdened and he felt restless, he sought an outlet.
Wen Tingyu nodded in understanding, granting him permission.
Nevertheless, Shen Luobai took several steps away from the woman to ensure she could still breathe fresh air.
After Wen Tingyu ate a few bites, she felt she couldn’t eat anymore. Suddenly, she rose, approached him, and pointed at the cigarette in his hand. “I want to try it too.”
Shen Luobai evaded her hand, frowning as he said, “Smoking is harmful.”
“You are quite hypocritical,” she retorted, refusing to obey the man.
In a swift motion, Shen Luobai seized her wrist, guiding her back to her seat, and throwing the cigarette into the ashtray.
As she attempted to rise once more, he gently but firmly pushed her back down. His expression turned serious. “I need to discuss something important with you.”
