Chapter 60.1 – Tingyu x Luobai 6

Most of the time, Shen Luobai looked indifferent, ignoring all the people and things that had nothing to do with him.

But now, things were different; she was in his life and deserved his full attention.

 Wen Tingyu had rarely seen him like this, so she settled into her chair, gave him a nod, and said, “Go on.”

‘I have to work hard to give you a good future.’Letting out a deep sigh, the man started to reason things. “You all know my background. My life revolves around work and making money. I hardly have time for a relationship. After graduation, my working hours will be even longer than during my internship… If we were together, I wouldn’t be able to spend time with you.” He lowered his head and looked a little depressed.

Wen Tingyu frowned and tilted her head to study him. “Shen Luobai, are you really telling me you’ve been holding back all these years just because of this?”

“That’s not the only reason.” He hesitated for a moment. “It’s also about my mom…”

Taking care of his mother was his duty. If a girl got involved with him, she’d inevitably have to deal with his family, and not everyone could handle the drama and stress that came with it.

She was used to being cherished by her family, so why should she endure any of his burdens?

Upon hearing that, Wen Tingyu was stunned for a few seconds. “Don’t give me that ‘it’s for your own good’ line. I’m not buying it. So what if we’re not a good match?” she questioned the man after pondering.

She knew what had happened to her parents. They were well matched with everything, and all their relatives and friends said they were a perfect match. But in the end, their relationship ended tragically. 

“Plus, you care for your mom because you’re a good son. You don’t let setbacks get you down; you’re driven and responsible.” She focused on the positives and added with a hint of pride, “I have no respect for those who are lazy and lack ambition!”

When the woman praised him, the man was completely unable to resist.

He considered her a rare gem, something he never thought he could have. So now he wanted to keep her beside him. 

Their gaze met following their lips. 

She finally got what she had been longing for and even tasted the hint of cigarettes. 

“Maybe you should stop smoking?”

“Sure thing.”

Their relationship was finally official, and Wen Tingyu couldn’t wait to share the news with Yu Zhiyi. 

“Congratulations!” Yu Zhiyi was very happy for her friend. ‘After years of pursuit, you finally got what you wanted.’

Although they had been classmates in high school, Yu Zhiyi and Shen Luobai weren’t close, but they weren’t strangers either. Their pairing was a reason to celebrate, so Yu Zhiyi decided to treat them to a meal.

Since Shen Luobai only had two days off, they quickly set up an appointment for the next morning. 

Yu Zhiyi picked a good spot, and they agreed on a time, arriving one after the other.

Yu Zhiyi walked in holding Shi Yi’s hand. When she spotted Wen Tingyu, she let go and headed over. 

The two girls had plenty to chat about.

At that time, Wen Tingyu discovered something strange.

There were still red marks on Shi Yi’s arms that had not yet disappeared. At first glance, she thought…

But a closer look revealed something else, as Shi Yi’s body was still scented with the scent of floral water.

‘That was definitely a mosquito bite.’

Despite this, Wen Tingyu, who was in a good mood, still couldn’t help but use this matter to deceive Yu Zhiyi.

Yu Zhiyi’s reaction was as she expected. 

Yu Zhiyi even lowered her voice when speaking to her friend. “Ah, how is that possible!”

“I thought you had made something of yourself.” Wen Tingyu patted her shoulders gently twice to comfort her and calm her down.

When Yu Zhiyi turned to glance at Wen Tingyu, he caught sight of the mark beneath Wen Tingyu’s collarbone. The girl’s cheeks flushed instantly. She wanted to say something but struggled to find the right words. Finally, she stammered, “You, you are…”

“Yep,” Wen Tingyu replied casually, leaving Yu Zhiyi momentarily speechless.

When it came to academics, she could chat endlessly, but when the topic shifted to intimacy… she was pretty inexperienced. Yu Zhi felt shy hearing how calmly Wen Tingyu talked about it.

“You’re blushing. Shi Yi has glanced over here a few times, probably curious about our conversation,” Wen Tingyu said with a smirk.

“I’m done talking to you.” Yu Zhiyi, feeling embarrassed, huffed and turned away. “Brother…” Yu Zhiyi returned to Shi Yi’s side.

“Tsk…” Wen Tingyu clicked her tongue and shook her head slightly.

The girl was so caught up in her feelings that she didn’t even think to resist.

But honestly, resisting would be silly.

Wen Tingyu had initially just wanted to enjoy a meal with her friends before heading out, but as they dined, her mind began to wander.

Truth be told, most single folks feel a bit “off” around Shi Yi and Yu Zhi, and even those in relationships might feel a bit down.

Yet, if you viewed them as a love guide, it was quite a sight to behold.

There was no comparison between how Shi Yi treated Yu Zhi and how Shen Luobai treated her; she didn’t even need to compare them to her and her boyfriend. But if only Shen Luobai could pick up a thing or two and be a bit more forward with her, that would be great!

Shi Yi would get Yu Zhi her favourite drink, peel the wrapper off the straw, insert it into the bottle, and then hold it up for her to sip before putting it down.

Shen Luobai didn’t have that kind of closeness.

Shen Luobai had no close friends. He almost never ate with “friends” on such occasions, and he didn’t know that there could be so much sweetness between couples.

Life was so stressful that he had no time to think about anything else.

But this time he truly saw what “love” meant. This was probably the feeling that every girl wanted.

Shen Luobai stole a glance at Wen Tingyu, who was quietly eating from her bowl without showing much emotion.

While they were having lunch together at the hospital, he noticed that Wen Tingyu didn’t seem to dislike any food in particular, but she wasn’t a fan of vinegar, couldn’t handle anything too spicy, and wasn’t keen on garlic either.

Just give him a little more time, and he’ll get to know her even better.
