Absolutely Spoiled - Chapter 60.3

Chapter 60.3 – Tingyu x Luobai 6
Wen Tingyu and Shen Luobai made their way back to Yunyang City in the afternoon.
She had hoped they could spend one more night together, but Shen Luobai needed to head home to take care of his mother.
Shen Luobai’s mother, Qiu Huiyi’s situation was unique, so Wen Tingyu could understand her boyfriend’s thoughts.
Wen Tingyu held his hand and said, “I can come with you to see your mom.”
“...Mmm… Let’s find a better time,” Shen Luobai said, politely declining Wen Tingyu’s suggestion.
Qiu Huiyi hadn’t had an episode in several days, which was great, but it also made him anxious, not knowing when the next one might hit.
After hearing this, she fell silent.
Shen Luobai probably felt like he wasn’t being the best boyfriend. He thought about the relationship between Shi Yi and Yu Zhiyi.
He was used to being on his own, and suddenly wanting to be affectionate with someone else wasn’t something he could just flip a switch on.
But since he had agreed to be with Wen Tingyu, he wouldn’t make excuses for himself.
Shen Luobai stepped closer and, for the first time, shared his feelings, saying, “Tingyu, it’s not that I don’t want to…“
“I know,” Wen Tingyu replied calmly, waving him off. “Just go back. Drive safe, and text me when you get home.”
Shen Luobai looked at the ground, hiding the emotions swirling in his eyes. “You’re envious of them, right?”
Even though it wasn’t said outright, Wen Tingyu got the hint.
Shen Luobai’s response surprised her; she thought he would just walk away.
When he asked, she answered honestly, “I am envious…”
She envied Shi Yi and Yu Zhiyi’s love. They could be together without any worries.
What she admired was the natural connection they shared, built over years of familiarity.
Her thoughts were interrupted as a shadow fell over her.
Shen Luobai had stepped closer, and they were nearly touching.
He tilted his head down, looked at Wen Tingyu, and said, “I will learn.”
“Ah…” Wen Tingyu let out a soft sound, as if she was starting to grasp something. The man whose heart she had managed to open up was finally taking the initiative, which was exactly what she had hoped for.
“The way people connect varies with their personalities. I don’t need you to learn anything else; just choose me and stick with that.
I’m not upset, and I won’t get mad at you over this.”
I’ll wait until you’re ready to share.”
She knew the heavy burdens that weighed on Shen Luobai’s heart.

This was the first time Shen Luobai felt the warmth of someone trusting and accepting him, and it lifted his spirits. Even though he believed he had a good grip on his emotions, Qiu Huiyi quickly noticed something was off with her son.
Qiu Huiyi hadn’t been feeling unwell lately. She was in clear mind and even took walks nearby when someone was around.
That evening, she made soup. Normally, Shen Luobai would be studying in his room at that hour, so she brought him a bowl directly.
The soundproofing in the house wasn’t great, and as she approached the door, she overheard him talking inside.
Shen Luobai rarely made phone calls; he was the type to stick to business and avoid small talk. But something felt different this time. His tone was much more relaxed than usual.
Though Qiu Huiyi didn’t often interact with outsiders, she had been married long enough to have an inkling of what was going on…
She did not disturb her son but walked lightly and brought the soup back.
She recalled when they were in the village, someone playfully asked Shen Luobai if a lot of his female classmates had a crush on him.
She knew that Shen Luobai had always been the quiet type and really didn’t care about stuff like that.
She was aware that people praised her son because of his appearance. When she was in a good mood, she asked Shen Luobai if he had a girlfriend.
Instead of saying “No,” he replied, “I won’t have a girlfriend.” He wasn’t planning to take anyone along until he got his life sorted out. If her son happened to find a girl he genuinely liked now, she would be truly happy about it.

Wen Tingyu frequently visited Shen Luobai at the hospital.
When her father, Wen Bin, went in for a checkup, he accidentally found about it, and his expression turned icy.
It was obvious why—Shen Luobai was the reason. Wen Bin quickly put together their connection, and a mix of feelings washed over him. He didn’t want his daughter to be held back by someone unworthy, so he tried to intervene repeatedly, but it still ended up this way.
Actually, he respected Shen Luobai’s determination to not give in to circumstances. If Shen Luobai were on his own, he wouldn’t be so against him. But then there was Shen Luobai’s mother to consider. He couldn’t bear the thought of his daughter having to take care of someone else, especially since Qiu Huiyi was mentally unwell. He had seen Qiu Huiyi throw fits before; she acted like a spoiled child and was even tougher to manage than one. She just caused chaos for others to deal with.
After coming home, Wen Bin acted anxiously.
Ren Xin walked in with some dried clothes and noticed her husband sitting by the bed looking troubled. She asked, “What’s wrong? You’ve seemed off since you got back from the hospital.”
“Tingyu is still with that guy.”
“Let the young ones figure it out.”
Wen Bin shook his head and sighed, “She’s not your biological daughter, so you can’t really get that feeling.”
Hearing this, Ren Xin fell silent.
Realising his mistake, Wen Bin quickly added, “I didn’t mean it like that… I was just a bit too hasty.”
“It’s fine,” Ren Xin replied, shaking her head as she neatly folded the clothes and put them in the closet.

A couple of days later, Wen Bin caught Shen Luobai.
Shen Luobai wasn’t caught off guard; he had been expecting this since he started a relationship with Wen Tingyu.
“How long have you been seeing Tingyu?” Wen Bin asked.
“Two weeks,” Shen Luobai answered.
“But you said before that you wouldn’t get involved with her!”
“Yeah… Well, some things happen unexpectedly,” he admitted, especially when it came to feelings, which were tough to manage.
Wen Bin understood his daughter well; she was incredibly stubborn and wouldn’t back down easily.
“Honestly, I don’t have an issue with you personally,” he said. “But how do you plan to juggle your family and your career? You’re graduating next year, and you’ll be busy with work while also needing to care for your mother. How much time can you really dedicate to Tingyu? In today’s world, everything costs money, so what can you offer her?”
These were the very reasons he had kept pushing Wen Tingyu away.
But this time, Shen Luobai responded differently, “Uncle Wen, I won’t let those things come between us again.”
“I might not have all the answers right now, but I’ll show you through my actions. If I can’t make it work, Tingyu and I won’t last.”
Wen Bin narrowed his eyes slightly as Shen Luobai left quietly. ‘Hmph! Now, everyone dares to challenge me!’

Later that day, Shen Luobai spent time at Wen Tingyu’s place. They were wrapped up in each other, letting their actions speak for the words they found hard to say.
She noticed that Shen Luobai seemed a bit off today. “Did something happen?” she asked.
Shen Luobai didn’t say anything for a while.
Wen Tingyu: “Luobai?”
“How about I take you to meet my mom?” he finally asked.
