Absolutely Spoiled - Chapter 61.2

Chapter 61.2 – Tingyu x Luobai 7
Qiu Huiyi’s illness kicked out unexpectedly, and it became worse this time.
It was the first time she had harmed herself during an episode.
Wen Tingyu couldn’t shake off what happened in the kitchen. No matter how tough she was, it still haunted her in nightmares. She recalled stepping into the kitchen, calling out to Qiu Huiyi as “Auntie,” only to have Qiu Huiyi whip around with a kitchen knife. Before Wen Tingyu could even realise what was happening, the knife slipped and cut Qiu Huiyi’s foot.
The doctor explained that Qiu Huiyi’s latest episode was triggered by overwhelming stress, hitting her out of nowhere.
Wen Tingyu felt a chill on her back, thinking it would be her presence that triggered her boyfriend’s mother’s illness.
‘If only I hadn’t called out, maybe she wouldn’t have been so startled and gotten hurt…’
Wen Tingyu, who usually wore her heart on her sleeve, found herself drowning in guilt for the first time because of someone else. “Shen Luobai, I’m really sorry,” she thought she was doing the right thing by reaching out, but it ended up causing chaos instead.
Shen Luobai held her close. His expression was serious as he said, “It’s not your fault… My mom really cares about you.”
Qiu Huiyi’s situation had deteriorated. The doctor warned that as she ages, things could get even worse, and the fallout from each episode was unpredictable. She got hurt by her own actions, and there might be someone else who would be hurt by Qiu Huiyi next time; it was a dangerous situation.
This time it couldn’t be cured only by medicine; therefore, the doctor suggested Qiu Huiyi be hospitalised for specialised treatment.
Didn’t he want to give his mother the best care possible? But reality was harsh.
For special treatments, a lot of money was needed, and it was what Shen Luobai was lacking most. Moreover, in Qiu Huiyi’s case, treatment must be long-term to be effective, so Shen Loubai was really helpless.
Shen Luobai took another leave from the hospital to care for his mom.
When Qiu Huiyi woke up, she was filled with guilt and anxiety, and she was almost in tears. She worried that her illness might affect her son and that she might have frightened Wen Tingyu. Ignoring her own injuries, she immediately asked, “Are you and Tingyu okay? Did I scare her? You two… are you still together?”
She couldn’t bring herself to finish that last question.
Shen Luobai reassured her, “Mom, don’t stress about me.”
“How can I not worry?” Qiu Huiyi said, on the verge of tears.
She felt terrible that her son had finally started to live a normal life, and if her situation messed that up, she wouldn’t be able to forgive herself.
Shen Luobai had to clarify, “She and I still have a good relationship.”
Qiu Huiyi let out a sigh of relief. “That’s good to hear. I must have scared her. Can I call her to apologise?”
“She’ll come by to see you later.”
At first, Qiu Huiyi was sceptical, but hearing that Wen Tingyu would visit put her mind at ease.
Meanwhile, Wen Tingyu had learnt about the right foods for patients while delivering meals to her father. So, she made some soup at home and brought it over for Qiu Huiyi.
Qiu Huiyi was touched. She held Wen Tingyu’s hand and kept saying, “Did I scare you? I’m so sorry. Please don’t hold anything against Luobai because of this.”
“No, Auntie. I’m really good to him.”
Both women echoed the same sentiment.
As time went on, Shen Luobai found himself busier than ever. Since hospital interns didn’t get paid, he needed to find a way to earn some money.
He submitted a request to the hospital, and his mentor, understanding his family situation, took him to speak with the head of the department. They agreed to let him intern officially, as long as he passed his monthly exams.
Formal jobs usually kick off with an internship, but the pay during that time was pretty low.
He was stuck juggling part-time jobs everywhere just to find something that paid off quickly. Because of this, he was constantly busy with work and barely had any free time. It really wore him out, both physically and mentally.
Have a nice day!
