Absolutely Spoiled - Chapter 61.3

Chapter 61.3 – Tingyu x Luobai 7
Wen Bin, who learned about the situation of Shen Luobai, called his daughter back and gave her a scolding.
“Look what has happened! You’re with him, but you still have to cater to his mom? Does he see you as a girlfriend or just a babysitter?” Wen Bin’s words hit her hard. “Are you really in a relationship? You’re just hurting yourself!”
Even though things between her and her dad had been rocky lately, Wen Tingyu kept her cool this time and said, “I just want to help him.”
“You haven’t even graduated yet, and you have to take care of someone’s mother. Are you really thinking about tying yourself down to a family like that?” Wen Bin was frustrated and worried about his daughter.
Wen Tingyu frowned and argued. “Dad, I know what I’m doing.”
“You don’t know anything!” Wen Bin slammed his hand on the table and scolded his daughter. “You need to break up with him right now!”
That was a harsh blow, and Wen Tingyu shot back. “Didn’t you ignore me for your own feelings?”
Just a month after her mom passed away, Wen Bin had insisted on bringing Ren Xin into their lives. Even when she fought with him and stayed with her grandparents for two months, he wouldn’t budge.
‘So why is he stepping in now when I’m just trying to hold onto my own feelings?’
As usual, the father-daughter conversation ended on a sour note.
When Wen Tingyu walked out of the house, Ren Xin hurried after her, saying, “Tingyu, hold on a second.”
“Is there something you need?” Wen Tingyu asked coldly.
Ren Xin sighed and muttered, “I really want to talk to you.”
“I have nothing to say to you.” This woman had been the source of tension between her and her dad for years, and right now, she didn’t know how to feel about Ren Xin.
“Don’t you want to know what happened back then?”
Ren Xin’s words stopped Wen Tingyu’s steps.
“Back then…” Wen Tingyu was curious about what had happened at that time.
Ren Xin revealed that her parents’ divorce happened way earlier than Wen Tingyu thought, but they kept it under wraps for her sake.
Ren Xin was Wen Bin’s first love. After Wen Bin’s divorce, fate brought them back together as Ren Xin was still single. They started hanging out more, and things just clicked.
When Wen Tingyu found out about her parents’ divorce, she wished for them to reconcile. Her mom, unable to resist her daughter’s plea, was swayed and even talked to Wen Bin about getting back together.
But Wen Bin was already with Ren Xin, so he turned her down.
At that time Wen Tingyu’s mom pulled out a medical report and showed she was critically ill, and that was the reason she wanted to grant all her daughter’s wishes.
So, she met Ren Xin privately, but on the day they were supposed to meet, Ren Xin had an accident. When Ren Xin got to the hospital, they discovered she was pregnant, but sadly, it was gone.
This led to a huge fight between Wen Bin and Wen Tingyu’s mother.
Wen Tingyu’s mom wasn’t a bad person. Ren Xin’s accident haunted her, and her condition worsened. She ultimately succumbed to depression, but everyone kept the tangled story from Wen Tingyu.
A month after Wen Tingyu’s mother passed away, Wen Bin brought Ren Xin home, feeling a heavy guilt towards her.
Even when his daughter rejected the new person, he stayed calm.
After hearing this, Wen Tingyu asked, “Why didn’t you tell me this sooner?”
“Your mom is gone, and your dad doesn’t want you to carry that burden.”

Wen Tingyu’s mood took a serious dive after uncovering the truth. She picked up her phone to call Shen Luobai, wanting to say, “I need you.” But when she overheard his boss pushing him to work, she held back those vulnerable words. From the start, he had warned her that he might not have much time to spare. She didn’t blame anyone; she just felt a bit hurt.
On the flip side, Shen Luobai was also struggling. Wen Bin confronted him again, looking down his nose and saying, “So your idea of making an effort is having my daughter play nanny for your mother?” It felt like a slap in the face, and he had no comeback. Some things just couldn’t be achieved through hard work alone, and the harshness of reality was almost too much for him to bear.
When he got home, he looked worn out. Wen Tingyu was still busy in the kitchen, while his mother sat by the bed, lost in her thoughts and mumbling to herself.
He found himself in a tough spot. He felt he had to endure all the pain, not wanting Wen Tingyu to be caught up in his mess.
As night fell, there were two people arguing beneath the tree. It wasn’t really a fight, just a clash of opinions.
Wen Tingyu asked him, “Do I make you feel uncomfortable?”
“Not at all,” he replied.
Deep down, she knew exactly what Shen Luobai was thinking. What she really wanted to say was that she had never resented their relationship because of him. Wen Tingyu stepped closer and wrapped her arms around him, saying, “Take your time.”
The real issue between them was money. She cared for him and didn’t mind covering expenses, but he couldn’t stand the thought of his girl struggling because of it.

It was the first time Wen Tingyu asked for her father’s help after her mother left.
“Dad, can you… help him?”
“I can help, but you need to follow my lead.”
She once overheard Qiao Lezhi and Jiang Mier chatting about the over-the-top storylines in TV shows. She always wondered why the main characters were constantly in danger. But when those dramatic moments became her reality, she understood that people could be really vulnerable.
‘When you truly care about someone, you want the best for them, even if it means you have to take a hit.’ Her dad didn’t threaten her; she just made a choice to strike a deal with him.
Later on, Wen Tingyu went to say goodbye to Shen Luobai.
“School’s starting soon. I need to head back to Heng City.”
“Okay.”
The night before she left, they spent time together, sharing passionate kisses in that cosy room over and over again.
When she departed, she left her spare house key with Shen Luobai.
Neither of them officially said they were breaking up, but it was clear they both agreed to cut off contact.
