Absolutely Spoiled - Chapter 64.1

Chapter 64 – Tingyu x Luobai 10
Shen Luobai leaned down to grab the plastic bag from the bench and stood next to Wen Tingyu, saying, “Let’s go.”
The man stepped towards the house, but Wen Tingyu intentionally lagged a couple of steps behind the man. As she glanced at her free hands, a small smile flashed on her face.
Realising Wen Tingyu was behind him, Shen Luobai turned to look at her.
Seeing the man looking at her, Wen Tingyu picked up her pace and stepped forward. She wrapped her arm around his and gripped his hand with ease.
Shen Luobai felt a jolt run through him, the warmth in his chest spreading throughout his body, and all the feelings he had kept hidden suddenly surged to the surface.
He tightened his grip, pressing his fingers against her soft palm, tracing the delicate bones of her hand, and held her firmly with his other hand.
This time, he was choosing what his heart truly wanted.

Shen Luobai opened the door using his key. “Is your phone dead?”
“Yeah… But I forgot to bring it.”
“It’s in the room. I’ll grab it.”
Their phones were identical models, but Wen Tingyu’s phone was the latest version, a few generations ahead of Shen Luobai’s, yet they both used the same charging port.
As Wen Tingyu stepped into the house, she felt more like a visitor. Shen Luobai seemed to be staying here, clearly a regular.
As Shen Luobai pulled out the charging cable to help Wen Tingyu, his phone rang.
He handed her the charger and took a few steps away.
Wen Tingyu accepted it but didn’t immediately plug in her phone. Instead, she stood there, watching him.
Maybe her gaze was too intense to ignore, so Shen Luobai turned around and caught her eyes. Who knew what emotions were swirling beneath his calm exterior?
He sighed quietly to himself, turned back, and paused just a step away from Wen Tingyu.
However, she could hear the words coming from the other side of the phone.
It was a call from the hospital to inform him that Qiu Huiyi had settled down and was now resting. The illness had hit hard but passed just as quickly, lifting the heavy weight off his shoulders.
Wen Tingyu suggested. “Let’s go check on Auntie.”
Shen Luobai paused for a moment before shifting the topic. “Aren’t you hungry? How long has it been since you ordered takeout? You should see if it has gone cold.” He even grabbed the takeout bag, ready to open it up.
Wen Tingyu gently placed her hand on his hand to stop him, and muttered, “I can go with you.”
Shen Luobai looked at her, noticing the spark in her eyes. Even though their conversation seemed to be on different wavelengths, they both understood each other perfectly.
Wen Tingyu playfully scratched the back of his hand, mixing a bit of fun into their serious talk. “Why are you always so careful? We’re a couple; you can ask me for anything that’s reasonable.”
For instance, meeting the parents was definitely on the table if they both agreed. But Shen Luobai always held back, hesitant to make any requests.
“Shen Luobai, do you not see me as your girlfriend?” she teased, but her words hit him hard, like a stone to the chest.
He pulled her close, lowered his head, and softly nibbled at her neck, whispering, “I couldn’t ask for more.” It felt like he was laying his heart bare, hoping she would see just how deep his feelings ran.

When they entered the hospital room, Qiu Huiyi was not sleeping as they expected, but she was sitting on the bed with her eyes wide open.
‘How could she be resting like that?’
Both of them had the same doubt in their heart.
“Luobai.” Qiu Huiyi recognised her son’s footsteps and knew he was there. But when she looked up, she had a bigger surprise, and she couldn’t believe her eyes.
“Listen… listen to me…” Qiu Huiyi’s voice shook as she stared at the girl approaching her. She reached out a trembling hand, wanting to touch her.
Wen Tingyu glanced at Shen Luobai before walking over to Qiu Huiyi.
As soon as Wen Tingyu extended her hand, Qiu Huiyi grabbed it tightly. She was terrified that Wen Tingyu might vanish.
“You really are… really are…” Qiu Huiyi was so overwhelmed with joy that she couldn’t finish her words.
Wen Tingyu understood the old woman and quickly said, “Auntie, it’s me. I’m here to see you.”
“Okay, okay, okay…” Qiu Huiyi repeated the word three times, holding onto her with both hands and leaning out from under the covers.
Shen Luobai made the bed for her, but Qiu Huiyi was too focused on Wen Tingyu.
Once she confirmed that Wen Tingyu was really there, Qiu Huiyi asked cautiously, “Tingyu, can I talk to you alone for a bit?”
Her tone was a bit pleading, as if she was afraid Wen Tingyu might say no.
Wen Tingyu bit her lip and looked up.
Shen Luobai, standing behind Qiu Huiyi, gave a slight nod and quietly stepped out.
As the two of them were alone in the room, Qiu Huiyi was finally ready to ask what had been on her mind for the past few months. “Sweetheart, can you tell Auntie if you and Luobai are still together?”
Her main worry was her son’s happiness. It had been a while since she last saw Wen Tingyu, and she often wondered if they had split up, but she hesitated to ask her son, fearing it would hurt him.
She felt over the moon seeing Wen Tingyu today.
‘This means that the two still have feelings for each other and haven’t broken up, right?’
Her son was so outstanding, yet she felt like a burden to him. She feared that her own issues might affect his happiness.
“Auntie, don’t worry; we’re still together,” Wen Tingyu replied earnestly, almost like she was making a promise. “We won’t break up now, and we’ll always be together in the future!”
“That’s great to hear… You need to take good care of Luobai. He’s a wonderful kid. If I hadn’t held him back, he’d be even more amazing than he is now.” Qiu Huiyi might not have had the best education, but her compliments were genuine.

Wen Tingyu noticed that Qiu Huiyi was under a lot of stress, and it all seemed to revolve around Shen Luobai. The bond between a mother and son was strong, filled with love and care. Wen Tingyu later shared this with Shen Luobai and learned more about Qiu Huiyi from him.
Qiu Huiyi was initially expected to get better after being hospitalized, but things took a turn for the worse. When she had a breakdown, she could manage it, but it was happening more often now. So she had to take more medication now.
After thinking it over, Wen Tingyu finally decided to share her thoughts. She asked Shen Luobai, “Have you considered sending Auntie back to her hometown?”
Shen Luobai shook his head, saying, “I wouldn’t be able to care for her properly if I did that.” He could still make money here to cover Qiu Huiyi’s medical bills, but going back without a job would leave him in a tough spot regarding her health.
Wen Tingyu took hold of his arm and asked, “Do you remember why I said goodbye to you six months ago?”
Shen Luobai: “…”
“I realized that even though I was there for you, you were under so much pressure. You worried about letting me down while trying to handle everything in your life. I told you not to stress about me, but you still didn’t want me to struggle, right?”
Shen Luobai couldn’t argue with that; every word she said hit his heart hard.
“I thought that being apart would ease your burden; I could step away. But I knew it would only be a short-term fix. Once that time passed, I’d be back.” Wen Tingyu reflected on it all, feeling clear about her feelings.
She had heard Qiu Huiyi mention wanting to go back to her hometown more than a few times.
She knew Qiu Huiyi wasn’t fond of that far-off little place, but Qiu Huiyi felt that being there wouldn’t burden her son, and it might help her release some of the emotions she had bottled up inside.
“The medical care you worked so hard to arrange for Auntie might actually weigh her down.
In this world, the only thing we can’t control is the human heart.
It’s clear that both sides are willing to sacrifice for each other. One person is ready to give, while the other feels the weight of that love and struggles with the thought of letting the other down. Yet, they push aside their worries and start to feel guilty for being a burden.”
Shen Luobai absorbed all of this and began to think about the situation seriously.
He brought his mom to live with him because she was unwell, and he had been running around for her ever since, trying to show his filial piety in his own way.
‘Maybe it’s time to consider a different approach…’
Have a nice day!
