Absolutely Spoiled - Chapter 65.1

Chapter 65.1 – Tingyu x Luobai 11
There were a few more cigarette butts in the ashtray, and a light whiff of smoke still hung in the air of the well-ventilated corner.
Wen Tingyu stepped out of the room in just a sweater, and the sound of her slippers on the floor echoed in the stillness.
“Shen Luobai.”
Shen Luobai emerged from the balcony. “Why aren’t you wearing a coat?” he asked with a frown.
As he spoke, he grabbed the black coat draped over the sofa and wrapped it around her.
Wen Tingyu had a tall and great figure. But in men’s clothes, she appeared small and delicate.
She didn’t push him away; instead, she leaned into his touch and even rubbed her chin against him.
“Shen Luobai, you’re such a hypocrite,” Wen Tingyu said with a pout. ‘He isn’t wearing a coat himself, yet he is quick to cover me up.’
“I’m a man,” he replied. He wasn’t cold in the house, even without a coat.
Wen Tingyu tugged at the collar of the coat, inhaling the faint scent that clung to it. “This coat is nice; I want it.”
“I’ll take you shopping for a new one,” he offered.
“I really like this one.” She looked down, gently tracing the buttons. The round black edges were lined with a thin gold trim.
As Shen Luobai watched her quietly, his gaze deepened.
Wen Tingyu caught a whiff of smoke again and glanced at the ashtray, recalling that it had been clean when they first arrived.
“Are you smoking again? Does my presence bring you stress?” A subtle smile laced his voice, indicating that the inquiry was not entirely earnest.
Shen Luobai’s expression darkened as he replied, “You should not have deceived me.”
This seemingly off-topic response was, in fact, the underlying truth.
Wen Tingyu paused momentarily but soon grasped the meaning of the man’s words.
Maintaining her composure, she casually spread her sleeves and remarked, “You seem worried… I will purchase some medicine tomorrow; there is still time.”
“Absolutely not!” Shen Luobai quickly countered, as his frown deepened. “Do not take medicine lightly, do you understand?” He reiterated, adding a reminder, “That medication is harmful; it can damage your health.”
Wen Tingyu bit her lip. “What if…”
Without hesitation, Shen Luobai responded, “I will take responsibility.”
Wen Tingyu lowered her gaze and gently countered, “But that was not part of your plan.”
He replied, “Anything concerning you can be integrated into my plan.”
He acknowledged that he had not considered having children, not due to a lack of desire, but because he believed he currently lacked the financial means.
If the woman he cherished were to bear him a child, he would embrace that new life with all the resources he could muster!
Wen Tingyu lowered her head, grasped his arm, and chuckled softly.
Indeed, how could she not adore such an “easily influenced” man?
*****
Carol recently fell in love with a man who exuded indifference. While he engaged with clients during work hours, he rarely spoke outside of professional obligations.
He had negative relationships with colleagues, yet he maintained his dignity and self-respect without resorting to flattery.
He was neither humble nor arrogant, and everyone recognised his strength.
Carol was the big boss’s daughter, and everyone here knew her.
When she walked in, everyone greeted her with a cheerful, flattering tone, “Good afternoon, Ms. Carol!”
Carol had a specific reason for being there, but as she scanned the room and didn’t spot the guy she was looking for, she decided to ask directly, “Is Shen Luobai out today?”
The response she got was, “Shen Luobai has taken the day off.”
Carol was taken aback, and asked in disbelief, “He took a day off?”
Normally, this wouldn’t be a big deal for anyone else, but it was pretty unusual for Shen Luobai to ask for a day off.
Everyone at the company knew he was a workaholic.
The fact that he asked for a day off made her wonder if something had happened to him. Suddenly, she felt a strong urge to find out why he was absent. Maybe she could use this chance to help him out and change his thoughts about her.
Carol had Shen Luobai’s number saved on her phone, though it wasn’t given to her directly by him; she had gotten it through other means.
When she dialled, she hoped he would recognize her number, or at least pick up even if it wasn’t saved.
“beep–”
After a few rings, the call connected.
She thought this would be a good moment to show her concern, but to her surprise, a woman’s voice came from the other side.
“Hello.” It was Wen Tingyu.
“Sorry, wrong number,” Carol quickly said before hanging up.
With a confused mind, she reached out to one of Shen Luobai’s colleagues and double-checked the number digit by digit to make sure it was right.
‘That’s not a mistake. But why did a woman answer it?’
She dialled the number again, and this time it was Shen Luobai who answered the call.
“Shen Luobai, is that you?” Although she recognised the cold male voice, she needed to confirm who it was.
Shen Luobai couldn’t deny it.
Both his personal and work numbers were on the same phone.
“Hello, how can I help you?”
“I’m Carol.”
“Ms. Carol, what can I do for you?”
“I stopped by the office today, but your colleagues said you were on leave. I wanted to check if everything’s okay and if you need any help.”
“No, I’m good, thanks.” He declined firmly.
Have a nice day!
