Absolutely Spoiled - Chapter 66.4

Chapter 66.4 – Shi Yi’s First Life
“I heard that Master Yu and Madam Yu chose a very attractive man as the eldest miss’s future marriage. They had a pretty lovely talk.”
“I believe good things are about to happen at the mansion.”
There were many people in the mansion, and they all had various perspectives. Although it had nothing to do with them, they couldn’t help but talk in private.
The long sword was unsheathed, and it slashed through the colourful foliage on the ground.
The young man in blue glanced at the scarlet on the sword’s hilt, and his eyes filled with emotion.
A faint voice shouted out from behind, “Shi Yi!”
“Miss.” Shi Yi put down his sword and turned around, looking modest.
“Shi Yi, you don’t need to introduce yourself as a subordinate in front of me. Simply say ‘you and me’ directly.”
“That’s the rule.”
‘His words do not make sense. When I saw him during the day, he always seemed distant. But when he was alone with me those nights, he was not like he is now. He would address me and you naturally, without a defined hierarchy.’ This was not a major deal; therefore, Yu Zhiyi decided not to pursue it further.
She quickly remembered the purpose of her visit. “I was unable to come over these past two days because of something else. I wanted to ask you if the fulling sandwich I sent you the other day was delicious?”
“Very good.” Shi Yi thought of the pastry from the day before. The taste was different from what he had eaten before.
After hearing a yes, the young girl burst into laughter, saying, “As long as you enjoy it.”
Her beaming smile was so bright it made people daydream.

Yu Zhiyi turned down Mr Liang.
Her dad, Master Yu, spoilt her so he didn’t pressure her. Mr Yu and Mrs Yu went out of their way to find suitors from other families. But Yu Zhiyi said no to all of them.
Madam Yu sensed something was off, and after asking a few questions, she discovered what her daughter had been up to lately.
“The young lady has been spending a lot of time with the guard recently.”
She recognised the guard named Shi Yi from before. His looks… Madam Yu’s heart raced. After digging a little deeper, she realised something was definitely not right.
Madam Yu prevented her daughter from seeing the low-status guard again.
Yu Zhiyi was imprisoned in the courtyard for several days for minor works such as “embroidery” and “copying books”.
Her mother was constantly watching over her, and she couldn’t find an excuse to do anything else or see anyone else.
As her mother did not come today. Yu Zhiyi opened the door and looked around before picking up the lunch box and leaving. Unfortunately, she was caught by her mother after taking a few steps.
“Yiyi, where are you going?” Madam Yu knew her daughter’s thoughts well. “I’ve asked your father to arrange for him to go somewhere else so that you won’t have any more unnecessary thoughts.”
“Mom! This is not possible. He is my saviour!”
“It’s precisely because he is your saviour that your father and I didn’t just kick him out!” Madam Yu immediately set up four or five guards outside the door to avoid any unforeseen circumstances.
Naturally, Yu Zhiyi wanted to find him. But how could she, a helpless young woman, escape when the windows and doors were sealed?
“Lu Yin, can you help me, please?”
Lu Yin was in a dilemma but finally couldn’t resist Yu Zhiyi’s request and agreed to go for him.
However, as soon as she exited the yard, she was halted by people Madam Yu had prepared.
Until nightfall, Yu Zhiyi sat idly on the table.
Despite multiple changes to the food on the table, she never touched a bite. She was extremely tired in the middle of the night, but she fought not to fall asleep.
Without anyone noticing, the sealed window was opened by a burst of wind. Standing outside the gauze veil was a familiar face. Yu Zhiyi sat up immediately and pulled the bed curtain anxiously.
It was, indeed, him.
The little girl was very thoughtful and could not express some things. In the end, all she asked was, “Are you leaving?”
Shi Yi answered concisely, “I’m doing something for the master.”
“Shi Yi, can you please not leave…” She still had a lot to tell him.
“Why?”
“Because, because I…” Her red lips moved, as if she wanted to express her feelings.
The sound of the wind rustled the doors and windows, waking up the night watchman.
Shi Yi grabbed her hand and stuffed a small object into her hand before whispering, “Shh, wait until I come back.”
The young man left only one sentence and then disappeared.
Yu Zhiyi stared blankly at the object in her hand, which was a string of bells tied with a heart-shaped knot.
Bells without sound.
***
The girl at home always missed him because of what he said before leaving.
Madam Yu had stopped limiting her freedom, but she had no desire to go anywhere. During this time, Madam Yu tried to set her up with several great young men, but Yu Zhiyi always turned them down, saying, “Mom, I’m not marrying any of them.”
“Why are you being so difficult, girl?”
Shi Yi had been gone for over a month, and it felt like he had vanished from her life. If she hadn’t touched the bells under her pillow every day, she might have thought that their meeting was just a dream.
Two months later, Master Yu went out for business, and soon after, news broke that he had a close call.
Yu Zhiyi was anxious about her father until she heard someone say, “He’s fine. A guard saved him.”
“Guard…” She couldn’t bear to think about it, and then she saw that the person who saved her father was actually Shi Yi!
Mr Yu returned unharmed, but the guard who saved him had a near-death experience.
“The weapon just barely missed his heart…”
Yu Zhiyi rushed in with tears streaming down her face, disregarding her appearance.
The man was unconscious for three days and nights.
Ignoring her mother’s pleas, Yu Zhiyi stayed by his side.
Madam Yu tried to intervene, but for the first time, her usually obedient daughter stood her ground. “He saved Dad’s life, and now he’s in danger. Do you really want to keep me locked up?”
Madam Yu was displeased, but Yu Zhiyi remained where she wanted.
That evening, the pale-faced young man on the bed finally began to stir. As he opened his eyes, the sweet little girl couldn’t help but wipe her tears again.
He raised a shaky hand, frowning, and asked, “Why are you crying?”
Noticing his struggle, Yu Zhiyi took his hand and pressed her face against it, saying, “You’re finally awake.”
Shi Yi replied slowly, “The crying is too loud.”
She tried hard to hold back her tears, assuring him, “I won’t cry; I won’t disturb you.”
The doctor had used the best medicine, and Shi Yi’s health was improving; after a few days, he felt much better.
Yu Zhiyi visited him daily, and anyone could see there was something special between them.
Shi Yi was in high spirits lately. He was eager to go for a walk as he regained his strength, and Yu Zhiyi was right by his side. While passing through the courtyard, they overheard a couple of maids chatting.
“The young lady is actually taking care of the guard!”
“I can tell; she clearly has feelings for Guard Shi.”
Instead of confronting them, she blushed at their words. The implication was clear.
Shi Yi turned to her with a playful grin, teasing, “Miss, if this gets out, you might not find your dream husband.”
She instinctively clutched the bell at her waist, looked down shyly, and asked softly, “Then will you marry me? Is that okay?”
The young man smiled, “I couldn’t ask for anything more!”
The guard’s inner thoughts: He had faced countless injuries in life, but only twice had he been hurt intentionally and willingly.
