Cherish You as My Life - Chapter 24.2

Chapter 24.2
Over the week, Ashe was also well cared for, and it gained two extra pounds.
On the sofa, a person and a dog sat side by side, waiting for a certain woman to come home.
When the time came, Ji Yao knocked on the door of the beautiful female neighbour opposite of his house.
Han Xi opened the door and asked, “Is something wrong?”
“We haven’t seen each other for a few days. Am I not your good baby?” Ji Yao asked, lifting the corners of his lips.
Han Xi thought of the night a week ago when she worked overtime and how Ji Yao waited in the forensic department for her to get off work. In the office, their eyes collided, and she felt that her feelings for him differed.
She knew she couldn’t let this man enter her life, so she wanted to minimise her interaction with him.
When Han Xi was about to close the door without saying a word, Ji Yao stretched out a foot to prevent it. “Okay! Then why do you want to divorce me? I am no better than that vixen,” he asked with a pout.
Han Xi: “…”
Seeing the childish side of this grown-up man, Han Xi wanted to laugh. But there was so much sadness in her heart that she didn’t know how to laugh carefreely. ‘This man has this ability to make people want to cry and laugh at the same time. I don’t know what to do with him.’
Ji Yao leaned against the door frame and said seriously, “My injury has nothing to do with you. You don’t have to take everything on yourself like this. Jingjing has already found out. The person behind the attack is a gangster I caught three years ago. He wanted to take revenge after he was released from prison.”
Han Xi looked up at the man and asked with doubt, “Is it true?”
Ji Yao knew very well that it was not true. He just curled his lips and said seriously, “Yeah.”
She looked at him suspiciously, took out her mobile phone, and called Zhao Jingjing.
Zhao Jingjing said exactly what Ji Yao said.
After the call ended, Ji Yao raised his arm and said, “Can you rub it? I feel a little itchy.”
Han Xi said, “That is because the wound is healing.” After saying that, she turned around and went into the bedroom. She took out a bottle of medicine and said, “After removing the plaster, apply it to remove scars.”
Ji Yao took it with a wink. “I know you love me the most.”
Han Xi closed the door without giving the man a chance to enter the house.
Ji Yao, with a broken heart, lowered his head and saw there was a message from the upright Deputy Zhao.
[Next time, don’t ask me to lie.]
Zhao Jingjing was not good at lying. He always felt uneasy as there was a throne stuck in his throat when he lied.

Because he was feeling uneasy about lying to Han Xi, Zhao Jingjing took two boxes of peaches to work and took one to the forensic room.
Zhou Li followed behind him and rushed to the forensic room, eating peaches while chatting with Zhu Han.
The two were chatting about Jiang Wei, a recently popular female model.
“Look at this figure; even a woman like me wants to knock her down,” Zhou Li said, turning on her cell phone and clicking on a picture. “It said no man can refuse her beauty.”
Zhu Han clicked her tongue and touched her thin ponytail. “I am particularly envious of her hair. The volume and quality of her hair seem simply amazing.”
Zhou Li pulled her phone, went to Han Xi’s side, and clicked on a picture. “I heard that she had undergone plastic surgery. Doctor Han, can you tell which parts of her face have been touched by the knife?”
Han Xi never cared about these celebrities in the entertainment industry. Hearing Zhou Li’s words, she took a look. “On the surface, it doesn’t look like a knife was used. After the autopsy, we can know the truth.”
Zhou Li was delighted by Han Xi’s reply. “It’s so interesting what you forensic doctors are talking about.”
Han Xi took another look and felt that this Jiang Wei looked a little familiar. She seemed to have seen her somewhere. Han Xi didn’t know why, but Jiang Wei gave Han Xi an uncomfortable feeling.
Zhou Li and Zhao Jingjing got a call from the office, so they left the forensic room.
Zhou Li was surprised to see Ji Yao in the office. “Captain Ji, aren’t you recuperating from your injuries? Why did you come to work so soon?
“Why, I’m not welcome?” Ji Yao asked, looking up at her.
“How can I do that?” Zhou Li asked, offering the peach she had taken from the forensic room with both hands.
Ji Yao took it and squeezed it. “Too soft; I like to eat a hard one, which is crispy.”
Zhou Li: “This is what the forensic doctor gave me.”
Ji Yao: “Well, the soft one is delicious. It’s full of water, and it moistens the throat and quenches the thirst.”
Everyone had a great deal of respect for Captain Ji. He even altered his likes, his ego, and his character for the sake of love.
Zhao Jingjing approached Ji Yao’s desk and started summarising the previous week’s work. “As of right now, Liu Qiangshan, the murderer of Qiao Jiang, has not been found. The Xinqiao County Branch once stated that he was spotted in the county’s suburbs during this time. Since then, there has been no update.”
Ji Yao: “Hm…”
“A team has been dispatched to inspect Qiao’s mother’s home. Speaking of which, the mountain where Qiao Zhen was pushed down by Zhang Zhixin is connected to a cliff. It is not too high, but if you fall, you will die or be injured. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. Director Cai and Director Ye were very satisfied with your and Doctor Han’s photoshoot. They said they will let you team up to shoot a video at the end of the year.”
Zhou Li turned around and said with a smile, “You two will hold up a small red banner that says Happy New Year. Director Ye has already thought out the lines for you. ‘ The City Public Security Bureau reminds the general public to pay attention to safety, prevent fire and theft, and wish everyone a happy new year and all the best.'”
Zhou Li’s words created images in Ji Yao’s mind. ‘When the time comes, I will call Ji’s camera team to shoot a fashionable love movie.’
Ji Yao’s phone started to ring at this moment. Seeing the unknown number, he answered the phone with a frown.
“Brother Yao, I’m Yaobin.”
Ji Yao smiled and asked, “When did you come back?”
Tang Yaobin: “I just arrived last night. I’m going out to play tomorrow. I haven’t seen you for several years, including Dongzi and the others.”
When Ji Yao was young, he played with some other rich kids. But after getting kidnapped and rescued, he often hung out with Officer Chen. He even stayed at the City Bureau to do homework after school, so he didn’t play with those guys anymore.
