I Gave Birth to a Cub without Telling the Head Assistant - Chapter 21.1

Chapter 21.1
Four o’clock in the afternoon.
Outside Xinghui Pavilion.
Yun Jin stood on the last stone step in front of the entrance with a frown on his face.
He stood in front of Ruan Longling, blocking her path like a guardian statue. “Miss Ruan, my master has explicitly instructed us not to let you disturb us!” he said sternly.
But if she were obedient, she wouldn’t be the bold and determined woman she was.
Mr. Ge would only stay in Yangzhou for thirty days, and eight days had already passed! But she and Li Zhulin had made no progress. If she didn’t come up with a solution soon, this perfect candidate would slip away in just twenty-two days!
“Brother Yun Jin, do you really think I’m here to cause trouble?” Ruan Longling asked innocently. “It’s because Chengfeng forgot his books when he came to Xinghui Pavilion, so I’m just bringing them for him.” She patted the book in her hand and gave a perfectly valid reason.
Then she placed a hand over her heart, making her eyes appear moist as she showed a deep sense of worry and hurt. “I went through great effort to persuade Prince Wang to find time to tutor my younger brother. And naturally, I want everything to go perfectly… You must understand that to do any job well, one must have the right tools. How can Chengfeng learn without his books?”
Her acting skills made even Yun Jin feel uneasy.
‘Yes, although the Chief Assistant had not agreed to take Ruan Chengfeng as a disciple, it was still an incredible opportunity for an ordinary person to receive personal guidance from the young master twice a day.’ Yun Jin thought for a while and said, “Then… Miss Ruan, you give me the book, and I will deliver it for you.”
Ruan Longling: “? ? ?” ’No. It’s not just about delivering books. The important thing is that I must take the opportunity to meet Wang Chulin!’
Ruan Longling flatly refused Yun Jin’s help and tightly covered the book in her hand. “No way!” She smiled softly as she continued speaking, “I know you have good intentions, Brother Yun Jin. But Chengfeng is extremely stubborn and never lets anyone touch his things, especially something as important as a book! Can’t you just let me go?”
After saying that, Ruan Longling raised her legs and walked up the stone steps with her head raised.
Yun Jin wouldn’t back down and reached out to stop her.
The two were at a standstill…
“That’s enough! I’ll take her in. If there are any consequences, I will take full responsibility,” a voice suddenly intervened.
The two turned to see Yu Zeqi standing behind them, waving a paper fan with a smile on his face.
He was the legitimate son of the Yu family in Longxi, so Yun Jin couldn’t help but feel intimidated. After weighing his options, he stepped aside to allow Yu Zeqi to pass.
“What a crucial moment! Yu Zeqi is still reliable!’Ruan Longling let out a sigh. ‘When my child is born, I’ll give Yu Zeqi a big red envelope!’
With that, Yu Zeqi escorted Ruan Longling into Qizhenyuan, where she hadn’t been in a long time.
She happily walked up the steps by his side, and her cheerful mood caused the corners of Yu Zeqi’s mouth to turn upward.
Honestly speaking, he was quite pleased with himself.
Upon hearing that the Chief Assistant was willing to teach Ruan Chengfeng, Yu Zeqi was surprised. In his mind, Li Zhulin was not the type to meddle in other people’s affairs.
Curious about how that happened, Yu Zeqi turned to the woman next to him and asked with a smile, “How did you manage to get that giant Buddha moved?”
“Brother Yu, you want to know? In fact, it doesn’t hurt to tell you.” Ruan Longling turned her head and showed a mysterious smile. “The young master is afraid of persistent girls!”
Yu Zeqi chuckled at this absurd statement, but Ruan Longling continued with seriousness in her voice, “Just pester him! Keep pestering him until he has no choice but to agree!”
She told the truth.
However, Yu Zeqi didn’t take it seriously. He thought she was telling some weird joke again and shook his head helplessly. “Is it possible that he fell into the trap because you pestered him? I’m sure Mr. Ge played a big role in convincing him,” he remarked.
Ruan Longling simply smiled and didn’t elaborate further.
As they walked through the green courtyard and passed by the cloister, they could hear a man’s calm voice drifting down the hallway.
Following the sound, Ruan Longling looked up and saw a man dressed in a sky-blue robe pacing behind a desk with a book in hand. He was usually quite stern and unapproachable, but now he seemed more relaxed, perhaps due to the scholarly atmosphere surrounding him.
His handsome face and graceful demeanour made it hard for Ruan Longling to look away. Even his tone of voice had softened while reviewing an article written by Ruan Chengfeng.
The man was a student of Mr. Ge, and because of that, Ruan Longling knew that the man she chose was a highly talented person, but she didn’t think he was that intelligent.
His ability to identify flaws in their arguments and provide thorough explanations is truly impressive. He effortlessly delves into various topics such as public opinion, local customs, court affairs, history, and social development with depth and insight. Ruan Longling couldn’t help but admire him even more. ’ Extraordinary appearance and great talent!
He is indeed the man I like!
I really found a treasure.’
Have a nice day!
