I Gave Birth to a Cub without Telling the Head Assistant - Chapter 22.2

Chapter 22.2
The following day.
A horse carriage slowly rolled out of Tianxia Tower at three quarters past three in the morning, heading southeast of Yangzhou to Xiangguo Temple.
The man seated inside the carriage seemed to be a little confused.
Li Zhulin actually found it a bit ridiculous. ‘How could a businesswoman dance on my head?’
The purpose of this trip was to clear his mind.
‘But why should I go away as a defeated general who flees from the battlefield and abandons his weapons and armour?’
Li Zhulin’s mind was in a dilemma.
‘No problem. After three days of meditation, I will be able to handle it with ease.’
He didn’t know how far the carriage was going, but suddenly he heard a “whoosh” sound from outside, and the speeding carriage stopped suddenly, causing the man’s body to tilt slightly forward.
The horse raised its front hooves high, snored angrily, and its iron hooves touched the ground with a “thug.” No matter how the driver tried, it didn’t take a step forward.
The carriage window curtains were blown by the wind.
An endless marsh came into sight.
A gust of wind blew past, and the grass in the marsh tilted slightly backwards, revealing ferocious faces in armour.
There was also the sound of blades colliding, metal and stone touching, and the sound of orderly and hurried footsteps approaching…
The murderous intent was revealed!
Aware of what was happening, Yun Feng mounted his horse and rode to the window, whispering to the man inside the carriage, “My Lord, there are about two hundred people hiding in the reed marsh.”
****
Tianxia Tower
The soup-filled food box that was sent early in the morning was brought back.
“Boss, Master Wang departed early in the morning for Wuxiang Temple, and it appears that he won’t be returning for three days, based on the report from the Xinghui Pavilion servant.”
‘What? Is there anyone in the world who travels to Wuxiang Temple to adore Buddha and disregards Lord Zhou’s lecture? Could it be that Wang Chulin had noticed my intention and is deliberately avoiding me? No!’
Now that they’ve finally made some progress, she ought to take advantage of the chance to apprehend him quickly! ‘I can’t let him go easily. If not, the flowers can get cold by the time he returns in three days! Since he’s running away, I’ll go after him! Wang Chulin will definitely not be able to escape even if he has wings!’
“Come here! Prepare the horses and the carriage! Pack your luggage!”
‘Based on the calculation of time, he has not been out for long. If I ride faster, I will definitely be able to catch up!’
In just three incense sticks of time, Ruan Longling was ready and sat in the carriage, leaving the city.
The road from Yangzhou City to Xiangguo Temple was wide and broad. There would never be traffic on this route, not even during the New Year’s festivities, regardless of the number of pilgrims.
However, an odd event occurred today. A wooden barrier appeared in front of the carriage after it had been travelling quickly southeast for over thirty minutes.
A huge wooden stake was stuck in the middle of the road, with sharp wooden spikes protruding outward. Officers equipped with swords were guarding both sides of the road, checking every vehicle one by one.
There seemed to be seven or eight carriages lined up…
With trepidation, Ruan Longling pulled back the curtain in front of the window, craned her neck to gaze forward, and mumbled to herself, “Don’t go too far, Brother Chulin. Please wait for me.”
From the right side window, a silver-white figure fell in and crashed right into the carriage.
“Ah!” Ruan Longling cried out softly and kept stepping back because she was so terrified that her face went pale.
The man immediately stepped forward and covered her mouth tightly with his palm.
Upon closer inspection, Ruan Longling identified the figure. He was the man who she was pursuing relentlessly to become her son’s father.
“Blood!”
The corners and sleeves of Wang Chulin’s clothes were covered in blood.
The silver-white cloth was stained with a dark-red liquid. His hair was a little unruly, and there were signs of scratches from knives and swords on his collar. He was tightly grasping a long sword, and a murderous aura emanated from his body.
With severe eyes, he gave her a wary, cautious signal that said, “Don’t make a sound.”
An ordinary girl would be frightened to the point of fainting by the scene before her, but Ruan Longling was not an ordinary woman who had not experienced the ups and downs of life. She had even been robbed before by bandits when she travelled all over the country to transport goods.
Thus, she realised almost instantly that the officials’ barriers outside might be meant for capturing Wang Chulin.
But she was 100% sure that Wang Chulin was a good person.
He was also the father of the child she had chosen among thousands of choices.
No matter why the people outside wanted to arrest him and be half of her unborn son, she must help him!
Ruan Longling regained her composure swiftly, gave him a steady glance, and reached out to grab his blood-stained, chilly palm. She said softly, as though to ease all the tension, “Brother Chulin, I’m here; don’t be afraid.”
The man’s eyes twitched, his pupils contracted quickly, and the murderous aura that surrounded his body quickly vanished.
Ruan Longling took off her pink cloak and covered the man’s eye-catching silver-white clothes that were stained with blood. Then she pried open his fingertips, took out the sharp sword, and kicked it behind the horizontal seat on the back seat of the carriage.
She did it all quickly.
At this time, the footsteps of the officers inspecting the vehicle were getting closer and closer…
The heart of Ruan Longling pounded like a drum. She just decided to drag Wang Chulin over to sit on the main seat of the carriage out of panic. She then sat on his legs, face to face.
While he let her do as she pleased, the man’s eyes brightened and deepened, and he asked, “Miss. Longling, do you know clearly what you are doing at this moment?”
Ruan Longling removed her thin outer blouse to display her delicate, cream-coloured shoulders and part of her snow-white back. She gathered her thick hair that fell behind her like a torrent of seaweed in front of her body. She did not blink as she met his eyes. “Obviously, I know…”
She leaned closer, whispered in his ear, and said in a seductive and soft voice, “Brother Chulin, I am seducing you.”
