Ruan Longling felt her lips turn cool, her pupils dilated a little, and the hot tea slid down her throat.

‘He actually kissed me!’

As the warm tea slid down her throat, Ruan Longling came to her senses, and she realized what had happened. She could not believe the cold-hearted man would do something like that.

Logically speaking, after helping her drink tea, the man should leave, right?

No, instead he took advantage of the situation and began to chase the woman’s tongue.

This kiss was different from the overbearing one in the carriage; it was deeper and longer, filled with curiosity, exploring every part of her. 

When Ruan Longling thought it was ending, the man would seek more. Their breaths mingled, and she found herself gasping softly, unable to hold back. 

He only pulled away after savouring the moment fully, then leaned in to whisper in her flushed ear, “Have you satisfied your thirst? If not, I can assist you again.” 

‘How can he be called a gentleman?! He is clearly a beast in disguise!’ 

Finally, she caught her breath, feeling dazed and captivated by the kiss. Her body was on fire, and she felt weak all over. 

She had only wanted to confirm Wang Chulin’s feelings with this kiss. Who would have thought that such a simple act could be so thrilling? She felt overwhelmed! 

“No… no need… Thank you very much, Brother Chulin…” 

It was she who sparked the fire first, yet she was the first to feel scared once it blazed. 

Li Zhulin let out a soft chuckle. Seeing her feather-like eyelashes trembling slightly, he felt something strange in his heart.

‘Are all romantic matters between men and women so interesting?

Or is it that this cunning and sly businesswoman in front of me is particularly different?’

“You’re welcome. The grace of saving my life should be repaid with gratitude,” the man said as he leaned over towards the woman.

Li Zhulin was feeling pretty good. He couldn’t resist reaching out to gently wipe the moisture from the corner of the woman’s mouth. With a playful smirk, he leaned in and said softly, “If Madam LLongling needs anything else, I’m here to help.” 

‘Wait, what? 

Any other needs? 

What else could I possibly want? 

What kind of needs are you talking about?

What a bold man to say something like that in this situation!’

She could feel the man’s thoughts, but she never thought he would say it aloud.

‘It’s really strange how a kiss could change a relationship between a man and a woman in an instant.’

When she first met him, she thought he was just a typical bookworm, lost in his studies and oblivious to the world, not caring about fame or fortune. But the more time they spent together, she started to see a different side of him.

‘Wang Chulin doesn’t seem to be someone who is easy to control.’

Ruan Longling’s eyes widened in slight surprise at the unexpected shift in the man’s demeanor. She quietly extended her fingertips and timidly adjusted the thin blanket draped over her body. 

Li Zhulin observed her reaction, and a hint of a smile appeared in his eyes. 

“You should rest well for now. I will review the homework assigned by the teacher and return to have dinner with you this evening.” 

“Alright, Longling will wait for Brother Chulin.” Ruan Longling replied softly and shyly.

It was only when the sound of Li Zhulin’s footsteps faded that Ruan Longling felt a wave of exhilaration surge from deep within her heart! 

‘It is done! It’s done!’

 Her strategy of prioritising her son over her father had largely succeeded! 

‘The wisdom of the ancients has proven true! 

My determination and tenacity have finally borne fruit! 

Regardless of whether Wang Chulin genuinely loves me or is merely attracted to my beauty, he no longer rebuffs me and is even inclined to initiate physical contact! 

Just moments ago, he appeared as if he wanted to swallow me entirely…’

Ruan Longling was confident that had she not been mindful of her injury, they might have already come together! 

‘Just wait a couple more days! 

Three days at most!
