Mrs. Mei's Survival Diary - Chapter 11.2
Chapter 11.2
The full moon was shining in the starry sky.
After Rong Yinshuang waited for Daer and Moer to fall asleep, she hid the peach wood sword in her sleeve, hung the copper gourd around her waist, and then extinguished all the candles and locked the gate of the Taoist Temple before going to the house she found today.
Uncle Bao had already been guarding the back door of that house for a long time, holding a lantern and looking around.
Seeing Rong Yinshuang, Uncle Bao was relieved, greeted her hurriedly, and said, “Madam, if you want to see the house, you can pick the day; why bother at night?”
Rong Yinshuang smiled at Uncle Bao. “If you trust me, I’ll go in and take a look at it myself.”
Uncle Bao was a little hesitant. “This… It’s not okay. It’s not that I don’t trust you, Madame, but it’s really strange inside, and I once went in at night and heard that miserable cry with my own ears, which was very scary.”
Rong Yinshuang took Uncle Bao’s lantern and insisted. “It’s okay; I haven’t done anything wrong; even if there is something sinister, it won’t do anything to me.”
Uncle Bao couldn’t resist her, so he had to listen to her orders, and after Rong Yinshuang entered the door, he said to her uneasily, “If something happens, Madam, you shout, I will come immediately.”
Rong Yinshuang found it funny that Uncle Bao looked scared and serious. She nodded and waved to Uncle Bao, who then closed the door to make sure no one saw it open and thought it was weird.
The courtyard looked deserted and dark in the moonlight, and the lantern also didn’t help much.
She looked around to examine the courtyard; she thought it looked very nice. The rockery pavilions were made of good materials, and the garden was full of blooming flowers.
Rong Yinshuang took a few steps and suddenly felt a strong wind around her. She heard the sound of moving sand and rocks and saw two big stones coming towards her fast. She was scared and couldn’t move, but then a protective barrier came out of her body, stopping the stones from hitting her, and the stones fell to the ground.
After the heavy stones hit the ground, she heard a sad crying sound near her. It sounded angry and full of sadness.
Somehow, Rong Yinshuang gathered her courage and kept working forward until she reached the entrance of the house and then opened the door.
She walked in and heard the door slam shut. With the help of the lantern, she saw that there were a few tables and chairs inside, but before she could finish looking, the lantern blew off and the hall went dark.
Rong Yinshuang felt her heart beating fast, and a cold wind blew behind her. But then, the copper gourd around her waist started glowing and protecting her. She turned around and saw a scary face floating towards her as if it were going to attack her.
Looking at the close-up picture of the face with seven bleeding holes was really shocking.
Rong Yinshuang touched the copper gourd on her waist without thinking and took the courage to ask a question. “Are you called Qiu Rong?”
The ghost was surprised when Rong Yinshuang suddenly spoke to her. She was stunned, and she slowly stopped her attack. It stood at the door and spoke with a soft, ghostly voice.
“Who are you? Did the bad lady send you to take me away?”
Rong Yinshuang moved closer to the ghost and said, “I am Rong Yinshuang, the first Madam of the Mei family. Do you recognise me?”
Qiu Rong looked at Rong Yinshuang’s face with eyes that were bleeding for a while, and she finally lowered her eyes, showing that she recognised Rong Yinshuang.
“The eldest master has also passed away, and Zhao Qian and Mei Yuangui forced me to leave Mei Mansion. By the way, I can see dead people. Is there something bothering you in this house?”
When Qiu Rong heard those words, she seemed to be mad again, so Rong Yinshuang quickly spoke up. “You relax. If you have a problem, let me know, and I will make things fair for you.”
Qiu Rong looked at Rong Yinshuang. “Justice. How can you make things right? My parents and children have all passed away, leaving me alone here. “I really, really don’t like this.”
Rong Yinshuang sighed and asked, “Do you have so much anger because of them?”
“I used to work for Zhao Qian as a dowry maid. I never thought the second master would force himself on me. I didn’t want to fight with the main wife for a favour; I just wanted a place to live. But Zhao Qian was cruel. When she found out I was pregnant, she made someone feed me poison. I suffered a lot of pain and saw her beat my parents to death. I hate her. I hate her. I want to become a ghost and haunt her forever.” Qiu Rong’s voice echoed in the hall.
Rong Yinshuang didn’t know if others could hear it, but she did, and it hurt her ears, so she couldn’t help but cover them. “She has a lucky charm. You can’t go near her, can you?”
Rong Yinshuang remembered seeing Qiu Rong trying to harm Zhao Qian earlier but couldn’t do it, and thought that there might be something protective on Zhao Qian’s body.
Qiu Rong didn’t say anything for a while, then she said, “Sure. The old jade at her waist is special and has been opened by the Famen Temple leader. I can’t go near it.”
Rong Yinshuang asked again, “Do you want to kill her if you can get close to her?”
Qiu Rong said in a faint voice, “If only I could kill her… No… I don’t want to kill her; I just want her to taste the despair I have felt.”
Rong Yinshuang pondered for a moment before looking up and saying to Qiu
Rong, “I’ll help you remove that ancient jade. Do you have any other wishes?”
Qiu Rong instantly moved to Rong Yinshuang, knowing that she didn’t seem to be lying. After thinking about it with ghostly eyes, she raised her black nails and pointed outward. The door suddenly opened, and the direction of her finger happened to be a towering old locust in the yard. “My family and I were buried under the old locust tree.”
Rong Yinshuang looked at it and asked, “I’ll help you bury the bodies on the outskirts of the city, okay?”
After Qiu Rong miserably glanced at Rong Yinshuang again, she suddenly disappeared.
Rong Yinshuang picked up the extinguished lantern and walked out of the hall. Her eyes fell on the towering old locust tree, thinking about the miserable situation under the tree, and she felt sad.
In fact, she had not seen the main wife killing the concubine, but she had heard it before. However, she never thought that one day there would be such close contact.
Sighing and facing the night breeze, Rong Yinshuang walked towards the gate.
