Mrs. Mei's Survival Diary - Chapter 9
Chapter 9: Evil Has Evil Retribution
The ghost girl started to stop her attack and started to cry her heart out. “Grandma doesn’t want me, and my mother doesn’t want me. And now my daddy doesn’t want me, right? When Daddy has a brother, he doesn’t want me anymore.”
Hearing such words, Rong Yinshuang was heartbroken. She sighed and asked in a kind voice, “Little girl, do you like your daddy?”
The ghost girl nodded repeatedly while muttering, “Yes, Daddy doesn’t hit me; Daddy doesn’t hurt me.”
“That’s why the girl doesn’t hurt her father, right?” Rong Yinshuang spoke to the ghost girl in a very gentle tone, not treating her as a ghost at all but talking like a real child.
The ghost girl nodded.
“Don’t hurt your brother, please. You’ve already broken your grandmother’s leg and nearly drowned your mother, right? Look at your little brother. He didn’t hit you, did he? He is also your father’s child. So you should have to take care of your brother, right?” Rong Yinshuang continued.
After becoming somewhat confused, the ghost girl nodded to Rong Yinshuang and stated, “Yes, I should not bully my younger brother. But the well is so cold. So cold…” As the little ghost girl spoke, she lowered her head and vanished into the wall, and the gloomy atmosphere disappeared after that.
The baby was finally dozing off after being awake for so many days, and Rong Yinshuang sighed softly and realised that the most terrifying thing was human hearts, not ghosts.
Who would have thought that these ignorant people would do this to their own flesh and blood?
As Rong Yinshuang understood the situation of Jin’s family clearly, she went out and saw Jin Rong standing outside the gate. When she walked out of the gate, Jin Rong asked her anxiously, “Did he sleep?”
“Yes, he is sleeping. Maybe he was very tired from crying for so long, and when I coaxed him for a while, he fell asleep. You go and boil some rice cereal later, and when he wakes up, feed him carefully and take him to pee after eating. Then he will sleep until tomorrow morning.”
After receiving numerous thanks from Jin Rong for helping him with this child, Rong Yinshuang paused before responding, “By the way, I saw that the cradle where the baby sleeps seems to be some years old; how come there are still big children at home?”
Jin Rong was full of gratitude to Rong Yinshuang at the moment and naturally said everything. “Yes, I also have a six-year-old daughter, but unfortunately she was lost a year ago and has not been found. I don’t know what kind of life she was living, and thinking of her, my heart hurts a lot.”
Rong Yinshuang saw his sincere expression and knew that he would not tell lies. “A six-year-old should remember the way home. Have you personally looked for her at home? Maybe something has happened to her, and your family didn’t tell you.”
Jin Rong thought for a while, then suddenly froze, and then his face became more and more ugly. He hurriedly rushed into the yard and even forgot to close the gate.
It didn’t take long for Rong Yinshuang to hear Jin Rong’s violent roar and the screaming voice of an old woman.
Only then did she sighed, shook her head, walked out of Huanxi Alley, called Da’er and Mo’er, and returned to the Taoist Temple.
………………………….
Early the next morning, Rong Yinshuang went to the street to buy vegetables and saw people running on the street. She mixed in the crowd, followed all the way to Xuanyuan Alley, and saw Jin Rong, who seemed to have turned ten years older than his actual age overnight, walked out of the gate of the small courtyard with a body that had long been rotten. He then began to cry hoarsely as he scattered with his little daughter’s rotten body on the ground outside the gate.
Rong Yinshuang looked at him through the crowd. The girl was kneeling next to her father, gazing at him with such sadness and discomfort, but the ghost was unable to shed any tears, so she was forced to watch from the sidelines.
After the little girl was killed, Jin Rong’s family urged him to buy a house in Huanxi Lane, and the family moved over. Strange things didn’t happen until the little girl’s brother was born, and after seeing her Grandma and her mother loving the new-born baby boy, the little ghost girl suddenly broke out. And the result was that her grandmother and her mother were almost killed by the little ghost girl.
After Jin Rong found his daughter’s body, he personally sued his mother and wife in court for murdering his daughter. There was evidence, and the two women were also scared, so both of them confessed about their crimes.
Both women couldn’t escape from the punishment, even though one had broken her leg and the other had woken up from a coma. Jin Rong’s wife also tried to use her newborn son as an excuse to intercede, wanting the official to sentence her less, but Jin Rong wrote her a letter of divorce in court, so that the relationship between the vicious woman and her son was cut off.
Both the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were convicted of homicide and sentenced to beheading.
The murderous mother-in-law and daughter-in-law were criticised by everyone in the capital, and some thought the girl who was killed by them was pitiful. Someone took the lead to burn incense at the entrance of the alley and chant Buddha scriptures for several days to comfort the soul of the pitiful child.
………………………….
Rong Yinshuang embroidered while her two sons were asleep at night. After more than ten days of hard effort she had already embroidered eight fabric designs; the items would only be ready for delivery once all the patterns had been stitched and wrapped with lace.
As soon as she put on a silk thread against the light, she felt that the aura above the Taoist Temple fluctuated again, flashing the gold wire ripples that could not be seen in normal days, and remembered that when this ripple appeared last time, it was the old woman who came to find her.
Rong Yinshuang held the candle flame and opened the door. When she saw the small figure standing on the ground and staring up at her, she realised she couldn’t enter. So she went outside by herself and questioned “You came to see me, but is there a problem?”
The little girl nodded and said, “Thank you for telling my father that I am in the well, and now the girl is not cold and is leaving.”
Rong Yinshuang looked at this resentful child, and her mood became a little complicated.
There wasn’t much she could do for her, so Rong Yinshuang took the mahogany wood sword, reached out and gently touched her transparent face, and then recited the sword technique and did the last thing for her.
The golden light emanated from the girl’s body, and her soul gradually flew upward, waving at her as she flew and unfolding a joyful smile that no longer belonged to this world, and after a moment, she disappeared into the sky.
Rong Yinshuang picked up the six copper coins left by the little girl.
This was the copper money that emerged when the money sword surpassed the soul, and the person who was exceeded had a lot to do with the person himself. This copper money was similar to your age in this world.
Rong Yinshuang took one last look at the moon and starry sky before returning to the temple. Then she took out a small box from the small, square table. There were several small cloth bags inside the book. She had embroidered the name of the old woman on one. Then she took another bag and embroidered the little girl’s name there, and she put the six copper coins left by her in the bag. Those were the last evidence of their stay in the world, and she would not use them until she had a last resort.
Picking up an empty bag with the name of Wu Daozi written on it, thinking that the gold nuggets left by Wu Daozi were still in the pawnshop, Rong Yinshuang felt uneasy, and after putting the box away, she sat back under the candle fire and continued to work on embroidery.
She was now in this mood, secretly hating herself. ‘Why didn’t I grow up so much before? Xianggong is a money-making expert, why didn’t I learn from him how to make money when he was alive?’
[T/L: Xianggong is the nickname of Rong Yinshuang’s husband.]
………………………
As long as Rong Yinshuang had free time, she sat there embroidering, and after another two or three days, she could finish the ten pieces. She took Da’er and Mo’er to the silk village again and handed over the work to the female shop owner.
The shop owner examined them before she took the abacus to calculate the money.
She then gave Rong Yinshuangthe the money she promised before. She then showed a pattern on a piece of paper and said, “These patterns are not hard to embroider. When drawing patterns, you should pay attention to the composition. If the composition is not suitable, then the embroidered things are not good-looking.”
Rong Yinshuang looked at the picture again, and if the composition was difficult, she would draw it on the paper several times in advance, and after getting familiar with it, she could begin to embroider it well. She nodded immediately. “Yes, I know.”
After finishing her business, Rong Yinshuang was about to leave, and then she met Zhao Qian in this place.
Zhao Qian was accompanied by the madam of the third room of the Mei mansion and a group of maids.
