Chapter 10.2

Shen Qingqing went back to her yard, and her personal maids, Yudie and Yuchan, came to help her.

Shen Qingqing saw a mark on Yudie’s head and remembered how it appeared. At Xiaoquan Temple, Yudie put a chair in front of the door to stop that villain from coming in. But the villain, Cao Xiong pushed her out of the way, and Yudie banged her forehead on the stool that bled a lot. And the scar was still here because the wound was very deep.

Shen Qingqing gave Yudie a bottle of white jade cream and said, “This cream helps remove scars. You can have it and use it. ” You can keep the white jade cream. I know how valuable it is to you.” She understood the importance of this cream, but it was given by that scoundrel, Li Zhi. Therefore, if Yudie didn’t use it, Shen Qingqing would rather get rid of the white jade frost instead of using it for herself.

Yudie didn’t know anything about it, so she casually asked if the concubine had rewarded it.

Shen Qingqing simply nodded without much interest or enthusiasm.

Yudie gladly agreed to it.

Shen Qingqing said to Yuchan, “Check if grandpa is home.” 

Li Zhi would be at home for dinner tonight. Shen Qingqing decided to have dinner with her grandparents instead of with that man.

Yuchan smiled as she left.

While Yudie went to get some water, Shen Qingqing looked out the window and then made a worried face. Li Zhi promised to give back her shoe as long as she didn’t tell her parents about the incident that happened near the river. She thought that Li Zhi was testing her today, and if she cooperated with him, then he would be happy and give back her shoe. However, until she got the shoe, she couldn’t relax.

“Miss, clean your hands.” Yudie returned with some water.

Shen Qingqing looked at her maid; her face turned red, and she said awkwardly, “Yudie, give me that medicine first. I have something to use.”

Yudie didn’t really think about it, smiled, took out the fancy bottle, and gave it back to Shen Qingqing. “Why are you turning red, girl? There’s no one else here.”

Shen Qingqing felt frustrated because she realised she was still acting too quickly and impulsively. She touched her nose, feeling annoyed. Luckily, it was Yudie. If it were another person, she would have lent something and then asked for it back immediately. How ugly could it be? 

Shen Qingqing washed her hands and then went to the inner room by herself for a little bit. After that, she went to the front yard alone.

Shen Tingwen, Chen Shi, and Shen Su were having fun with Li Zhi. Butler Wu was standing in the yard, waiting. Shen Qingqing looked back from the hallway and signalled Butler Wu to come, but he didn’t move, so Shen Qingqing quietly stood on her toes to listen to the conversation inside the corridor.

“The Marquis is good-looking, kind, and polite, like a smart person. I don’t believe you can be a leader in a war.” Chen Shi was saying good things about Li Zhi. 

Li Zhi said, “Third Madam, you have praised me. The generals were the ones who got all the credit in the past. I helped a little bit. 

“Now that the Marquis is in a high position, he can be neither arrogant nor extravagant. It is really admirable.” Shen Tingwen continued to praise.

Li Zhi felt embarrassed and said, “Please don’t compliment me too much.”

His voice was easy to listen to, and he used a few words to describe a humble and good minister, Shen Qingqing listened carefully. ‘Hmph, it tasted like I had eaten a lot of fatty food. Li Zhi got what he wanted because of his sister. He is mean and arrogant. But he wanted to be famous even though he kept pretending to be someone he’s not.’

Shen Qingqing could not listen anymore, and she secretly signalled to Butler Wu with a wink.

Butler Wu turned to the corner of the hallway and called out loudly, “Miss Seven.”

Shen Qingqing smiled at him and then walked slowly to the hall door after waiting for a while.

Everyone inside had already glanced around. When Li Zhi saw Shen Qingqing, he stood up. He followed the rules of good manners. He abided by etiquette; how could he look like a merchant prince who was awarded a title for his military merits?

Seeing that, Shen Tingwen and his wife were very surprised.

Even Shen Qingqing was very surprised.

Li Zhi looked at the white jade frost in her hand and felt uneasy. “The seventh miss looks ugly. Is there something wrong with the white jade frost?”

Shen Qingqing: ‘Does he truly not know why she looks ugly?’

Shen Qingqing saw her family looking puzzled at her. She took a big breath and then took out the white jade frost and told Li Zhi, “I have thought about it a lot, Master Marquis. Whatever happened that day was just a coincidence. You don’t need to give me anything. I can’t accept this gift.” After saying that, Shen Qingqing hurried to Li Zhi and returned the medicinal bottle.

Li Zhi was very keen, and then he noticed a small piece of paper in the little girl’s hand that was hidden under a ceramic bottle.

Li Zhi felt something for Shen Qingqing in his heart.

Shen Qingqing forced a smile and said, “This present is really special.” 

Li Zhi paused and then said with a sad smile, “Since the seventh girl said that, I don’t want to make others do anything they don’t want to do.” As soon as the words were spoken, Li Zhi quickly grabbed them. 

Shen Qingqing bent a little and then walked away from him.
