Chapter 11.1

Seeing that the sun was ready to set in the west, Shen Qingqing didn’t intend to play chess with her grandmother anymore. “Grandma, I’m leaving now. I’ll talk to you tomorrow,” she sweetly said while stretching her hands. 

Mrs. Song hummed and then told her granddaughter, “Even if you are in your own house, you must take a maid with you wherever you go. Otherwise, what if you fall on the road?”

 Shen Qingqing smiled and said, “I am not Brother Wang, who is still wrestling at such an age.”

 Mrs. Song snorted. “You are the only one who talks a lot.”

 Shen Qingqing gave her grandma a playful hug and then went away.

 The Shen Mansion was given to the Shen family by Emperor Qing De because he wanted to give some face to his queen, the daughter of the Shen family.

 The scenery in the mansion was peaceful and quiet. In the middle of summer, people could find unusual flowers and rocks wherever they looked. Additionally, the setting sun added a gentle look to the surroundings. Unfortunately, Shen Qingqing didn’t want to enjoy the scenery right now. She hurried to the corner of the path that went to the third bedroom, hid behind a green bamboo, and waited nervously for Li Zhi.

 She told Li Zhi to bring the cake box, and Shen Qingqing wanted to avoid her parents seeing it, so she had to bump into Li Zhi.

 ‘I’m not sure if Li Zhi will listen and do as I told him.’

 Shen Qingqing held her handkerchief tightly and looked at the road across from her. Her hand started to itch suddenly. Shen Qingqing looked down and saw a mosquito on the back of her hand.

 Seeing that, Shen Qingqing grabbed the veil and smoothed it out quickly.

 The mosquito died and left a little blood on the back of her hand, and a bump appeared quickly where the bite was.

 Shen Qingqing was even more mad because mosquitoes were flying around her, so Shen Qingqing had to choose between her shoe and the mosquitoes and finally chose the shoe. To avoid getting bitten by mosquitoes, Shen Qingqing pulled her neck into her shirt collar, tucked her right hand into her sleeve, and used her other hand to wave away mosquitoes from her face.

 After waiting for about 30 minutes, Shen Qingqing saw her father returning with his follower, Agui.

 Shen Qingqing thought for a moment, and when her father came into the yard, she quickly ran out to avoid getting bitten by mosquitoes. Li Zhi might arrive later, so she could stay with her dad and meet Li Zhi with him, and then take the cake box Li Zhi would bring for her.

 “Dad, you’re home early today,” she said immediately upon his arrival.

 Shen Tingwen went into the main room and heard his daughter’s soft voice. He smiled and was going to speak to his daughter, and he saw two bamboo leaves stuck to her head.

“How?” Shen Tingwen asked strangely while pointing at his daughter’s head.

 Shen Qingqing touched her head and told a lie: “I saw lots of flowers behind the bamboo on the road, so I went to see them. Wow, I didn’t think there would be that many mosquitoes there.”

 She lifted her hand and showed two large red dots on the back of her hand.

 Shen Tingwen felt sad and asked Agui to quickly find some medicine for it.

 Later, Shen Qingqing washed her hands, put on some medicine, and then stayed in the front yard.

 After some time, it was dinner time, and Mrs. Chen, Shen Su, and Shen Wang also came to the front yard to have dinner.

 Shen Qingqing started feeling more and more angry because Li Zhi didn’t come. “You awful person, you scoundrel,” she cursed him under her breath.

 Before going to bed, Shen Qingqing scratched the mosquito bites on the back of her hands and angrily muttered. “Li Zhi, are you playing games with me?”

 Shen Qingqing became really frustrated because Li Zhi didn’t come for the next few days.
