Chapter 2.1

Shen Tingwen and some others went to look at the very old locust tree. The abbot asked a monk to go with them, and the other three monks stayed at the temple.

It was drizzling, and the yard was already clean and didn’t need to be cleaned. Two out of the three monks stood close to each other and talked quietly about the Shen family. As she was talking, she heard a strong noise, and someone kicked the door. He hit the chair that was blocking the door and pushed Yudie, who was holding the chair. The chair shook and moved, and Yudie fell to the ground with a thud.

Something surprising happened out of the blue. Yuchan’s legs got scared, and she also fell to the ground.

Shen Qingqing was scared by the mean-looking monk at the door. The girl’s instinctual fear of men made her stay calm and sensible. She tied her skirt quickly and got out of bed. She looked angrily at the monk with a black face. She warned him, “Stay away from here. My grandfather is a leader in the government, and my aunt is the queen. If you dare to touch me, they won’t let you go!” The fourteen-year-old boudoir girl’s black hair was messy, making her small face look even brighter—white and tender, like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered.
