Noble Son-in-Law - Chapter 22.1

Chapter 22.1
Shen Qingqing thought Li Zhi was blatantly hypocritical. He wanted to have a more personal conversation with her despite the fact that he knew she despised him.
“You should call me Madam.” With a glum expression, Shen Qingqing spoke.
“Okay, Madam, what did you have for dinner?” asked Li Zhi with a smile.
“Noodles.” Shen Qingqing treasured her words like gold.
“Your husband was just drinking and didn’t eat much.” Li Zhi stated, nodding. “Would you kindly invite me to eat, Madam? The same noodles you ate.”
Shen Qingqing gave the man a quick look before yelling at Yu Chan, who was outside.
Li Zhi abruptly put his palms over his lips just before Yu Chan left. He turned to Shen Qingqing and said, “Your husband drank too much. Could you please have some sobering tea, Madam?”
‘This is too much!’ Shen Qingqing pointed to the outside of the room irritably. “Sobering tea is on the table, Lord Marquis; go and drink it yourself.”
Li Zhi did not move and said sincerely, “Your husband is too drunk to drink, and I can’t walk anymore.”
Shen Qingqing: “…”
She really didn’t want to serve the man, but in order to shut up Li Zhi, she went to the outside room to bring sobering tea.
Shen Qingqing returned with the tea and placed it in front of Li Zhi without making any facial expressions. She was ready to go when she felt a grip around her waist. Shen Qingqing was completely unprepared, and she shrieked and collapsed into Li Zhi’s arms. “Let go!”
At that time, the images of the booklet came into her mind, and she struggled violently.
Li Zhi saw the bride dance and wave like a rabbit in a trap. He muttered while tightening the grip, “It’s been two years since we last saw one another, and my wife is getting more and more excited about her husband. She can’t control herself.”
The man’s words frightened Shen Qingqing almost to death. “If you have something to say, please let me go first!” She tilted her head and urged the man.
“On the wedding night… It’s a beautiful day. You and I should be affectionate. Madam, don’t be shy,” Li Zhi said, grinning at the young girl who was in his arms.
Li Zhi leaned over after saying that, his attractive face drawing nearer to Shen Qingqing’s flushed cheeks.
If Shen Qingqing turned around, she could see that the man’s eyes were clear and emotionless and had no lust or desire.
But how dare Shen Qingqing look at the man? She just wanted to escape quickly now.
As her harsh words didn’t work, she thought about changing the subject. “You, don’t you want to eat noodles? Food will be ready soon. Marquis… Mr. Li… You’ve been busy all day; don’t starve your body!”
After a moment of silence, as though hesitating, Li Zhi remarked, “It’s true what Madam said. She is worried about her husband.”
“Let go quickly. The maid will come in and see the joke,” Shen Qingqing whispered, pushing his arm as she exhaled a sigh of relief.
When the maid entered the room to inform that the food was ready, Li Zhi released his grip, and Shen Qingqing immediately jumped off his lap and ran out.
Li Zhi smiled, drank a few sips of the sobering tea brought by his wife, and then followed her outside.
Shen Qingqing was sitting in the main room with her two personal maids. With them around her, Shen Qingqing felt safe.
“Let’s eat first.” Li Zhi sat down at the dining table.
Shen Qingqing glanced at the man, deliberately covering her mouth with a handkerchief, and said with a sleepy voice, “I’m sleepy, Yuchan, please take good care of the Marquis.”
She was afraid that if she didn’t leave, Li Zhi would also order her to serve him in bathing. This man was as thick-skinned as the city wall, and Shen Qingqing was really afraid of him.
The two maids responded in unison.
Li Zhi looked at Shen Qingqing meaningfully. But he didn’t say anything.
Shen Qingqing left the room as there was a beast chasing her.

The newlyweds’ wedding quilt was spread out on the outside of the bed when Li Zhi returned to the inner chamber after leisurely finishing his meal and getting cleaned up.
Shen Qingqing actually wrapped herself tightly with a quilt and lay on the inside of the quilt on the bed with her back turned to him.
Li Zhi was not surprised at all.
He walked over, stood in front of the bed, and asked in a deep voice, “Madam, what do you mean by this?”
Shen Qingqing clutched the quilt firmly in her small hands, knowing that she would have to explain herself tonight. She turned to face the man and spoke as composedly as she could, “Master Li, I don’t like you, and that should be obvious.
I can’t resist if you ask for marriage from the Emperor, but I don’t want to be a real couple with you. I have thought about it. From now on, we will live our own lives, and you will accompany me in front of my parents. If you act well, I will also recruit beautiful concubines for you and be the most generous wife in the capital.”
Li Zhi sighed, sat down, and asked, “If that’s the case, why should I marry you?”
Shen Qingqing curled her lips and replied, “That’s a question the Marquis should reply.”
Shen Qingqing had already thought about that for two years, and she had come to the conclusion that Li Zhi was attracted by her beauty. And his anxious behaviour just now confirmed her suspicion.
“My wife is beautiful and intelligent, and I fell in love with her at first sight.” Li Zhi replied in a low voice.
Upon hearing those words, Shen Qingqing became more frustrated.
She knew she was a beauty, but why didn’t he save her that day if he truly fell in love with her at first sight? Li Zhi was a cold-blooded man who was solely concerned in making money and who valued merit over human life because he was unaware that she could swim at the time. Li Zhi later rekindled his desire after learning that she was still alive. “I simply don’t want to do everything you say. I’ll die for you if you dare to make me do something I don’t like!” Shen Qingqing raised her hands in front of the man and sat up.
She had a pair of scissors in her hand, and Li Zhi noticed it at that time.
Have a nice day!
