Noble Son-in-Law - Chapter 3.2
Chapter 3.2
Staggering on his feet, Cao Xiong touched his back in disbelief. In a blink of an eye, the sword had already penetrated deep into his heart.
“You, you…” Cao Xiong turned around with great difficulty, pointed at the man more than ten steps away, and yelled, “You are a bad ba*tard who doesn’t keep your word.”
“We are both the same, right?” Ĺi Zhi flashed a friendly smile.
Cao Xiong spit out blood as he fell to the ground.
Li Zhi kept watching the scene in front of him without blinking his eyes for a moment and took steps towards the collapsed man on the ground. He then lifted Cao Xiong’s chin with the tip of his black boot.
Cao Xiong turned his face mechanically, with blood on the corners of his lips, and refused to rest in silence. Finally, the heavenly wounded man exhaled his last breath into the air.
After confirming that the rebel was really dead, Li Zhi retracted his feet and stood there for a moment before he walked slowly towards the lake.
When the entire lake came into his view, Li Zhi was a bit surprised. What he saw was a figure in a pink dress swimming towards the east bank of the lake with her back to him.
The girl’s long pink skirt was floating on the water like a pink lotus drifting in the wind.
Li Zhi narrowed his eyes slightly. He heard with his own ears that Shen Qingqing told Cao Xiong that she didn’t know how to swim. ‘It turned out that she was lying? Her way of thinking to survive in a short time was really perfect.’
Shen Qingqing swam very hard. She just swam to the north shore, but it was too high and the mud in the water was too slippery; she could not climb up, so she had to find another place with a shallow bank and decided to swim to the east bank.
Suddenly, a “whooshing” sound came from behind, shocking Shen Qingqing. When she turned around, she saw Li Zhi standing on the shore, looking at her from afar with his phoenix eyes.
Shen Qingqing silently pouted. ‘This Marquis of Pingxi, at first glance a splendid immortal, is actually extremely cold-blooded. He promised in front of my father that he would save me. But as soon as my father left, he would only focus on capturing the rebels and not worry about my life or death. If I hadn’t learned to swim when I was little, I would have drowned now.’
Shen Qingqing’s aunt was the empress in the palace, and Li Zhi’s biological sister was a noble concubine in the palace. The relationship between the two families would never be too harmonious. If Li Zhi had refused to save her from the beginning, Shen Qingqing wouldn’t blame him too much. After all, she didn’t owe her anything, but it was too hypocritical for Li Zhi to do one thing in front of her father and another behind their back.
Turning around, Shen Qingqing continued swimming east.
The north bank was too high, and the east bank was low. After a little observation, Li Zhi understood Shen Qingqing’s intention. He walked first to the east bank, smiled gently, and extended his hand to Shen Qingqing. “I will help the girl.”
Shen Qingqing didn’t need it, so she turned around and swam elsewhere.
The girl was completely soaked. Under her long black hair was a fair and charming face, with eyebrows as black as black and red lips as red as vermilion. She was indeed beautiful, but what shocked Li Zhi the most was the brief look of anger and contempt in her eyes before she turned around. It was like a string of raindrops gently sliding across his heart, causing an unstoppable itching sensation.
Li Zhi smiled, then he jumped directly into the water and walked straight towards Shen Qingqing in front of him like a swimming dragon.
Shen Qingqing was stunned. When she realised Li Zhi was coming towards her, she was both confused and scared, so she quickly sped up. But in terms of physical strength, how could a fourteen-year-old lady compare with a military leader like Li Zhi?
When Shen Qingqing was about to reach shore, her waist suddenly held.
“Let’s go.” Shen Qingqing tried to shake off the man’s hand, but Li Zhi hugged her and swam north, carefully explaining, “I will take you to the shore.”
‘Do I need to be rescued by him?’ Shen Qingqing was angry. “I can swim by myself.”
Have a nice day!
