Professor Lu and Dr. Shen - Chapter 3.1

Chapter 3.1
-1-
After Teacher Lu and I became a legal couple, Lao Shen became sentimental.
He would sometimes stop eating and sigh with his chopsticks in hand, saying, “What to do? My daughter has grown up, and she is married. My little cotton-padded jacket has become someone else’s military coat.”
[Tl: Lao means old or senior in Chinese.]
My mom couldn’t tell if her husband was crazy or just making himself feel better.
Whenever Lao Shen felt sad, he would eat more candy while saying, “If I don’t eat candy, I’ll feel unhappy.”
Hearing those words, my mom made a face and said, “What you eat causes diabetes, not reduces sadness.”
On New Year’s Eve, after the New Year’s Eve dinner at home, Ms. Shi told Lao Shen to drop Teacher Lu and me back to the Lu family.
“You still have to go to your husband’s house to watch New Year’s Eve. This is the rule.”
The moment Ms. Shi opened her mouth to cruelly drive Teacher Lu and me away, the smile on Lao Shen’s face vanished, and he closed his chatterbox.
Feeling a little sentimental, I hugged him and said, “Dad, I’m leaving. Happy New Year.”
However, my father didn’t get in the car, so my brother had to got in the car to become our driver.
When I got in the car, I saw Lao Shen outside the window, smoking. When my brother started the car, Lao Shen came up to us, tapped on the driver’s window, and signalled for my brother to come out of the car.
The seat belt was fastened, and the car started when the clutch was pressed. Each action seemed to have a dangerous and deadly feeling around it, and Lao Shen drove off without saying a word.
When we came to the destination, I got out of the car and had not said goodbye yet; the car had already sped, leaving a dusty tail.
My sister texted me and said that our mom was watching me from the window while I was carrying my bag, and she appeared to be upset and crying.
A wedding was a joyful occasion for both families, but seeing your daughter get married away would also make parents sad.
When we talked about the wedding, I just asked for it to not be extravagant or over the top. And it didn’t matter if they asked us not to attend our wedding because I didn’t want to see my parents crying.
-2-
I wanted to lose weight before the wedding and only ate raw chocolate all day.
Teacher Lu: “Why do you really like sweets so much?”
I said nonsense: “As the saying goes, girls who love sweets have better luck.”
Teacher Lu said, “Good fortune? I don’t know if smiles are good, but your teeth will not be in good shape.”
Then he showed me a picture of a braised pork rice plate and said, “If you get skinnier, your boobs and butt will disappear, and it will really impact my wedding night.”
Me: “…Beast!”
Have a nice day!
