Chapter 10.1

He Yunqin looked at her from top to bottom and smiled. “Miss Yu is so polite.”

 Seeing his smile Yu Hongdou thought, ‘This person looks better when he smiles.’

 As they were not familiar with each other, the two of them said goodbye and went their own way.

The building on the business card looked quite decent. It was a two-story building facing the street with milky-white walls; the windows were painted dark red, and several windows were polished as new.

 There were western grocery stores and barber shops nearby, so everything was very convenient.

 When he arrived at the door, He Yunqin parked the car, got out of it, went to the door, and rang the bell.

 The concierge seemed to be familiar with He Yunqin. As soon as he came in, he smiled while greeting, “Mr. He, good afternoon.”

 “Good afternoon, Luo Dai.” He Yunqin also greeted.

 Yu Hongdou, who also came at the same time, showed the business card to the concierge named Luo Dai. “Hi, I’m here to see Inspector Peter Wang.”

 “It’s Miss. Yu. Please come with me.” Luo Dai took the business card, looked at Yu Hongdou, and said. 

 ‘It seems Inspector Wang has told you about me.’ Yu Hongdou thought.

 Just about to leave, He Yunqin stopped her. “Luo Dai, you go do your things. I’ll just take her up.”

 He Yunqin was familiar with Peter Wang; after hearing this, Luo Dai stopped.

 He Yunqin: “Is Inspector Wang working on the second floor?”

 Luo Dai: “Yes.”

 He Yunqin hummed. Seeing that Yu Hongdou had no intention of walking ahead, he went up the stairs first.

 He was tall; one step was equal to Hongdou’s three steps, and he went up to the second floor in a few strokes.

 Yu Hongdou climbed a few steps with a dull head, and when she looked up again, she only saw He Yunqin’s back.

Fortunately, this person was still a bit of a gentleman, so he didn’t enter the room by himself and only raised his hand to open the door after she had also reached the second floor.

This was a suite with a small reception room outside and a study inside.

When they entered the room, Peter Wang was leaning on the recliner by the window with his feet up, thinking deeply about something. There was a wine bottle and a glass on the round table next to him.

He was surprised to see both of them coming in one after the other. He couldn’t help but hiccup and ask, “Did you two come together?”

“We met halfway.” He Yunqin sat on the sofa and asked Peter Wang for water. “I’m thirsty; do you have any water?”

Peter Wang put down the newspaper, got up from the recliner, and greeted him. “What would Miss Yu want to drink? I have met many young girls like you who love to drink orange juice. Would you like a glass?”

Since Yu Hongdou came in, she only looked at the whole gable-like bookshelf in the room, and after hearing this, she smiled and said, “Thank you, Inspector Wang; no need; just like Mr. He, let me have a glass of water. That’s it.”

Peter Wang then rang the bell and asked for two glasses of water.

The tray was quickly delivered to him, and He Yunqin waited for Yu Hongdou to take a glass first before picking up another glass to drink.

Yu Hongdou thought to herself, ‘Although He Yunqin always looks proud of everything, he is well-bred.’

“Miss Yu, I didn’t expect you to come to me so soon.” Peter Wang sat down and looked at the young girl with interest.

Yu Hongdou frowned and replied, “I’m facing big trouble, so I want to ask Inspector Wang for help.”

“Oh, what’s the trouble?”

Yu Hongdou looked down and pondered silently. She knew that Peter Wang had a bad relationship with the police department, so she decided not to mention Chen Baidie and Wang Meiping. Instead, she asked Inspector Wang for help in finding someone.

Peter Wang was surprised and asked who she was looking for.

Concerned about her cousin’s reputation, Yu Hongdou didn’t want to talk about her cousin in front of He Yunqin, but He Yunqin had no intention of leaving from the beginning to the end. So finally she had to say, “My cousin Pan Yuqi.”

When He Yunqin heard this name, he stopped drinking water and looked at Yu Hongdou calmly.

“You mean your cousin is missing?” Peter Wang sat upright with his crooked body. “It’s really unfortunate; no wonder you came to me so soon. Um, Miss Yu, can you tell me the details?”

“She has been missing since last Saturday. My cousin went to attend the tea party in the Xinya Tea Room. When it was about 2.50 p.m. I saw my cousin chatting with a man there. We didn’t talk to each other. And after your speech, I searched for her, but I couldn’t find her. I thought she left earlier. Only yesterday I knew that she had disappeared from Saturday.”

Peter Wang tapped his temple. “That is to say, your cousin has been missing for two days?”

 “Yes.”
