Yu Hongdou actually wanted to stay and watch He Yunqin and Wang Peter analyse the clues, but He Yunqin didn’t give her room to discuss and took her downstairs.

Because he was not her brother, she couldn’t coax him to let her stay. So she followed the man downstairs with a dereject look.

He Yunqin walked ahead, also a little puzzled. ‘I thought that Hongdou would find a way to stay, but unexpectedly, she was very quiet. I should be happy, but I don’t know why I feel a little lost.’

When they were downstairs, Yu Hongdou thought to take one last time, “Mr. He, do you want to develop the photos today? If you are busy, I can stay. No problem.”

Hearing the girl was talking more softly than usual, the man pondered for a while. Suddenly he stopped walking and asked,

“Miss Yu, what’s the matter?”

“My brother went to Yuan’s house to search. Mr. He and Detective Wang stayed to conduct research, and they only have two hands together, and there is really limited what they can do. I was thinking, since I found the “Xuanzong Yelu,” why don’t I take some occult materials collected by Inspector Wang? It was late, and it was inconvenient for her to stay at Wang’s house at this time. So she thought it would be good if she could take some materials home.

He Yunqin sighed and remained silent. He waited for a bit, and when Yu Hongdou persisted in bothering him, he nodded coldly and replied, “That’s fine.”

After taking up materials, the two of them exit the house.

While He Yunqin was driving the car, Yu Hongdou scanned the materials, and neither of them talked.

After they arrived at Tongfu Lane, He Yunqin parked the car on the side of the road. Because it was very dark, He Yunqin also got out of the car and accompanied the girl to her house.

While they were walking, Yu Hongdou was thinking about what happened today. Although she still didn’t understand the motive of He Yunqin for helping the case, she found out the man was not as annoying as she thought earlier. ‘When people are not bickering, this person is still easy to get along with.’

The lights of tailor Peng’s house were already turned off, and only a few yellow street lights were lighting the street.

As she was going to climb the stairs, she remembered her bicycle was at Wang Peter’s place. So she quickly turned around to ask about it. Who knew that He Yunqin was also thinking about something and couldn’t dodge for a while, and Yu Hongdou’s forehead hit the man’s chin.

“Ah!” Yu Hongdou yelled and hurriedly took a step back.

He Yunqin hissed, as if he had been hit hard.

When she stood still, Yu Hongdou frowned and rubbed her forehead, thinking to herself, ‘The top of my head reached his chin; could it be that he is taller than my elder brother?’ Then she remembered it was her fault. “Mr. He, are you all right?”

He Yunqin took his hand off his chin after a while, looked at the girl in front of her, and said lightly, “Miss Yu’s head is really strong.”

Yu Hongdou said awkwardly, “I just remembered that my bicycle was left at Detective Wang’s house.”

Startled, He Yunqin said, “I’m afraid it will be too late to go back and get it. It’s too late.”

“Then I’ll go tomorrow morning to pick up the bicycle,” Yu Hongdou replied.

The two fell silent once more as some insects in the grass began to chirp. It was much quieter than midsummer because it was October, and she remained quiet for a while.

Suddenly, someone behind her pulled open the door as she was going to thank him.

“Mr. He?” A gasping voice came over the door.

Yu Hongdou looked back as soon as she recognised the voice.
