Yan Yan - Chapter 13

Chapter 13 – Luckily
Bo’ai Hospital was a top private hospital that provided high-end medical services, and its security was also very strict. So when Su Yan ran in, she was stopped by the security guards, who demanded her verification certificate to enter the hospital.
Su Yan was very confused, and she said that she had not come to visit any family members or meet a doctor but wanted to go to the security department to find someone.
One of the security guards looked at her suspiciously and took the walkie-talkie to contact his colleague. After knowing the incident, the security guard replied, “Wait here, someone is coming to pick you up.”
“Who is it?” Su Yan asked suspiciously.
She felt that Xie Yu would come, but the last person she wanted to see was Xie Yu.
The security guard replied, “I don’t know.”
So Su Yan had to wait with eggs boiling in her heart.
Su Yan watched the setting sun with anxiety, thinking about her brother. While waiting, she wanted to turn and leave quickly, fearing she would meet Xie Yu. But how could she leave without his brother?
After some time, a man came to pick her up; fortunately, the person who came to pick her up was not Xie Yu but a middle-aged man in a suit.
Su Yan also knew the person who came. He was Xie Yu’s uncle, Xie Heshan, and then she couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. As long as the person who came was not Xie Yu, she would be able to face it calmly.
Xie Heshan, who was over fifty, kept a tall and slim figure, unlike other fifty-year-old men with bear bellies.
“Yanyan.” He smiled kindly and greeted her.
Since her brother was still in their custody, she could only choose to say, “Uncle Xie,” in a respectful manner.
“Come with me.” Xie Heshan said to Su Yan.
“En.” Su Yan nodded and quickly followed Uncle Xie Yu’s footsteps.
Xie Heshan led her to a long corridor on the east side of the hall.
The Bo’ai Hospital’s inpatient section was quieter than the outpatient portion. Even though it was still evening, visiting hours for family and friends had long since ended. In the entire building, there were hardly any people.
In the entire corridor, only Su Yan and Xie Heshan were present.
Su Yan was so anxious that she wanted to rush straight to the security room, but Xie Heshan wasn’t moving fast at all; instead, he was strolling along peacefully as he was having a walk after dinner. Su Yan couldn’t urge him, so she was forced to follow him. As they approached the centre of the hallway, Xie Heshan abruptly looked at her face and said, full of concern and distress, “Xiaoyu is uneducated, and you have been wronged.”
Su Yan replied, neither humbling nor domineering, “Me and Xie Yu are completely over.”
Xie Heshan halted in his tracks and gave Su Yan a tender gaze before saying, “You are a good girl. Someone greater will adore you.”
Su Yan was startled, took a step back unconsciously, and cast a wary glance at Xie Heshan.
Xie Heshan approached her with a friendly demeanour and said, “Yanyan, uncle has admired you for a long time, but why… ” He then reached out to stroke her cheek.
Before Xie Heshan could finish speaking, Su Yan violently pushed him away, then turned around and ran back to the hall and subconsciously took out her mobile phone, wanting to call Bai Xingfan.
However, she hesitated a moment before clicking the call button. ‘He is not a relative or a close friend. What qualifications do I have to tell him to get involved in this muddy water?’ Not long ago, she even rejected his offer. After only a few moments of hesitation, she made a new choice and put down the phone decisively.
She was disgusted by that beast, Xie Heshan; therefore, her stomach was still twitching. She fought the temptation to throw up and turned to face the direction she had come from.
Xie Heshan walked over step by step with a calm expression, as if nothing had happened.
She then went in search of her younger brother. She walked to the service desk in the lobby, where fortunately there was a nurse on duty, and asked the nurse for directions to the security room.
According to the nurse, the security room was located on the west side of the hall at the end of the corridor.
Su Yan’s stomach jerked once more, making her feel extremely uncomfortable, as she realised that Xie Heshan had just taken her to the east corridor.
It took some time for her to inquire for instructions, and just as she was about to say “thank you” to the on-duty nurse, Xie Heshan approached her once more while keeping a gentlemanly and open demeanour.
Su Yan clenched her teeth and walked away.
“Your brother seriously hurt Xiaoyu; his mother is not a fuel-efficient person; she would absolutely not let you go,” Xie Heshan said as he trailed after in a confrontational manner.
“Barefoot is not scared of wearing shoes. What more do I have to fear now? At worst, we will die together. Let’s go to the security room together,” said Su Yan, moving forward quickly without turning her head.
Xie Heshan furiously and unwillingly stared at Su Yan’s back, wanting to pierce her with his eyes.
When Su Yan arrived at the security room, many people had already gathered there and were making trouble. The one who made the most noise was Xie Yu’s mother, Shen Rong, followed by Xie Yu’s two aunts, who were standing in front of the closed door.
There were two tough-looking security guards, and they were trying to make them silent, saying, “Please don’t make trouble. This is a hospital, so we must keep quiet and maintain law and order. We really can’t open the door for you.”
“You… our Xie family has never been easy to provoke; if you don’t open the door immediately, I will clean up both of you with that little b*stard inside.” Shen Rong screamed, pointing at the door.
“Who do you call a bastard?” Su Yan’s voice was cold and mixed with anger.
The originally chaotic security room fell silent in an instant, and everyone turned their heads to look at her.
Shen Rong became more and more furious, and she rushed to Su Yan in a few strides, raised her hand, and slapped her, yelling, “You b*stard! How dare you come!”
This happened so quickly, and Su Yan didn’t have time to hide, so she got the slap. As her left ear began to buzz and pain spread across her face, she heard her brother shouting, “Sister!”
Su Zhan was huddled in the security room right now; he wasn’t frightened to leave, but he couldn’t since Xie’s family had blocked the entrance. If he left, turmoil would follow, and more importantly, he didn’t want to become involved with Xie Yu because of Xie Yu’s unprofessional behaviour.
He was a college student who had received a top-notch education. He was not a shrew’s opponent. He so eagerly awaited Brother Bai’s arrival to fetch him. But he never expected that his sister would come first.
When he heard his sister’s voice, he immediately opened the door of the security room and saw that Xie Yu’s mother was slapping Su Yan. So he stormed out, first pushing Shen Rong and then slapping her across the face, yelling, “Who the hell told you to touch my sister?”
Su Zhan’s strength dwarfed that of the middle-aged woman, Shen Rong. Shen Rong was knocked to the ground, while Su Yan’s face was simply bruised from the beating.
Seeing that, Xie’s family members who were present surrounded the two siblings and started to attack them.
Su Zhan opened his arms as quickly as possible, placing his sister behind him with all of his vigilance.
Su Yan looked at her younger brother’s tall and straight back with tearful eyes, and she felt that she was very incompetent as an elder sister; the Xie family would definitely not let Xiao Zhan go easily.
She had no choice but to reach for her phone and hastily text Bai Xingfan. [Help.]
Suddenly a woman came running towards them and started to hit Su Zhan, saying, “You little b*stard, dare you fight with anyone? Are our sisters vegetarians?” This was one of Xie Yu’s aunts, Shen Ping.
While helping Xie Yu’s mother, Shen Li, Xie Yu’s second aunt, spoke up, “Today, I must peel off the skin of you and your sister, you little b*tch!”
When Su Yan noticed that her younger brother was being beaten, she screamed in shock, jumped out from under his open arms without pausing, and then opened her arms to block him while yelling at Shen Ping, “You do it again! I’ll fight you hard if you hit him even once!”
“You little vixen, you still want to argue with me?” snorted Xie Yu’s aunt cruelly. “Your clothing must be removed today, and let’s see how flirty you are. Let’s find out!”
Su Yan panicked and immediately covered her chest with her hands.
After the second aunt, Shen Li, helped Shen Rong to the blue rest chair, she also rushed over angrily, reached out, and grabbed Su Yan’s arm, then began to pull her sleeve.
Su Zhan, seeing this, angrily shoved the two of them away, swiftly embraced his sister in his arms, spun around to shield her against the wall with his body, and used his back to resist the assault from Xie Yu’s two aunts.
But these two middle-aged women weren’t going to stop there. One viciously kicked and pounded Su Zhan in the back, and the other grabbed Su Yan’s clothes and tore them off.
The siblings had no choice but to be beaten passively.
Other people there looked at the scene with cold eyes without doing anything.
Su Yan felt her younger brother’s body was shivering uncontrollably after receiving a severe punch to the back. She also heard the muffled sound of the beating. “Xiao Zhan, leave me alone; you go!” she said, sobbing.
Su Zhan muttered, “I’m alright,” while firmly holding his sister in his arms and remaining unmoved.
Xie Yu’s two aunts kept beating the brother and the sister for some time until the two aunts were dragged out by the neck. And soon after that, two slap sounds echoed in the room, shocking everyone present.
Shen Ping, who had been working on tearing Su Yan’s clothes, suddenly had a swollen face; the corners of her lips were cracked; and two bright red nosebleeds flowed down her nostrils.
The other aunt, Shen Li, who was kicking Su Zhan just now, was frightened by the young man who suddenly appeared and gave her sister a heavy slap.
Bia Xingfan, with a gloomy, livid face, stared at them.
Xie Yu’s mother, Shen Rong, became furious about this and immediately jumped from the chair to yell at him, but was stopped by Xie Yu’s uncle, Xie Heshan.
Then he looked at Bai Xingfan politely and flatteringly and said, “Boss Bai.”
Xie Heshan had been standing in a corner watching two sisters of the Shen family beat the brother and sister. He was very confident that Su Yan would seek his help after such a thing and never dreamed that Bai Xingfan would appear suddenly. After pondering for a few seconds, he understood that Bai Xingfan’s arrival had to do with Su Yan.
Su Zhan felt a lot of relief after seeing Bai Xingfag’s face and shouted in surprise, “Brother Bai! You are finally here!”
“Are you okay?” He was asking Su Zhan, but Bai Xingfan’s gaze was fixed on Su Yan.
Su Yan was crying and covering her face with torn clothes. Her white underwear and part of her breasts were exposed, so she was trying to cover herself with her hands. Seeing that, Bai Xingfan’s expression became even more gloomy.
Su Zhan unwrapped his hands from his sister and stood where he was to cover her with his body. At the same time, he complained to Bai Xingfan. “How can she be okay? Look, my sister is about to die under those women’s hands, and they tore her clothes.”
Bai Xingfan quickly removed his suit jacket and tossed it to Su Zhan, saying, “Hurry… put it on your sister,” while looking at Xie Heshan.
Xie Heshan understood Bai Xingfan’s look. He was asking for an explanation.
The status of the Bai family in Dongfu was very high, and everyone was afraid of Bai Xingfan. Even if they offended others, they could not offend the Bai family. If they do so, the consequences would be incalculable.
Xie Heshan suddenly broke out in a cold sweat and hurriedly defended himself. “I, I, I just arrived, and I don’t know what happened!”
“You fart! You were here, standing in that corner, watching us get beat. You old prevet, you have been staring at my sister! Bah!” Su Zhan could not control himself.
Xie Heshan: “…”
With slightly narrowed eyes and a stern expression on his face, Bai Xingfan said to Xie Heshan, “If you want to spend the rest of your life in prison, I don’t mind putting you in.”
In a daze, Xie Heshan stood still and stared at Bai Xingfan.
The other individuals in the room didn’t understand what this sentence meant, but Xie Heshan did; his face turned as white as paper, a cold sweat fell down his brow, and his entire body shook like chaff.
Su Zhan pointed to Shen Rong, who was seated on the chair, and said, “She scolded us; she scolded us for being extremely dirty, and she beat my sister!” Su Zhan had the impression that the old pervert Xie Heshan appeared to have been frightened, so he then started to sue the next person.
Bai Xingfan’s thin lips were pursed into a straight line, and he cast his eyes on Shen Rong without concealing the disdain in his expression. “The phoenix tree and water pavilion are really not on the stage.”
There weren’t many older people here, so they weren’t aware of the glorious history of Wutong Water Pavilion, Dongfu City’s once-largest entertainment district that was closed down 20 years ago.
But Xie Heshan and the three sisters of the Shen family could understand the meaning of Bai Xingfan’s words.
Shen Rong was taken off guard when she was stabbed by her past, and her face immediately turned extremely pale. She then glanced in fear at Bai Xingfan. ‘How was he able to learn about this long-kept secret? Has he told anyone else? If others learned, what would they think of me? What would Xiaoyu think of me as well?’ Shen Rong felt that she was struck by lightning. She didn’t dare to consider the matter further and gazed pleadingly at Bai Xingfan.
“How many times did you hit her?” demanded Bai Xingfan, refusing to let her go.
“One, one, I, I, I, I,” Shen Rong had already started to speak unsteadily. “I only slapped her once; I actually just gently touched it.”
Su Zhan: “You fart too! You’ve made my sister’s face swell up!”
“I was wrong, I really know I was wrong,” Shen Rong said, slumping on the chair and staring at Bai Xingfan. “I humbly ask for your forgiveness.”
“I don’t want to become involved in other people’s family matters, so let’s deal with it properly,” said Bai Xingfan, who gave Shen Rong no further glances and appeared indifferent.
In an instant, Xie Heshan realised what Bai Xingfan was trying to say. He gritted his teeth, raised his hand, and slapped himself first, then strode up to Shen Rong and slapped her again, screaming, “Unseemly b*tch!”
He slapped Shen Rong so hard to show his attitude that Shen Rong was left helpless, immediately lost her balance, and collapsed onto the stool next to her.
All the Xie family members there were shocked.
After the struggle, Xie Heshan turned to gaze at Bai Xingfan with fearful eyes, and he asked Bai Xingfan with his eyes if he was satisfied.
“Is Xiao Zhan still angry?” Bia Xingfan asked.
First, Su Zhan was indeed as surprised as the terrified Xie family around him, but after some time, he actually felt happy.
“When I see her, I just get angry! She also wants to humiliate me!” Su Zhan pointed out Shen Li, Xie Yu’s second aunt.
Shen Li became pale as Bai Xingfan began to glance at her, and she didn’t dare to look at him at all. Her hands were trembling constantly, and she bowed her head in fear. A person unexpectedly approached her a short while later, and she raised her eyes and gazed at him. She was welcomed with a slap. He was none other than Xie Heshan.
From the beginning to the end, Bai Xingfan remained silent. After Shen Li had also accepted the punishment, he then asked Su Zhan once more, “Are you still angry?”
Su Zhan rubbed his head in disbelief, having not expected that he would serve as the sole arbitrator. “It’s okay.”
Suddenly, he thought of something. “But they must guarantee that they will not bully my sister again in the future!”
On behalf of the entire Xie family, Xie Heshan quickly assured them that they would never bother Su Yan.
Su Zhan was still furious. “Never think that the Xie family is perfect all the time! The line between us and you is now clearly drawn by us! You are being looked down upon by us!”
“Sure, you taught me the right lesson,” Xie Heshan said, nodding.
Su Zhan turned to face Su Yan. “Sister, let’s go home!”
Su Yan remained silent because she was afraid she would lose her clothes. Although she was wearing Bai Xingfan’s suit, it was too large for her, and she had to clutch it tightly with both hands.
She nodded slightly in response to her brother’s words, and just as she was about to turn around and leave, she had a thought. She said to Shen Rong, “I will ask my parents to return all the betrothal gifts you gave.”
The bride fee would be returned in the case of a broken marriage.
[T/L: The bride price is a financial gift made to the family of the prospective bride by the groom’s family.]
Su Yan was a person of integrity, and she would never take advantage of the Xie family as long as she was alive.
As soon as her words were spoken, Su Zhan uttered, “Don’t worry; our parents already paid back the bride price. Who wants the foul money of the Xie family? All members of our Su family are upright individuals!”
Su Yan felt pleasantly delighted and a little surprised. She didn’t expect her parents to act so quickly! At the same time, she was proud of her parents: although they were born in rural areas, they still have integrity!
Su Yan unexpectedly became full of confidence and talked to Shen Rong, saying, “Don’t think your son is the best in the world; I, Su Yan, am not a person who can’t live without him. Now I’m the one who refunded your family’s bride price; I’m the one who voluntarily stepped down from the engagement!”
Su Zhan agreed by nodding. “Yes! We voluntarily called off the wedding!”
After ending their conversation, the siblings turned to face one another, their eyes shining with success and fame, completely oblivious to the man who had forced them to act like they were powerful.
Bai Xingfan couldn’t help laughing and finally said, “Let’s go.”
The siblings left with their heads held high.
After returning to the car, Su Yan finally let out a long sigh of relief.
Su Zhan was in a good mood and asked cheerfully, “Sister, shall we go home now?”
Su Yan twisted her head to look at him. “Why don’t you check your face in the mirror to see how swollen it is? How do you return home? When you get home, Grandmother will be upset.”
“Your face is not much better than mine,” Su Zhan said after being insulted by his sister.
Su Yan: “…”
‘Who is responsible for that? Hmph… He truly needs to be beaten.’
Without noticing that his sister’s temper had begun to rise, Su Zhan foolishly questioned, “Where are you going if you don’t go home?”
Su Yan pursed her lips and gave the co-pilot, Bai Xingfan, a worried look.
She had planned on leaving today, but she couldn’t leave now, and there was an extra oil bottle.
She really couldn’t find words.
Just as she was about to ask whether her brother had money to stay at a hotel, Bai Xingfan abruptly ordered the driver to return to the manor. The driver nodded and carefully accelerated the car.
Su Yan froze and stared blankly at Bai Xingfan. She remembered how she had refused his proposal earlier.
The neon lights of the city started to flicker at this point, and the sky had already turned dark. The interior of the dark car was bathed in light and shadow as a result of the street lights’ constant retreat.
From her angle, she could see Bai Xingfan’s profile clearly: the angular jawline was severely shaded, the tall nose bridge was highlighted by light, and the thin and angular cheekbones were all clearly visible. This person was like a three-dimensional sketch.
‘No woman could resist such a man.’
She wanted to express her gratitude, but when the words left her mouth, she once again felt helpless because there was no other way to show her appreciation besides by expressing it aloud. Although he said not to say ‘thank you’, Su Yan finally expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much for what you did.”
“Miss Su, why don’t you send me a voicemail? When I want to hear you say “thank you,” I’ll click to listen,” Bai Xingfan said with a light sigh.
Su Yan wanted to laugh but also felt a little ashamed.
Su Zhan abruptly ended the talk about ‘thank you’ at this point. “Wow, Brother Bai, don’t think about that. She has such a powerful voice! Usually, I immediately convert the voice messages she sends me into text after listening to them for no more than five seconds. Too fiercer!”
Su Yan: ‘That’s because you, a fool, don’t deserve my tenderness!’
Bai Xingfan couldn’t help laughing again. “So Miss Su still has such a powerful side?”
Su Yan flushed even though she understood that he was joking, turned to face the silly Baitian, and started to settle the score with him. “Are you bored? You just came here to look for problems?”
“I didn’t come here only to look for problems; I saw Xie Yu on the road, and at first I didn’t want to talk to him, but then I couldn’t take it any longer, so I followed him to the hospital,” said Su Zhan in defence.
Su Yan: “And then?”
“I beat him; who knew that his father was celebrating his birthday today and the entire Xie family was there?” Su Zhan rubbed his head angrily once more.
Su Yan couldn’t help wondering if Xie Yu was badly hurt because she didn’t see him at the hospital. “Is he seriously injured?”
Su Zhan quickly uttered, “Actually, it’s not my fault; I just punched him. Who knew that he didn’t hide or block; he took my punch and then fell down the stairs. Two broken ribs…”
Su Yan looked at Su Zhan, stunned and perplexed.
Su Zhan was almost as shocked and gave his sister a shocked look. “Why are you looking at me like this? Do you still worry about him? How did he treat you? Can’t you just let him go?”
Bai Xingfan, who was sitting in the passenger seat, clutched his right fist while remaining silent.
Helpless, Su Yan said, “I’m scared he’ll sue you!”
Su Zhan: “Oh, it shouldn’t be. Before entering the operating room, he repeatedly asked his family members not to call the police; otherwise, I would have been arrested.
It was beyond her expectations. “He has a conscience,” Su Yan said.
Su Zhan agreed. “Yes, he does have some morals, more so than his mother, but I still have to thank him for not marrying you because the Xie family is a gang! You can’t live in such a family.”
Although Su Yan remained silent, she secretly agreed with her younger brother’s opinion.
She was deeply disgusted by the play that took place in the hospital today since it allowed her to see the true nature of the Xie family, whether it was Xie Yu’s mother, his aunt, or his uncle.
Thankfully, the marriage was cancelled; otherwise, she would have started a family with this horrible group of people.
Marriage was not only between two people but also between two families.
The Xie family was despicable and dirty, and they were definitely not good people.
Su Zhan was still pondering it over: “His mom is the best! My God, since I was a young child, I have never seen a woman of such poor quality. Not as good as our mom, a woman from the countryside! If you actually wed Xie Yu, his mother will bully you daily.”
Su Yan felt a rush of anxiety that she would never be able to shake for the rest of her life, and it wasn’t just because she was on the verge of marrying Shen Rong’s son. It was also because of Xie Yu’s uncle. Since he dared to tease her in a public setting like the hospital, what else could he not do? ‘Xie Yu wouldn’t be able to be by my side all the time; there would always be moments when I am alone at home, and if his uncle comes at such a time…’
The more she thought about it, the more afraid she became. After a long silence, Su Yan said truthfully, “Fortunately, he escaped from marriage…”
A few minutes ago, she still felt that the failed wedding was a nightmare, pushing her into the bottomless abyss. But now she suddenly realised that it was simply a saviour, pushing her out of the abyss.
“Yes, it’s fortunate that he avoided getting married. We still wouldn’t be able to witness the disgusting side of Xie’s family if it weren’t for his attempt to flee from marriage!” Su Zhan also agreed.
Yes. Su Yan finally felt a lot of relief after such an incident.
Su Zhan encouraged his sister once more, saying, “Don’t be upset over Xie Yu anymore; it’s not worth it!”
Su Yan also wanted to end this relationship, but she was unable to do so since she still hated him and couldn’t forgive him.
In the end, Xie Yu betrayed both her and their love. He forced her to the edge, made her feel pain and misery, and then left her and her family in the dark to deal with everyone’s judgement and suspicion. If she could even forgive such a betrayal, she would no longer be a human being but the all-powerful Virgin Mary. What’s more, he was her entire youth.
How was it possible to end a more than ten-year relationship suddenly?
She couldn’t take her eyes off the ten-year relationship, not even for love. It resembled a pond. The fish there always believed the water was crystal clear, so they dove in happily. However, one day, the fish realised that everything was wrong. The water was quite nasty and not at all clear, so how could the illusion not continue?
It was a sense of broken faith.
Without saying anything, Su Yan sighed softly, halted her speech, turned her head aside, and stared out the window.
Raising his eyes, Bai Xingfan peered in the rearview mirror. His aura was entirely restrained, but it was utterly deadly, like a beast stalking its victim in the dark and waiting for an opportunity to move. His expression gradually became colder, and his eyes gradually grew darker and deeper.
The driver quickly returned the vehicle to the manor.
Su Zhan’s first visit was met with the same reaction as his sister’s first visit, but he acted very differently from his sister.
“Wow! Your home is huge, Brother Bai! It is magnificent! It looks fantastic!” He kept gazing everywhere while he spoke, practically making his head tremble.
Su Yan found it embarrassing that this silly man was making a fool of himself. But she couldn’t remind him as she went upstairs to change clothes quickly.
She removed the ripped and ill-fitting white sweater and wore a light blue casual tee. She then went downstairs and asked the fat aunt for a bottle of medicinal wine and went to her brother, who was seated cross-legged on the floor in front of the TV cabinet and was intently examining the building block bear that was protected by the transparent glass cover.
Bai Xingfan sat on the sofa, looking at Su Zhan’s back with a smile on his face as if looking at his younger brother.
Su Yan was aware that Silly Baitian enjoyed creating block bears, as did Bai Xingfan’s brother. When Su Zhan saw the limited-edition construction block bear, he was unable to move. Although she can understand all the odd behaviour of her brother, was it appropriate to act in such a humiliating manner in another person’s home? ‘Hey, your eyes are about to burst!’
She inhaled deeply before yelling fiercely, “Get up, the floor is cold!”
Su Zhan ignored it and exclaimed in delight. “Sister, did you know that this is Kaws02? The first combined limited edition of 100% size in Bearbrick history! Big, big, and precious!”
Su Yan suppressed her temper and said, “I know now; get up quickly!”
Su Zhan: “Brother Bai said he bought it for his younger brother.”
Su Yan: “…” ‘What do you mean?’
“Your younger brother also wishes to feel this type of love,” said Su Zhan.
Su Yan: “…” ‘I knew it!’ She took a big breath and said, “I’ll count to three; if you don’t stand up, I’ll beat you up, one,” pointing at Su Zhan.
This was most people’s childhood shadow. For other people’s children, this kind of shadow came from their parents, but for Su Zhan, this kind of shadow came from his sister.
Su Zhan reflexively rose off the ground before Su Yan could count to two.
Surprised, Bai Xingfan couldn’t help but laugh in a low voice. He was astonished by Su Yan in this way and thought she was very cute.
Su Yan’s cheeks instantly became red, and she felt as though her ladylike demeanour had entirely collapsed.
Su Zhan was angry and turned to stare at Bai Xingfan before complaining angrily. “You have no idea how stubborn my sister is to me, she is the toughest member of our family! She was threatening me in front of others, but she was actually beating me when other family members were away. We used to live in a house with a willow tree by the gate, and whenever she got angry, she would whip me with the willow stick as if I were a milling donkey.”
Su Yan was going to lose it over this guy who kept making fun of her, but as soon as he said, “Milling donkey,” she instantly lost it and couldn’t help but laugh aloud.
Bai Xingfan also laughed, imagining some similarities between Su Zhan and his youngster, Xinglan.
The living room briefly radiated happiness and serenity while erupting in a world of smoke and fire that had never before been witnessed in this opulent home.
Su Zhan became increasingly enraged, declaring, “You two’s happiness now depends on my suffering!”
“I’ll make you suffer even more if you don’t sit on the sofa honestly again.” Su Yan scowled.
Su Zhan: “What are you doing?”
“I’ll apply the medicine on you, so take off your shirt,” Su Yan said, holding up the bottle of medicinal wine.
Su Zhan tightly clutched his chest and asked, “How old am I? Do you want to remove my clothes? What… I’m a man, and you are a woman.”
Bai Xingfan also disagreed with this approach.
Despite being her own younger brother, he was a mature man and twenty years old. He might be indifferent to any other woman, but Su Yan… she made him uncomfortable.
“I simply asked you to remove your shirt; after all, I gave you a bath when you were a kid,” Su Yan said, rolling her eyes.
Su Zhan: “It all happened when I was a child! I’m not a child anymore.”
Su Yan: “…”
Bai Xingfan suddenly got up from the couch, opened his shirt’s cuffs, and said, “Let me do it,” while Su Yan was debating whether or not to punch her brother.
Su Yan suddenly turned to face him after being surprised.
“It’s true that men and women can’t see each other like this; this is an act of etiquette,” Bai Xingfan stated gravely as he rolled up his sleeves, moved in front of her, and took the medication bottle from her.
End of Chapter 13
