Chapter 36.3 – South Wall

When Su Yan and Su Zhan arrived home, their parents were awake and waiting for them on the sofa in the living room.

When the parents saw their kids come home, both of them turned off the TV and stood up.

Su Zhan helped Su Yan bring the suitcase back to the room, and then he returned to his own room.

Su Yan didn’t put her clothes in her suitcase right away because she was really tired. Instead, she chose to take a shower and go to sleep.

When she was charging her phone, she saw that there were some gift boxes on her bedside table. One of the boxes was from a delivery company and had not been opened yet.

She opened the box with red velvet on it. Inside the box, there was some gold jewellery.

On her birthday, her mom messaged her a picture of a pretty set of jewellery on WeChat. She received the gift on her 24th birthday from her father. Even though Su Yan didn’t celebrate her birthday, her parents still give her presents every year.

Gold was not good for young people to wear because it was too old-fashioned. Young people’s attitudes and emotions were not suited for the elegance and wealth associated with gold.

Su Yan decided to wear only earrings because she didn’t want to upset her parents, even though she didn’t want to wear gold bracelets and chains outside.

She took the yellow earrings out of the box, closed it, and put the box in the jewellery cabinet. Then she opened a second box that had pearls inside. A necklace was a piece of jewellery that was worn around the neck.

This was a birthday present from a silly Baitian. She identified that because there was a pink love sticky note on it with some messy handwriting like chicken feet. “Sister. Have a happy birthday. You are eighteen years old.”

For the sake of the words “18 years old”, Su Yan tolerated these ugly words.

Finally, she went to unpack the express box. Before unpacking, she glanced at the sender’s information, but the column said “Happy Birthday”.

Su Yan became more and more puzzled. ‘Who gave the birthday present?’

After opening the package, she found a very well-made rectangular wooden box. The box’s belt was made of bronze. When Su Yan opened the buckle plate, she lifted the lid of the box and found a moon-white silk cheongsam inside.

Su Yan instantly knew who gave this gift.

It was Xie Yu.

Before the wedding, they picked out clothes to wear for the special occasion. She said she wanted to put on a cheongsam. To be like her, he also started wearing Chinese clothes for special occasions.

Unfortunately, they went all around Dongfu but couldn’t find a cheongsam that worked for them.

It’s not that those Cheongsams were bad, but that they didn’t suit her heart and she didn’t like them.

At that time, Xie Yu made a promise to her that he would make her wish come true in the future and give her a special Chinese dress in this world.

Now, she has the Cheongsam dress, but the person who gave it to her has already turned against her.

Su Yan didn’t understand why he had sent this cheongsam. ‘Was it to show that he is a loving person or to show that he kept his promises?’

She closed the box and threw it at the door without feeling upset. She planned to get rid of it in the morning when she woke up.

After she finished taking a bath, she got into bed, grabbed her phone from the table next to her, and saw that silly Baitian sent her a WeChat message: [Sister, there is a drive-in cinema on the North Third Ring Road, do you know? Let’s go next Friday; there is a new movie on Friday!”

Su Yan: [Have you ever been to a movie theatre where you watch movies from your car?]

Su Yan: [Yes.]

Bai Xingfan: [Are you just watching a movie?]

Bai Xingfan: [Then let me invite you instead.]

Su Yan was stunned.

Bai Xingfan: [Miss Su, at eight o’clock on Friday night, would you like to go to the movies with me?]
