After Su Yan returned home, she locked herself in the room because she needed to calm down. However, the more she became calm, the more she became suspicious.

Liu Xiang was holding the vegetables for a little while and then looked at her daughter with surprise and asked, “What’s the matter?”

Su Yan couldn’t tell the truth, so she made up a fancy excuse. “I’m a little scared of getting married; I’m not ready in my mind.”

Liu Xiang made a grumpy face and angrily put down her chopsticks. “You shouldn’t have said yes to getting married if you were just going to change your mind at the last minute and say you’re scared of marriage. This is serious. What is it that you want the Bai family to believe?”

Su Yan knew her mother was worried, but she was confident and told her, “Don’t worry, I have already talked to Xingfan about it.”

Liu Xiang quickly asked, “What did Xingfan say?”

Su Yan: “He respects me a lot, but he’s worried that you will overthink things, so let me have a good talk with you.”

Liu Xiang was feeling worried and unsure. “Is it true that he said that?”

Su Yan agreed and said, “Well, he didn’t force me. As for his family, he would also persuade me.”

Su Yan felt surprised and worried when a feeling that something bad might happen suddenly came to her. She looked at her mother with concern and asked, “What’s wrong?”

With a bitter look on Liu Xiang’s face, she sighed again and had to confess to her daughter. “Something happened to your father’s company half a month ago, and the investor suddenly said that they would withdraw their capital. If we really let him withdraw, the company’s capital chain will be broken, and the next step is to declare bankruptcy. Your father can only ask someone to help him and beg them. But no one was willing to help him. These days, it’s good not to fall into the hole, so how dare you expect others to help you in the snow? In the end, your dad had to go to Xingfan.”

The air in the dining room felt like it was running out. Su Yan started to have trouble breathing and felt like she couldn’t breathe. It felt like a large hand was squeezing her neck, making it hard to breathe, and showing her that she couldn’t get away.

She stared at her mother in shock. After a while, she took a big breath and tried her best to stay relaxed. “Why do investors take their money out?”

Liu Xiang said, “I don’t know either. It’s hard to understand what’s happening in the business world.”

Su Yan did not get a clear answer and asked again, “Have you taken out your money yet?”

Liu Xiang cried and said, “I had to quit; Xingfan helped Dad with the money.”

Su Yan automatically made tight fists with her hands, and her lips shook a little. “So, he owns most of the company now.”

Liu Xiang: “Definitely. Your father cannot take such a big favour without a reason.”

She felt really sad; her face looked tired and empty, and her body felt numb.

Liu Xiang felt bad as she looked at her daughter. She and her dad didn’t tell her anything because they were worried she would be embarrassed. They were also afraid it would affect her relationship with Xingfan. But now she was worried because Su Yan hesitated to get married, and the Bai family would think badly of them.

Su Yan felt like she had no choice because Bai Xingfan didn’t let her choose.

Tomorrow, she has to get married to him.

She felt upset and powerless right away. She really wanted to cry out loud, but she was too scared to cry. She didn’t want to cry in front of her mother because she didn’t want to make her feel sad or uncomfortable.

She held her teeth tightly together to stop herself from crying, got off the stool, and said, “Don’t worry, our relationship is really good. I will get the certificate with him tomorrow like we planned.” Then she spoke and left.

After she went back to the room, she locked the door and suddenly started crying.
