Chapter 47.1

There was no rain at the Qīxī Festival.

Yesterday, after coming home, Su Yan didn’t talk to Bai Xingfan at all last night, but she felt sure that he would come on time, even if they did talk about postponing getting the certificate.

Although the animal might have come later, but the hunter would always be ready by setting up a trap and hiding in the dark, waiting for the prey to fall into it. Then he would close the trap. That was what Su Yan thought all night. 

The result was just as she thought it would be. After waking up, she went downstairs and saw Bai Xingfan sitting on the sofa, waiting for her.

He was wearing very nice and stylish clothes: a clean white shirt, dark grey pants, a black belt with a white gold buckle, and a fancy watch on his wrist that was also white gold.

He was talking to her dad, and he looked very gentle and kind. With sunlight shining on his face, he looked handsome and caring.

Overall, he gave others the feeling of a very kind and polite man.

But it was before he removed his mask.

One of the basic skills of a catcher was camouflage; otherwise, how could they trick their prey into being fooled?

After hearing someone walk in, Bai Xingfan looked up and greeted Su Yan with a small smile. “Good morning.”

Su Yan lifted the corners of her mouth, but there was no smile in her eyes. She said in a not-so-friendly tone, “You came early.”

Bai Xingfan didn’t show any emotion and said, “I think you’ll need to hurry.”

Su Yan said, “I’m not in a rush at all.”

Right now, her mother, Liu Xiang, came into the living room and kept telling her to go to the dining room and then go out early after breakfast. “Today is Qīxī day, so many people are probably going to the Civil Affairs Bureau today to get their certificates. If you arrive late, you will have to wait in line for a long time.”

Su Yan didn’t say anything else, didn’t look at Bai Xingfan again, and went straight to have breakfast.

Liu Xiang was worried about her daughter and told her to be quick, and then she asked Bai Xingfan if he wanted to eat.

Bai Xingfan said no thank you because he had already eaten at home this morning.

Liu Xiang said, “Okay, you can talk to her dad. I will go upstairs to check if there is anything else that needs to be taken. This girl always lost things.”

After getting married, she couldn’t live in her own house anymore; therefore, Su Yan had to pack her things to go to Bai Zingfan’s house. 

After talking, Liu Xiang went to the upper floor.

For breakfast, Su Yan didn’t want to eat anything and just ate for the sake of filling her stomach.

She didn’t have much of an appetite and only ate a little, but she stayed in the dining room for a while until her mother came and reminded her.

Many people were in the elevator in the morning, and it was almost crowded.

After the elevator went down two floors, an old man with a wheelchair came in. There was an old woman in a wheelchair inside the elevator too. To let the two old people fit inside, everyone had to move to make the way, and Su Yan was pressed into the corner.

Bai Xingfan patted the man standing in front of her on the shoulder. “Please move forward or change positions with me; you’ve squeezed my wife.”

Su Yan froze for a moment, then looked at Bai Xingfan in surprise. ‘What did he call me just now? W…wife?’

She didn’t like this title and didn’t want to be a nightingale.

But she had been waiting a long time to get this title, and it meant a lot to her. In the end, she said yes to marrying him because she loved him a lot, so when she heard those words, she couldn’t help but feel lost.

The elevator was full of people, so the man decided to switch places with Bai Xingfan before it got even more crowded.

Bai Xingfan stood in front of Su Yan to protect her from getting pushed by the crowd.

Su Yan looked up and saw his tall, straight back; her eyes suddenly became red.

She was still very upset, with a feeling of sadness that she couldn’t control.

She didn’t like his sneaky ways and couldn’t forgive him for being cunning and dishonest. But she couldn’t help but still love him because he cared for her so much that it made her feel loved by someone.

But she didn’t want him to be too nice to her, because the nicer he was, the harder it was for her to stop loving him.

In simpler terms, she didn’t want to feel both love and hate for him because it was too painful.

The more she thought about it, the more upset she felt, and tears started to fill her eyes.

However, she didn’t want to cry in front of a lot of people to make a show. She also didn’t want him to see her crying because it would make her feel weak. She felt like a useless bird that could only cry.

She quickly bent her head down, raised her hand, and wiped her tears away.

They got out of the elevator on the first floor and went to the underground parking lot with the other people.
