Chapter 48.1

Su Yan became the hostess of Bai Xingfan’s manor after the Qixi Festival.

A month ago, everything was okay between Su Yan and Bai Xingfan, so they decided to invite Yao Anan to dinner on the day they got the certificate. However, things changed suddenly, and Su Yan didn’t invite her friend until the fourth day after the marriage. Su Yancai made an appointment with Yao Anan alone.

She and Yao Anan had an appointment to meet at the main entrance of Mixc City at 11:30 in the morning.

Before 10:30, Su Yan called the driver to take her out. 

Bai Xingfan arranged for a professional driver, and his black Bentley was reserved for her. 

Su Yan didn’t want to use the car, and the driver arranged for her, but she had to because the villa area where the manor was located was very private and had strict security. Only reported private cars had permission to come in and out, so she couldn’t leave without the car and driver. She couldn’t drive, so she had to depend on the driver for transportation.

Less than 20 minutes after getting Su Yan’s call, the driver drove the car to the gate of the villa. Su Yan got settled in, and the Bentley started and smoothly drove out of the manor’s gate quickly.

Su Yan sat in the seat behind the co-pilot and looked back at the car behind them. It was a black Maybach following closely behind the black Bentley they were in.

She let out a quiet sigh and sadly turned her head, feeling a little upset inside.

Two guards were in the black Maybach car.

Bai Xingfan said it was for her safety, but she knew he was worried about her: he worried that Su Yan would go away that he couldn’t reach. 

He didn’t fully limit her freedom, but he also didn’t fully give her freedom. Therefore, she could only be free under his eyes.

Thinking about that, Su Yan felt that she was a nightingale in a golden cage.

The driver stopped the car on the side of the road in front of the main entrance of Mixc City more than 30 minutes later. 

When Su Yan stepped down from the vehicle, two tall bodyguards in black clothes followed her from a distance. They would stay close to her all the time and never let her go out of their sight.

Yao Anan had already come and was standing in front of the mall entrance, waiting for her friend. 

When Su Yan walked up the steps, she saw her friend and waved to her before walking towards her.

At the same time, Yao Anan also moved closer to her.

After seeing the three or four Hermes and Chanel bags in Su Yan’s hand, Yao Anan was surprised and said, “Are you here to shop or sell?”

“It’s for you.” Su Yan raised her arm a little and gave the shopping bag to Yao Anan.

Yao Anan’s eyes got big, and she took a big breath, asking, “Is that true?”

Su Yan asked, “Why do you think I’m not telling the truth?”

Yao Anan cried without tears because she felt moved and emotional, saying, “Rich woman. My Sister…”

Su Yan laughed and said, “Quickly take it; it’s very heavy.”

Although Yao Anan was happy, she didn’t forget to inquire. “Did your husband buy this for you? If you give it to me, won’t he be mad?”

Su Yan said, “No, he bought me a lot of things. Anyway, I won’t be able to use them all at once.”

Yao Anan said, “…”

After being quiet for a few seconds, Yao Anan looked at Su Yan with envy. “Do you know that what you said just now is really amazing?”

Su Yan: “Huh?’

Yao Anan kept feeling jealous and said, “Your husband treats you so nicely.”

Su Yan smiled sadly, but Yao Anan didn’t realise it. She said, “He is really nice to me.”

This sentence was true. Bai Xingfan was really nice to her—so nice that it was perfect. He thought of her as a princess, and the mansion was the castle he made for her. The castle was really beautiful and had lots of fancy roses, and she had nothing to complain about about the material things she had. 

But she couldn’t do what she wanted.

‘He loves me too much, and his overly possessiveness makes me feel very scared.’

She often felt like someone had control over her, making her feel trapped. No matter how much she tried, she couldn’t escape from his chains.

But she also knew that she couldn’t ask for help from anyone, not even her parents. No one knew the hidden thrush, and they thought Su Yan was the winner of life because she could marry an outstanding man like Bai Xingfan.

So, she could only dwell in her misery in secret, deal with it quietly, and always tell herself to just accept it and get used to it. In other words, she felt stuck and couldn’t do anything to change the situation, so she just had to accept it without really feeling anything.

She sighed and told Yao Anan to hurry up and take it.

“Are you positive that your husband doesn’t actually care?” Yao Anan was still a bit concerned.

Su Yan said, “No, definitely not. 

She was confident that Bai Xingfan wouldn’t bother her about small things.

He didn’t restrict her in any way when it came to money or other things.

She knew he wouldn’t mind if she wanted to buy old copper and iron, as long as she was happy.

He wanted her to care for him, stay committed to him, and do what he said.

He would be happy as long as she listened and stayed in the birdcage.

After Su Yan promised, Yao Anan felt relieved and agreed to help with some of the stress.

Su Yan found it funny and said, “I really appreciate it.”

Yao Anan happily took the things Su Yan gave her and said, “If you have something good in the future, don’t ask anyone else; ask me. I’m happy to help you.”

Su Yan smiled and said, “Sure, I will always remember you.”

Yao Anan: “Hello. I have strong feelings for you.”

Su Yan smiled, she wanted to ask her something, but then she remembered the bodyguards behind her, so she decided not to ask and instead said, “I need to go to the bathroom.”

Yao Anan: “OK. Let’s go”
