It was a little past six in the evening when Su Yan arrived home, and Bai Xingand was still not back.

Seeing the housekeeping aunty was preparing the dinner, Su Yan went upstairs, went to the bathroom, and quickly put the birth control pills in the drawer on the left side of the sink in the bathroom.

Usually, they didn’t use this drawer. There were a few white disposable spare towels, and no one would open them under normal circumstances.

She wrapped the medicine box in a towel, folded it again, and placed it at the bottom of the drawer. Then, she neatly stacked the other towels and put them in the drawer in an organised way.

After she closed the drawer, she felt better and stood up. She washed herself, went to the bathroom to change into her comfy clothes, and then went downstairs.

As she walked past the kitchen, she noticed a delicious smell of roast lamb in the air.

At dinner yesterday, she received a WeChat message from her mother in the family group. It was a promotional blog post about traditional Chinese medicine. The title of the article was Three Benefits of Drinking Freshly Steeped Mutton Soup.

Her mom and dad usually shared healthcare articles in the family group, and she and her brother were used to it for a long time.

Silly Baitian: [Are you having mutton soup this weekend?]

Then she only remembered that Bai Xingfan was now part of her family group.

Bai Xingfan said, “If you want to eat it, tell Aunty to make it tomorrow.”

Su Yan declined. “Forget it; it’s a little troublesome. If mutton is not fresh, it won’t taste good when roasted.” After that, she stopped talking and ate silently.

After thinking for a moment, Su Yan opened the kitchen door. The chubby aunt was standing in front of the stove, busy cooking, and not seeing anyone coming up behind her.

There were several chopping boards and several large stainless steel basins on the workbench in the middle of the kitchen.

The chubby aunt looked around and asked in surprise, “When did you come back?”

“Ten minutes ago.” Su Yan asked, “Did you roast lambs for dinner?”

“Yes, Sir told me that you wanted roast lamb and asked me to make it for you.” The chubby aunt said, “Mr.Bai is also worried that the lamb that is sold here is not fresh; he had ordered it from Xinjiang, and the meat was shipped directly by plane.”

Su Yan was surprised, and felt many different emotions in her heart.

It was clear that he was very kind and really loved her.

He would remember her words and do his best to make her happy. He would do whatever he could to make her happy, as long as it was what she wanted.

He had imprisoned her as a nightingale, but he loved her like a child, combining paranoia and tenderness, constantly alternating identities between demons and angels, making her terrified but at the same time sinking her in his tenderness.

She let out a heavy breath and walked out of the kitchen.

When the meal was about to start, she got a message from Bai Xingfan on WeChat, saying that he had to go to a dinner party and could not come home for dinner that night.

She looked at her phone for a long time and then replied, [Come back soon and drink less.]

He replied, [I understand].

Bai Xingfan didn’t come home until after midnight.

Su Yan had already finished cleaning herself, but hadn’t gone to bed yet. She looked at the phone to see what time it was and waited for him to come home.
