Chapter 50.3

After eating breakfast, Bai Xingfan went to work.

Su Yan was planning to go to the hospital for a check-up in the morning, but when she was getting ready, she got an email from the company asking her to make some changes to the script for the new play.

She couldn’t decide if she should go to the hospital or do the work first, but finally, she chose to take her computer to the hospital.

She called the driver and told him she was going to visit a friend at the People’s Hospital.

She didn’t mean to lie to the driver, but if she told him the truth about going to the hospital for a check-up, he would tell Bai Xingfan right away.

She knew he really wanted a baby, and he would be really happy if she was pregnant.

But it was also possible that she was not pregnant.

Less than 20 minutes after she finished her phone call, the driver arrived in the familiar black Bentley.

A black Maybach car with two bodyguards followed the Bentley. The male bodyguard drove the car, and the female bodyguard sat in the front seat. Bai Xingfan had set up two male bodyguards for her before, but after the contraceptive pill incident, one male bodyguard was replaced with a female one. 

Initially, Su Yan didn’t like having bodyguards and felt uncomfortable being watched all the time; however, she couldn’t do anything to change the situation. Therefore, gradually, she got used to it.

Right after she sat in the car, she switched on the computer.

She wanted to work in the car on the way to the hospital, but after looking at the screen for a short time, she started to feel dizzy. So, she had to stop working and put her computer on the seat next to her.

She wanted to take a nap, but she couldn’t do it because her mind was too messed up.

When she closed her eyes, things she read on Baidu came into her mind. ‘Contraceptives are likely to cause foetal miscarriage or deformity.’

Although she didn’t want kids right now, if she had a child, she would still love it. The most important thing was that she wanted her child to be born healthy.

She felt very anxious and worried.

When she got to the hospital, she only let the female bodyguard go with her, not the male one.

The female bodyguard looked surprised as Su Yan made an appointment with a doctor in obstetrics and gynaecology.

“Please don’t tell him. I will tell him myself tonight.” Su Yan pleaded as they were going to the registration machine. 

Women understood women, and the female bodyguard had a hard time accepting Su Yan’s request but eventually agreed and went with Su Yan to the waiting area.

After waiting for 40 minutes, it was Su Yan’s turn to see the doctor. 

The doctor set up some tests for her and got the results back quickly. 

She was having a baby.

This was what Su Yan was expecting, so it didn’t make her feel very different.

She just wanted to find out if the child would have side effects from contraceptive pills. This was her biggest concern.

To get the doctor to give the most certain result, she also deliberately searched the Internet to find out the medicine she took that day and let the female doctor who consulted her take a look.

The final result given by the doctor was that it was acceptable because progesterone drugs have little effect on the fetus.

But Su Yan was still a bit concerned. “But Baidu said…”

Before she could finish speaking, the female doctor’s expression turned serious. 

Su Yan felt too scared to say anything more and looked at the doctor nervously, like a school kid looking at a strict principal.

Luckily, the lady doctor was very kind. She was a little upset by the word “Baidu,” but she told Su Yan to trust the hospital and the doctor because most of the information on Baidu was wrong. 

A heavy weight was lifted from Su Yan’s heart and the emotions that had been stressed for almost a day finally eased.

After she left the doctor’s office, she felt much better and let out a big sigh.

The female bodyguard noticed that her mood had changed and said to her, “Congratulations,” with a smile.

Su Yan also smiled and said, “Thanks.”

She wanted to call Bai Xingfan right away, but she hesitated before pressing the call button.

‘Pregnancy is a serious thing. In the end, a little angel has arrived, so we should still have some formality, right? It’s not good to just call to let someone know.

What if the little angel believes the parents are not giving her or him enough attention?

I have already used birth control pills.’

She thought about it and then decided to surprise the child’s father in a special way to show how much she cared about the baby. 

After coming out of the hospital, Su Yan asked the driver to take her to Vientiane City.

Just as she was about to arrive in Vientiane City, she suddenly received a text message from an unfamiliar number.

The content of the information was only three words. [Come to Yanshan.]
