“It’s alright. I promise not to hurt you. Hey…Yanyan, trust me. Xie Yu remained silent for a long moment before speaking softly.

The black Ferrari quickly passed through busy areas and turned into a less crowded road, suggesting that it was leaving the city.

Su Yan was terrified when she suddenly realised it and saw the desolate, empty highways. “Wh…where are you taking me?”

“A place where it is safe.” This was the reply Su Yan got.

Su Yan asked again with a fast-beat heart, “Where is it?”

Xie Yu said, “The place where dead people are buried.”

He spoke without scary emotions in his voice, but Su Yan felt very scared, looking at Xie Yu with a lot of horror in her eyes. ‘What is he trying to do?’

Xie Yu suddenly grinned and looked at her from the side. “Are you scared?”

Su Yan tried to stay relaxed. “Why are you taking me there?”

Xie Yu watched the road ahead from the car and saw the wipers moving back and forth. He said, “I think you should meet my dad.”

‘What? Is he insane?’ Su Yan felt confused and anxious. “Why?”

“Because…” Xie Yu glanced at Su Yan before replying, “On our wedding day, Bai Xingfan offered me a choice,” Xie Yu said in a calm and quiet voice as if he were sharing an unimportant story with a stranger. “If I called off the wedding, he would reward me with a heart. My father needed a heart as soon as possible, so I had to agree to his request, or else I could only watch my dad pass away.”

A bright light flashed in the dark sky.

Hearing such horrible words, Su Yan stared at Xie Yu with a blank expression, as if she were shocked.

It was a new story for her.

Xie Yu didn’t talk anymore, and there was complete silence in the car.

Su Yan felt she was suffocating, and she had a hard time breathing.

The rain became heavy, and the windows of the car were covered with a thick white curtain of water.

“That day was rainy like today.” Xie Yu talked slowly and calmly. He said, ‘I decided to cancel the wedding, went to the hospital, and got a heart. It gave up on you for my dad.”

Su Yan was very surprised and scared that she even had goosebumps on her skin.

Xie Yu laughed and said, “Even though I lost my wife, I saved my father.”

Su Yan was unsure of how to respond.

‘If it were my decision, I would choose to save my father’s life for sure. Don’t blame Xie Yu; blame Bai Xingfan for being too insidious. After all, no one can watch their father die like that.’

Xie Yu suddenly said, “I really wanted to choose you at that time.”

Su Yan stopped thinking and stared at him with wide eyes.

“Yanyan, I love you a lot,” Xie Yu said with a sad smile. “If our wedding goes well, we will be parents by this time.”

Su Yan felt like her heart was torn into pieces. ‘There are no conditions in life… I can’t return to the past, and I miss my chance to be with the young and sunny boy that I was fascinated with in my youth at the end.’

“I didn’t agree at first, but Bai Xingfan didn’t give me a chance at all.” Xie Yu, with red eyes, spoke in a low, hoarse voice. “If I don’t cancel the wedding, he will tell everyone about the Xie family scandal.”

He breathed in deeply and said, ‘My mom was a performer at Wutong Shuixie. And my uncle hurt a girl and made her take her own life, then he blamed someone else for it. My dad was being accused of killing his ex-wife and their son in another country.”

So far, he doesn’t worry about being embarrassed by his family anymore. He felt very embarrassed by his family, so he just got rid of it and told Su Yan everything.

Su Yan was very surprised.

Xie Yu knew that once the scandals in his family were revealed, his family would be finished, but now he didn’t care about that. 

Su Yan finally understood what Jiang Qi told Xie Yu at the wedding. “If you don’t go, I’ll tell you the story of the Wutong Waterside Pavilion.”

It was a serious and clear warning.

At the same time, Su Yan realised why Xie Yu hated Bai Xingfan so much.

He ruined Xie Yu’s life and his beliefs.

Xi Yu had always lived recklessly, not knowing any family scandal or any problem since he was a little boy. Therefore, when such an incident happened suddenly, how could he stay without agony? 

Bai Xingfan put him in a deep, dark hole where the sun couldn’t reach.

Xie Yu had gone through a lot more pain than she expected.

But she couldn’t do anything to make him feel better.

The mood in the car changed drastically. 

The large white gate of the cemetery seemed even larger in the rain, and Xie Yu repeated. “Bai Xingfan used the entire Xie family to surrender me to him. Bai Xingfan, no one can challenge him. The Xie family kept me trapped, and I couldn’t get away until today.”

Su Yan realised her thoughts were correct. ‘His family was telling him what to do all the time.’

But what could Su Yan do? Should she tell Bai Xingfan not to go after the Xie family anymore, or should she coax Xie Yu?

It was not important because she couldn’t change anything.

Whatever happened, Xie Yu would hate Bai Xingfan.

She could only handle reality.

Su Yan took a deep breath and calmly asked Xie Yu, “How do you plan to handle him? Are you going to use me to force him?”
