Watching him walk away, Su Yan cried and laughed at the same time. 

She felt like the love she received from Bai Xingfan was not real. After the truth came, it broke into pieces that couldn’t be fixed even by applying glue.

Time passed, and it was already dark outside.

Su Yan stood on the balcony outside the bedroom.

It was very cold outside, and the cold wind blowing went through Su Yan’s clothes and touched her skin; however, she didn’t feel cold at all.

She placed her hands on the icy glass railing and looked at the lake, surrounded by swans.

The sky looked very dark because there was not much moonlight tonight.

The swans disappeared into the dark night after flying in the sky. The world was so big, and they could fly wherever they wanted. 

Looking at the swans flying away, Su Yan wanted to become a swan who could fly freely rather than being a caged nightingale again.

‘I’m not ill, and I don’t have to go to the doctor. No! I’ll not let him succeed this time.’

Tonight she wanted to become a swan and fly away from this place full of thorny roses.

When Su Yan was sinking in her own thoughts, the lights in the next room suddenly turned on. She knew that Bai Xingfan was back home.

After she came from the hospital, she wanted to live alone, so Bai Xingfan had to move to the next room.

She was afraid he would find out about her secret plan, so she hurried back to the bedroom. She closed the balcony door and drew the curtains carefully. Instead of going to bed, she quietly waited behind the curtains.

The room was not very bright, but she started to feel happy, and there was a strange glow in her face.

After a while, she slowly opened the curtains and looked at the next room. 

The light was not on.

‘He went to sleep.’ She smiled happily, like a child who won at hide-and-seek and quietly left the bedroom.

Bai Xingfan did turn off the bedroom lights but didn’t go to sleep. Instead, he went to the study, turned on the computer, and talked to the psychiatrist.

After telling the doctor all about Su Yan’s situation, he also told the doctor about things that might upset her, so the doctor wouldn’t do anything to make her feel worse during the diagnosis and treatment.

Bai Xingfan finished making an appointment for tomorrow and then turned off the computer.

After he came back to the bedroom, he didn’t go to sleep. Instead, he went to the balcony because he had seen Su Yan standing there very late at night these days. 

He didn’t know what she was thinking, but he didn’t want to bother her.

He knew that she wouldn’t want him around because he made a big mistake. He was too afraid to ask for forgiveness, but he just wanted her to stay and let him protect her quietly.

He stood in front of the balcony door and gently opened the curtain a little to look at the door next to him.

However, no one was on the balcony.

‘She’s not here tonight. She’s not here tonight.’ He thought she had gone to sleep, and he felt relieved. But just as he was about to close the curtains, he saw something in the garden below.

In autumn and winter, the grass and trees died, and the garden was not green anymore. So everything in the garden could be seen.

In the moonlight, a skinny person was walking through the garden.

There was a trail behind the house that went straight to Swan Lake at the bottom of the mountain.

Bai Xingfan had a sudden realisation and felt very worried. He quickly opened the glass door, ran to the balcony, and called Su Yan.

But Su Yan didn’t seem to hear him shout.

She didn’t stop, and she went faster.

Bai Xingfan was very scared and quickly ran out of the balcony, then out of the bedroom, and finally out of the manor. He was running fast to catch her.

Su Yan walked down the mountain on the curvy path and went to Swan Lake bit by bit.

The wind around the lake was freezing, but she didn’t notice.

The Swan Lake in front of her looked very beautiful, like a magical mirror that tricked people. 

She smiled and walked into the ice-cold lake without fear.

Slowly, the cold lake water went up to her neck.

She didn’t know how to swim, but instead of panicking, she closed her eyes and let the lake pull her under.

The water went up her nose, and she started to feel like she couldn’t breathe.

Physically, it hurt a lot, like torture, but mentally, it was enjoyable.

‘I can now turn into a swan, escape from the cage, and fly freely in the sunshine.

He couldn’t keep me locked up anymore.’

Her mind started to go fuzzy, and her body kept sinking slowly, like a feather falling from the sky. 

All of a sudden, someone swam next to her and hugged her tightly, pulling her upstream without her choice.

She woke up right away and began to fight.

But she was not as strong as him, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t move him at all.

Finally, he saved her.

After they landed on the shore, Bai Xingfan gave Su Yan a big hug and started crying.

He almost lost her completely. He came very close to losing her completely.

Su Yan was also crying a lot, trembling all over, and resting her head on his chest. 

She was begging him to let her go.

Her tears caused a hole in his heart.

A little while ago, the nightingale, who didn’t want to be held captive, flew into a pillar and died.

Blood flew, and the dead body fell into the flowering rosebushes.

Bai Xingfan remembered that sense. After coughing for a while, Bai Xingfan struggled to speak, and his voice sounded very rough. “Okay…”

He didn’t want her to be the second nightingale, so he opened his heart, took out the key covered in blood, and unlocked the rose cage.

She flew out of the cage without thinking twice.

He was stuck in a cage forever.
