Yan Yan - Chapter 58.2

Chapter 58.2
Movie scripts were different from TV drama scripts. The characters’ expressions, actions, and lines were mainly used to highlight the characters. Additionally, the movie’s script was shorter than the TV series’ script.
When writing the first draft, Su Yan did not control this well, which led to deviations in the male protagonist.
Later, she rewrote the script multiple times under the guidance of the director. She worked on the final manuscript for over three months, making adjustments along the way.
At the end of December, the filming started in South Island City.
Regardless of the seasons, the small town’s atmosphere was not harsh.
Su Yan joined the group as a scriptwriter and landed on the South Island a day before the filming started.
There was no airport in this city, so Su Yan went there by high-speed train.
A staff member of the crew came to pick up Su Yan and then sent her to the hotel where she stayed.
Because of Bai Xingfan’s relationship, her status in the crew was not what it used to be. They had booked her a high-end suite at the five-star hotel closest to the filming location, and the treatment was higher than that of the male and female protagonists.
Su Yan felt amused receiving such a treatment. ‘If they knew I had divorced Bai Xingfan, would I receive the same treatment?’
After inserting the power card of the suite, she pulled her suitcase and walked into the living room. As she was going to the room, her phone made a ding sound indicating she had received a message.
She took out her mobile phone and checked it. It was a message from Bai Xingfan.
[Have you arrived at the hotel?]
She sent a reply. [Yes.]
They didn’t completely cut off their contact after the divorce. They still didn’t inform others of their divorce; therefore, they needed to know each other’s situation to cope with the sudden inquiries from family members.
What was more, they still were in the family WeChat groups, so it would arouse their suspicions if they got out of the groups.
It was near the end of the year, and the Spring Festival was going to arrive soon. In such a happy time, if they announced their divorce, it would destroy their relatives longing for the New Year in advance.
Subsequently, she and Bai Xingfan agreed to hold up until the New Year was over before publicising the news of their separation.
Bai Xingfan sent another message. [Take care of yourself.]
Su Yan: [Okay.]
Bai Xingfan didn’t send another message; therefore, the conversation ended there.
Since the divorce, their chat records would not surpass ten sentences each time.
Su Yan put her phone back and started to check the room. Then she began to unpack her luggage after confirming nothing was wrong.
After half an hour, she went out alone.
This was her first visit here. As it was still early, Su Yan thought to stroll around the island.
Although the South Island was a small, third-tier city, it didn’t seem like a well-developed city with magnificent high-rise buildings. However, the city gave a gentle and elegant feeling.
A long river runs through the whole city. The city was filled with antique-looking small buildings with white walls and stone-tiled streets, giving the city a unique appearance.
The people there likewise lived at a very slow pace. The streets were not very car-filled, and most people took buses or electric bicycles for transportation. It felt like a city more than a decade ago.
This little town offered endless opportunities for leisure and relaxation; even in the dead of winter, there was greenery everywhere. It felt as though all of your problems had vanished into the distance.
Today there was no wind. She strolled southward alongside the river’s eastern bank. As she passed a well-known specialised food store in the area on her route, she went to dine there.
By the time she came out of the store after eating, it was already nighttime.
After strolling for a bit along the east bank, Su Yan crossed a white stone bridge to go to the west side and then turned around to head back to the hotel.
The neon lights on either side of the riverside gradually came on as night fell, and one by one, the glass windows that faced the street began to glow atmospherically.
Su Yan immediately noticed a store with an old-fashioned Republic of China theme, and she moved over to the window.
A model prop dressed in a white gauze cheongsam was visible behind the transparent glass cover. Beside it was a blue solid wood chest of drawers with three trays arranged in an organised fashion, and several sparkling pieces of jewellery were scattered on the black velvet surface.
Behind the transparent glass cover stood a model prop wearing a white gauze cheongsam, next to a blue solid wood chest of drawers, on which were placed three golden trays in an orderly space, and on the black velvet surface were many sparkling jewellery.
The jewellery for men was on the tray located on the far right. A silver tie clip, a silver ring, and a silver pocket watch were present. A smooth black curve was engraved on the luminous, slender clip, and it looked elegant and cool.
Su Yan kept glancing at the tie clip through the glass for a long time. She seemed to have forgotten about the cold temperature outside.
Her breath had stained the cold glass window white multiple times, so she repeatedly reached out and cleaned it.
“You are welcome to visit the store and take a look if you like it,” the salesperson said with a smile. “There are a wide variety of styles.”
Su Yan abruptly recovered upon hearing the salesperson’s words. She grinned shamefully at the woman salesperson and shook her head, saying, “No need, thank you.”
After speaking, she turned and left the store.
But after taking a few steps, she suddenly stopped again, lowered her head, and looked at her snow boots for a few seconds. Then she turned around and went to that store.
At that time, the salesperson had returned to the store.
She extended her arm and pushed the store door open. “Hello, how much is the tie clip in the window?” she asked the salesperson behind the wooden counter as soon as she entered the store.
Looking a bit shocked, the salesperson asked, “You mean the one with the black curve?”
Su Yan said with a nod, “Yes, that.”
“That’s our boss’s collection and can’t be sold to you, but there are many other styles in our store,” the salesperson said with a friendly smile. “You are welcome to look. Is there anything you enjoy better, perhaps?”
“I only want that.” With a little stubborn tone, Su Yan said, “The price is not a problem. I can pay.”
