Yan Yan - Chapter 59.1

Chapter 59.1
The chief director of the movie was highly respected and had a higher status in the entertainment industry. Additionally, she was famous for being a strict person; therefore, no one dared to play tricks on her crew.
All the members of the crew had got the filming set ready before 9.30 a.m., and all the actors, who were supposed to participate today, were already finished putting on makeup and wearing their costumes.
The very first scene started at 10 a.m., and Su Yan participated in a grand opening ceremony for the first time since she joined the industry. Additionally, this was the first time she had taken part in such a huge crew.
The first scene was filmed in an old-fashioned residential building. The scene’s plot had the male protagonist, who had fallen in love with the female protagonist, visiting the female protagonist, who was living in a run-down slum.
The crew placed Liu Ying’s house in the southwest-facing room on the top level of the residential building to get the finest light and background photography effects.
As per the director’s instructions, the props team pasted yellow wallpaper with a light red rose pattern on the old scarred walls and changed the curtains to burgundy wine red.
In Lin Ying’s room, there was a walnut-coloured wooden bed placed in the middle of the room, covered with a dark green quilt.
The bedroom had been split in half by the winter sun, with half of it bathed in golden light and the other half in complete darkness.
The male protagonist’s actor was seated in a gilded rattan chair in the room for the opening scene, and he was observing the female protagonist, who was curled up on the bed with his eyes filled with affection.
He silently and patiently watched over her slumber, not disturbing any of her pleasant dreams.
His entire body was bathed in a golden light as the sun streamed into the house.
He had white, fair skin and was dressed in a neat black suit with a black tie and white shirt. On the left hand, he wore an expensive platinum watch that gleamed in the sun.
His features were also highly attractive; his jawline was clean and smooth, his facial lines were very three-dimensional, and his eyebrows emit an incredible elegance.
Xu Luo, who played the male lead, was an actor considered a handsome male god in the industry. In terms of appearance, stature, and disposition, he closely resembled the “young master” persona.
Fans of the original novel as well as other internet users enthusiastically praised the male lead’s choice when the makeup photos were made public a few weeks ago, but Su Yan felt that something was off. However, she was unable to provide a precise description of the issue with simply a well-edited promotional photo. She was unable to detect the slightest hint of something amiss until the living Xu Luo appeared before her eyes.
But now that the filming was in progress, she couldn’t interrupt in the middle, so she had to stand outside the camera and wait anxiously.
It didn’t take long to end the filming. The director was not satisfied with the acting of the two actors, and she asked them to get into the scene and come back in ten minutes.
Su Yan used this chance to speak with the director directly and stated, “I always feel that something is missing from the male protagonist.”
After giving it some thought, the female director, Director Sun, frowned and said, “I think so, but I can’t say what is missing.”
The only people who could make a man perfect were women. So Director Sun understood exactly what Su Yan meant. It seemed a combination of a female director and a female screenwriter was a good choice.
“He’s missing a suit handkerchief and a tie clip,” Su Yan retorted.
“Really?” Director Sun questioned the significance of these two insignificant items.
“It must be.” Su Yan raised her voice. “80% of the men wearing tie clips and suit handkerchiefs are exquisite scumbags.” Su Yan declared resolutely.
“Hey, you said it well. Hurry up, add it to the script, and be the heroine’s line!” With a gleam in her eyes, Director Sun said.
Su Yan: “…”
She immediately said, “I’ll add it later!” Then she asked, “Would you like to try the tie clip first? Let’s see the effect.”
“Yes, let’s try it, but who has it?” Before Su Yan could speak, Sun Dao suddenly shouted, “Who has a tie clip? Props! Props! Do you have any?”
The props team exchanged a shocked glance as they realised what had happened. Finally, the team leader looked ashamed and answered, “No.”
Sun Dao got angry hearing the answer. “What are you doing? Don’t you have such little things?”
The leader was afraid to say anything.
“I have it!” Su Yan hastily announced to the director.
Depressed, the director asked, “So why didn’t you tell me earlier? I scold Team Leader Li for nothing.”
Team Leader Li: “…”
Su Yan: “…”
“I meant to say, but aren’t you one step ahead of me?” Su Yan said, looking even more helpless. She got her backpack off the stool, unzipped it, and pulled out a delicate piece of dark green velvet from the jewellery box inside the bag.
“Newly bought?” says Director Sun.
Su Yan said, nodding, “Yesterday when shopping, I saw it. I purchased it since it seemed nice.” She gave the tie clip to the woman who worked for Xu Luo.
With a high ponytail and an inquisitive expression on his face, the assistant gave off the impression that she was a recent graduate. She hurried up to the male protagonist as soon as she had the item and attached it to the black tie on Xu Luo’s chest.
“No…no, it should be between the third and fourth buttons.
The position of the tie clip was a little higher, so Su Yan had to remind: “No, it should be between the third and fourth buttons, or a little further down.”
The assistant quickly followed her instructions and adjusted the tie clip to a little lower position.
The thin silver tie clip caught the last of the golden sun’s rays, vibrating with the platinum watch on the man’s wrist.
After this, Su Yan liked Xu Luo’s appearance. ‘It will be better if there is a handkerchief.’
Following the assistant’s departure, Xu Luo used one hand to adjust the tie on his chest and then lifted his gaze to meet Su Yan’s.
Su Yan was taken aback when the four eyes locked.
She was not sure why, but for some reason, the sun was so bright that it dazzled her eyes so much that Bai Xingfan’s and Xu Luo’s faces actually overlapped.
Xu Luo’s character’s appearance turned out to be Bai Xingfan.
Put another way, Bai Xingfan prototyped the young master at first, and this was her secret that lay in the depths of her heart.
They had recently gotten married when this script was created, and she was struggling to find the right feeling to play the part of the “young master.” The script, which had undergone numerous revisions, was repeatedly thrashed, leaving her exhausted.
She read the book again and realised the male lead in “Flowering Orioles” was a kind but suspicious man.
As soon as she shut the book, Bai Xingfan and the young master’s image blended into her thoughts.
And thus was born the “young master” that she wrote.
Have a nice day!
