Yan Yan - Chapter 66.1

Chapter 66.1 – A Marriage from Heaven
Su Yan feared the wooden bed underneath her would collapse during the night. However, the bed seemed sturdy and stable the entire time, but she nearly fell apart.
She fell asleep shortly after the last time, but she was unsure of the exact time.
She had a restful night’s sleep with no dreams.
She woke up the following morning due to hunger and a growling stomach.
When she opened her eyes, she found no one around her.
Su Yan sighed, tossed the quilt aside, and climbed out of bed. Then she walked to the bathroom, took a shower, got dressed, and went downstairs.
“Husband?”
Seeing the man was not in the living room, she called out to him. She was surprised that the workaholic was not there, sitting at the dining table and working on his computer.
No one responded.
‘You’re not at home, are you?’
She had just reached for the phone to contact him when she heard a gate exterior open.
She hurried to the door and spotted Bai Xingfan as soon as she opened it.
He wore blue jeans, a grey sweater, and a black woolen coat. The collar of a white shirt was visible at the sweater’s collar. He had the breakfast he had just purchased from outside in his hand.
Su Yan was very pleased about this—although Young Master Bai could not cook, he had money and was willing to buy food.
She also appreciated Master Bai’s attention to detail, which included always keeping himself well-groomed and wearing nice clothes, even when he went out to buy breakfast. ‘He serves as an example for us.’
Wearing off-white cotton slippers, Su Yan ran up to the man and blocked his way. “Stop! Routine inspection; otherwise, you will not be allowed into the house.”
With great cooperation, Bai Xingfan stopped smiling and asked, “Do you need to see your ID?”
“No, but I need you to stretch out your left hand,” said Su Yan, shaking her head.
With a soft smile, Bai Xingfan said, “Okay.”
In order to assist with the inspection, he then lifted his left hand and extended it in front of Su Yan. He had a wedding ring on his ring finger that Su Yan knew well and a platinum watch on his left wrist.
She raised the corners of her lips in satisfaction and said, “Okay, you have passed, and you can go in after paying the protection fee.”
Bai Xingfan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Protection money?”
Calmly, Su Yan stated, “I am the boss of this area, and oh, I have many younger brothers. So you won’t be able to live here if you don’t pay the protection fee.”
Unable to contain his laughter, Bai Xingfan said, “Okay, I’ll pay it.”
With a blink, Su Yan said, “But I don’t charge money.”
“Then what should I hand in?” asked Bai Xingfan.
With a pout, Su Yan lifted her chin, indicating what she wanted.
With a smile on his face, Bai Xingfan lowered his head and kissed her tenderly and gently.
Finally pleased, “Boss Su” grasped the man’s arm and said, “Okay, you can go in.”
Bai Xingfan stood there without leaving. Instead, he asked seriously, “How many times a day do I need to pay protection fees?”
Su Yan: “…”
‘What good things are you thinking about?’
“It depends on the boss’s mood. If she’s not in a good mood, she’ll ignore you.”
Bai Xingfan ignored the woman’s words and said, “I can pay anytime; there is no limit on the number of times and the amount.”
Su Yan: “…”
Bai Xingfan added, “There is no location restriction, as long as you want it.”
Su Yan: “…”
‘No! I’m not that h*rny!’
Both of them started to do their own work after breakfast.
The two sat face to face at the dining table with their laptops and tablets.
Su Yan lifted her eyelashes after typing a few lines and gave the guy seated across from her a grin, but Bai Xingfan was already focused on his job and was completely unaware of his woman’s gaze.
Su Yan stared at him, feeling a mixture of embarrassment, frustration, and shame.
It felt like when she was a student, she wanted to talk to her deskmate during math class, but her classmate was listening carefully and didn’t want to pay attention to her at all.
So she secretly swore in her heart. ‘I will work hard too, even harder than you!’
But when it came to hard work, she really couldn’t compete with the workaholics.
It seemed the man sitting across from her was in a spiritual world, who had cultivated his mind to carry on work without any distraction.
After breakfast, he held two video conferences and made three phone calls. Furthermore, his tablet computer was filled with work-related records, which were still being updated.
On the other hand, Su Yan only wrote a 3,000-word script, but she already felt very impressed. As for the tablet, she had never turned it on.
She had never turned on the tablet, either.
She shut down the laptop at around half past eleven and went to the kitchen to prepare food.
She cooked a pot of corn and pork ribs soup, stir-fried a plate of shrimp with pine nuts, and a plate of stir-fried broccoli, and the staple food was rice.
The two of them ate at the coffee table since the dining table was commandeered as a working desk.
Have a nice day!
